Oh come on, you know what I mean by never.
And I never said that I'm surprised that there's Prince worshippers. But, really, one of our hot topics is about Prince's teeth.

@ the group brainstorm.
This is why I do love to visit the org
Live shows aside, I'm not sure what these "endless" options are for sharing music without recording it...
...that said, can't wait to see what they are!
Love the smiley, love the LOL, love his reply to the "Reasonably Intelligent Interviewer" (what a way to introduce yourself to an international celebrity, truly!!) - hate the caps lock. It's not the fastest way to type (all small caps would be just as easy if capitalisation was really so time-consuming); to me it's just an indication of how little regard he had for the interview to not even bother taking caps lock off.
I did notice though that in a recent facebook post, Andy typed in all caps - if that's not unusual for her, perhaps she was typing for him...or maybe he was posting on her facebook account...or maybe they just both like to shout at people...who knows.
In any case, looking forward to hearing whatever new stuff he's working on - be it via CD, live show, carollers, etc...
(Thankfully I know some musicians, so I'm all set, should it come out as sheet music!! Should make for one heck of an interesting Peach N Black podcast though )

Those threads don't interest me either, but my simple solution is to not enter them. There are obviously people who want to discuss such things, so just let them is my way, they're not harming anyone. Whereas the whiners just set a horrible tone for what usually start as interesting topics IMO.

Honestly, I'd just prefer more indept discussions of the music, which is why I think we should have two sections for the "Music" and the "More".

There is just one thing that he said that I found questionable:
NO. I HAVE A WRITING ADDICTION. THAT SAID, IT WOULD B GREAT 2 C THE GOVERNMENT GET INVOLVED 2 INVESTIGATE THE COLLUSION AND RACKETEERING ASPECT OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. THE WHOLE NATION WOULD BENEFIT GREATLY FROM A MORE SECURE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM.
The writing addiction is a soothing comment, ensuring us all that - of course - he would not stop making music. He may have gone into "writing rehab" but we all know how long that would probably take lol.
Different thing is going into "release rehab". I am puzzled by his comment about the govenment getting involved. I would totally support an indepth investigation into the workings of the music industry that would actually also change the way the industry operates. But then P says that "the whole nation would benefit greatly from a more secure distribution system".
It's not just that this seems at odds with his political and religious beliefs. It seems more that what he is suggesting is that the government also take control of the internet. I am not sure tho', because it's too short and cryptic, but would it really be "great" if they got involved?
For one, more government control is very hard for a number of reasons. Technologically, legally and financially. It is because of those reasons that governments worldwide prefer "self regulation" of the indutry and the internet, and have chosen to do not much more than than (obediently) protect copyright owners with the legislation they require. Often to the detriment of the consumer's rights.
I always hoped Prince on the internet would keep his head and chin up "in the face of all adversity" and find a decent way to succesfully release as much music as he can to all those people who would appreciate it. It seems he has really given up on it.

I wouldn't spend too much time dissecting Prince's views on policy questions. If Prince ran the world, most likely it would be structured as a giant harem, with all the women doing his sexual bidding and the men providing him with incense and candles as well as an endless supply of Captain Crunch.
I would never have predicted, however, that Prince might be in favor of more government regulation in the music industry. Too bad he can't go back in time and testify in favor of the PMRC as to why Purple Rain should have been slapped with a warning sticker.

I think we underestimate Prince's intelligence, experience and principal attitude in these matters and that we let his sometimes kooky views and actions, clutter our perspective on where he is really standing. Prince has an authoritarian personality, certainly when it is about music he is the author of. We have ample evidence of that (lawsuits, c&d letters, websheriff, associated artists).
In that perspective, it makes sense that he would call on government (call the law) to solve the problems with the internet and copyrights, especially if he has given up himself on it. But it also seems to go against his p&r and moreover his desire to always exclusively decide for himself how his music is handled.
He seems to be very much against the compulsory license scheme for musical covers for example, because he can't excercise any control over the way his songs are covered and how much he makes of it. But that is exactly what he can expect to get, if government would take more control. It would chose the most efficient and effective way that copyrightowners at least will be getting paid for downloads. But that would not be as much as Prince would want, nor could he do anything about it then if he doesn't like it.
If I'm reading his words right therefore, he is basically asking the government to erode his copyrights further to just a set of basic rights to compensation for the use of his work and see it less and less as a set of exclusive rights to control his own work the way he sees fit.
And that I really doubt is his intention. So I'm probably not reading/understanding his words right.

My tin foil hat is strapped on and it is working wonderfully! The voices in my head are coming in loud and clear. They are telling me we will see a new Prince project with "the old gang". wink wink
I don't want to spread false rumors or bring people hopes up unnecessarily, so I ran diagnostic tests on my hat, tuned it and tuned it until the foil was tearing apart,... so below without any further ado...
Behold! The FACTS.
1. Prince visits Wendy & Lisa in their tree house.
2. Andy Allo posts on her Facebook page that she has been going through "The Vault" and releases a snip of an old song titled "We Can Love" containing the lyrics:
I can tell you things to get you all excited, things you never heard.
and lastly! From Prince Himself!
"WE LISTEN 2 24-BIT FILES OF R CURRENT WORK. ON THE OTHER HAND WE LOVE VINYL. ONE JUST NEEDS 2 STUDY THE FACT THAT MUSIC SEEMS 2 SOUND BEST WHEN THERE IS SOME “REVOLUTION” INVOLVED."
Start your fake tracklists NOW!..... before it's too late!

Well, I love nearly every single studio release. Some may be weaker than others like MPLSound, but nearly every release has at least 3 awesome songs, and several very good ones.
When it comes to his mostly weak live shows with background singers singing way too much, and the endless hit heavy shows with weak arrangements...I will bitch and complain. He complicates this by having awesome shows every now and then, which makes the idiots that go to those shows think Prince is on top of his game.
I try to be as intelligent as possible, but usually fail at that, as the internet is full of dumb posts, so I tend to dumb down my own writing.
I tend to think there are several groups of Prince fans on here:
1. Prince is so great, I love everything he does. If the whole concert was Andy Allo playing a 90 minute version of The Wedding Feast, I would be happy. He sure did look young tonight!
2. Prince sucks so bad, I paid $500 for VIP seats, and he played Play That Funky Music for ten minutes, but only sang the first verse of Raspberry beret.
3. All of Prince's albums after Batman are horrible. He had one good song after that (Thieves In The Temple), and then he just plain sucks. But his live shows are all perfect. I have been to 3 million shows, and every one of them should be the next DVD.
4. Then there is me. One of the very few that love all of his albums for the most part, save for MPLSound, most of New Power Soul, and anything involving Tony M.... I love Lotus Flow3r, 3121, Planet Earth, most of Musicology....but his live show has been weak except for ONA in 2002, and Musicology in 2004.

okay well the song titles i presented were in response 2 how some fans react still 2 prince being with the revolution and that time frame. every mention of the revolution people will jump on it with wagging tongues and can't get over that that time frame is gone and since then, prince can't do anything without the revolution. the simple fact that he mentions the word revolution "oh he must be getting back with them. oh damn he met with wendy and lisa something is up" etc.
hopefully now u can understand the titles now man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
