Because Prince likes the song and I think he once preformed it with Amy. If Amy had not been on drugs he would have tried to scoop her up when she first got started. This is what he does. She wasn't even buried or cremated before he released Andy covering one of Amy's songs. I thought they were being tasteless and very opportunistic. Me too but Esperanza is a talented, mature, and an accomplished artist. Prince would never get her to dance around in circles while he cheers her on like she's a child or a dog. Esperanza doesn't need gimmicks. When Andy danced in circles it reminded me of when a parent tells a toddler or their pet to do a trick or whatever they think is cute in front of family and friends. It was nothing special. Then some people commented on her FB like she created the Electric Slide. If it's on Youtube and Docfunkenberry (the internet) I consider it a release. Not a release for a price but a release for exposure. Andy's singing style is not far from Amy's so I think it was tasteless and opportunistic when they quickly attached Andy's name to an Amy Winehouse song as soon as she died. I'd like to know if Prince and Andy both came up w/ the idea since the other day Andy shared on FB a great skit her and Prince came up with. I didn't get it so I didn't think it was great. I kinda feel like they're trying to tell me they come up with the ideas together and Prince is NOT controlling Andy. As the days go by and these things are put out there (released) by Andy I'm starting to think it's not my imagination.

It's not like Prince or Andy posted the video on Youtube, someone at the concert did. Also, I think it is common practice amongst muscians to cover a fellow muscian's work as a sign of respect. IMO that's all it was. I am pretty sure Prince and Andy were not the only one's singing an Amy Winehouse song during that time frame. Just a sign of Respect.

Yeah, I actually agree with this. He was wanting to add Esperanza to his little group of chicks, but she's committed, so he couldn't get her.

Like you, I'm not a fan of those kind of vocals. I haven't heard Corinne Bailey's version of I Wanna Be Your Lover. I found out through this site Corinne Bailey covered his song. Her voice gets annoying to me after two or three songs so I didn't want to hear her sing one of Prince's songs. I'm only like this w/ Prince bcuz he's my favorite artist. If the covers are not great I don't want it in my head. Cyndi Lauper, Chaka Khan, MeLisa Morgan, and Stephanie Mill have all done great covers of Prince's songs. If the cover is great I want to hear it.

When Andy first appeared on the scene I went to YouTube and found a few of her songs. I wanted to like her voice, I tried to like it....but, I just don't. And I still don't, so I'm not a fan of this latest snippet. I'm glad for all of you that enjoy her singing but her voice is just not for me. I enjoy Bria's voice more, and I don't throw that out there lightly.

I also think the "OUI" Can Funk is dumb, and since I'm complaining here I'll also mention that reading her FB posts where she spells out 'eye' for 'I' is hilariously pathetic.

She's incredibly gorgeous though, no doubt about that!
