Or what his notes look like.

Then LOOK FOR THEM. There have been plenty of pictures of handwritten lyrics and notes over the years.

Thank God, no mention of burqas. smile

Pretty good interview.

It caught my attention that he slipped up a little and wrote "to" instead of "2" in the following sentence:

"DOING A RESIDENCY IN ANY PARTICULAR CITY REQUIRES A LARGE REPERTOIRE TO ENSURE REPEAT BUSINESS."

music sounds best when some REVOLUTION is involved. I agree I love vinyl and I love the Revolution. Is this a hint?

No, that is Prince's dumb ass way of contacting his former band members.

Haven't you people learned your lessons yet? He's done this same schtick over and over again, and whenever someone actually bothers to ask W&L or any other band member they don't know shit because PRINCE DID NOT ACTUALLY PHONE THEM.

It's just a carrot he dangles in front of your faces and when it inevitably doesn't happen he can blame the others because "they didn't reply". Go check the history of Roadhouse Garden: W&L never got a call yet somehow they got blamed for it not being released.

The ONLY time Prince contacts old band members is when he feels slighted by something they've said or done, and then he sics his lawyers on them.

Most of The Revolution are going to perform at a charity event for Bobby Z soon, and that's why Prince drops this hint: because no sane person has asked about Prince appearing because they know it ain't gonna happen. And that is hurting his fragile ego, so once again he attempts to direct the focus to him.

Do some of you people even know what a "Revolution" is?

It is a sudden change in a system.

I am going 2 use myself as an example;

I have been here 4 21 days, in that short, short period of time, this place (org) has seemed to become more, I don't know, active.

I should try an experiment.

I should delete my account here and join the viewers.

See where this place starts 2 flow to.

So, today I start my Revolution. biggrin

The interviewers questions sucked! You can't go all serious when interviewing Prince cuz then you end up with this-some mess that is really boring and not understandable. In thirty years of reading Prince interviews I've noticed the best ones are just straight up the middle not to serious not to trivial.

THIS BREAK FROM RECORDING IS AN ATTEMPT 2 CURB THE CREATIVE CRAVING. WE’VE ALREADY HAD A RELAPSE OR 2. THIS BAND IS WAY 2 TALENTED NOT 2 B RECORDED. THEY R A BAD INFLUENCE. smile

SO MUCH 4 REASONABLE INTELLIGENCE. LOL!! (KIDDING)

The only striking thing in this interview is for me the smile he put in there! It just really proves he's using the Internet!!!

I bet he's on skype and everything!

Edit: I don't think this is Prince typing there. I imagine he dictates to his employees, and they kinda write what he tells them. That's how those statements handles these days, one smile here and a LOL there, doesn't mean it tells anything about Prince!

Prince has been sueing muthafuckas for years that doesn't mean that if he granted the org an interview that his fans wouldn't want to ask questions or read it. The fact that he sues folks is a good thing! It keeps him from falling into the same trap that another superstar did.

I think he's just making a pun similar to the one the Beatles made by naming an album Revolver. I doubt he intended to convey any information about a possible reunion of his old band.

I enjoyed reading this. He should conduct more interviews this way. It might give his manager (or someone else) a chance to preview his responses and delete references to burqas and the like.

The more I hear/read about Prince, especially the stuff taht comes from him directly, the more annoyed I get.

I mean lets take just a few of the questions/answers - in essence he seems completely oblivious to the fact hes dismissed a good chunk (if not half) of hios back catalogue because it either too racy or this weeks religious/moral/ethical views dont fit that agenda. Then he tries to claim that he makes up the gigs as he goes along in response to what the crowd wants. The comes the claim that he has 'writing addiction' and is just too good that he cant hep himself....somebody hide the pens and do us all a favour

and this “I personally can’t stand digital music. You’re getting sound in bits. It affects a different place in your brain. When you play it back, you can’t feel anything. We’re analogue people, not digital.” is still absolute horseshit - what he done is, much like his piffle about evolition in Colonized Mind, he heard something, twisted it and made it fact. The actual research/fact he talking about is far from the pint he was making - the research showed that a 'digital musician' ie computer lacked the flourish of an individual artist and even when a musician plays the same piece of music over and over again it will be slightly different whereas a computer will repeat it identically - teh human brain picks up on these flourishes and processes them differently..............it has NOTHING to do with the digital format as a recording. Whatever the recording medium the brain still spreads the rhythm, tone and pitch out across three cortex

Speaking of, what can we expect from the set list on these dates? And how do you decide what goes in or out of the mix on a nightly basis when you’re working with a catalogue that deep?

EACH AUDIENCE IS DIFFERENT. WHAT THEY RESPOND 2 MOST FAVORABLY USUALLY DICTATES THE FLOW OF THE CONCERT AND THE CHOICE OF THE MATERIAL. ALSO THE SOUND QUALITY AND THE ENERGY OF THE BAND. U CAN ALWAYS TELL WHEN THE GROOVE IS WORKING OR NOT.

so let's translate this shall we? "i will continue 2 bore my hardcore fans with the same old songs i have been doing over and over since I said i would retire my hits but obviously I lied. I can't really go and sing new material but I will have Andy sing and do a totally new rendition of my songs that used 2 have very heavy sexual content. The sound quality is very important and it's interesting when my fans can't tell I've done the same arrangement of Alphabet St. for years now."

and what's also funny is the mere mention of the word revolution and those that don't want the funk perk up. if Prince was all about the revolution so much, then how come since 1990 the name of his band is the new power generation in so many members? if he was all about the revolution band then he could have just as easily got new band memebers and called it the revolution

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Yeah, and the whole "revolution" word drop was a calculated attempt at getting the fan base riled up into thinking he was giving a hint of things to come with his old band. bored He probably typed all of his answers in all caps just so he wouldn't have to capitalize "the revolution" so he could tease some of the fans by wondering, "Was he not-so-subtly mentioning his old band, or was he just using the words?" Yeah Prince, we're all that dumb. rolleyes

And most of his arena-type audiences are all the same, which he already thinks, so he just hits them with the same ol' hits, with an obscure song or two (mostly sung by someone else on stage) thrown in for good measure (or he may just tease the audience by playing Prince DJ or Karaoke). disbelief
