2 be frank, Allo can't sing.

I'll take Bria V. over this 1 any day & I wasn't fond of her voice either.

Maybe Prince needs a male protege instead.

Bria's voice is very ambiant and relaxing but that's all it is imo.

If Prince produces an album for Andy, it'll definetly outweigh Elixer in terms of quality of vocals.

If allo was really, truthfully good she would be on the charts by now.

I see another flop, if Prince does but that is his choice of course, not mine.

Here is my metaphor and then I am going 2 be done on the subject of allo:

I can see the train coming.

I can see some1 walking on the tracks, back towards the train with headphones on, full blast.

I can yell all day 2 get out of the way.

I can even run up 2 the person and try 2 push them 2 safety.

But the person is way too hard headed and ballsy 2 accept my help and pushes me away.

Well, I won't be around 2 see the train hit the person and kill them. cool

I know it's a matter of opinion but it still blows my mind when people say Allo can't sing.

I understand if they don't like her style of singing, that's another story.

I however, LOVE her style.

Her version of Kanye West's "Lost In the World" was phenominal.

Not bad............4 a girl.

Not that sexist shit again. Let it die, dude.

It's an ironic statement quoted from the movie. Prince was trying to point out that Shiela was just as good as the male drummers.

"Police on patrol today"? Do you do irony as well?

Well, I'm the first to say Andy Allo doesn't add much to Prince's live performances, but I like this cover.

  1. Her understated delivery (add me to the Suzanne Pleshette fan club, please, rdhull. Thanks for the '70s reminder) worked for me here.
  2. She managed to bring some intensity to it.
  3. I can see this being used in the teaser part of an indie thriller or selling some product aimed at twentysomethings.

What's rdhull?

Her vocal tone coupled with the lyrics of "We Can Funk" makes me just think of some sort S&M stuff with her taking the submissive role.

This 1min demo is amazing and i really hope we can hear the full version in the future!

Andy A. is not only very beautiful, she also hits the notes and has an interesting voice

compared to Prince´s former protégés. Andy could really be a fresh inspiration to P.

Keep on going like that cool

Wouldn't it be a great idea if the rumoured '&Y' -project would contain two discs.
Disc 1. by Andy Allo (&Prince) performing new and old songs acoustic.

Disc 2. only by Prince doing these songs in their own full-band version.

This concept would cover the deeper meaning of the project's title.

Have a look at 'The W2A: Euro Tour Song Survey' http://prince.org/msg/12/362417

The more I listen, the more I like this clip. Absolutely adore Andy's voice! It might not be as powerful as Shelby's (what a set of pipes she has!) but it has a soft, mellow & comforting sound that I dig. Any more of the song please?!

You dont stay on the charts in the US by merely being talented. You chart by being connected. Britney Spears & Rihanna don't have much by way of talent, they have the right music industry heads behind them to make them money. And anything she puts out now will do WAY better than her first album because she has a very well established fan base that knows about her (about 98% of whom never heard of her before Prince took an interest in her).

Change it one more time..

Yes, banishedone is right - of course it's played by P - just like those acoustic versions of "Love is a Losing Game" and "Guitar" that he did (w/ Andy) over the summer. He's played acoustic on MTV and that CNN interview around the Musicology time too.

Don't understand the rant about buying gear at kmart... You seriously think that's Andy playing? clueless

i am pleased if this is indeed prince on acoustic .. his truth record was 'acoustic' and the guitar tones sounded plastic thin and crappy .. not since 'sometimes it snows in april' have i heard anything from prince that sounds even remotely like an actual acoustic guitar .. usually it sounds like he got some guitar with extra light strings and a thin body so he can play it easier .. but the sound is awful .. i have always loved his crazy sounds on his old records .. the new wave shit .. but he went from putting things thru effects and making something cool .. to just sounding plastic and thin on pretty much everything .. rainbow children had great tones .. but crap songs .. still nothing sounding like an acoustic guitar .. thats my gripe .. prince needs to sound more real if he is not gonna sound like a robot space alien purple funk creature anymore ... he just sounds like a crappy cheap knock off u buy at kmart for the last several records due to the equipment he chooses .. its a similar gripe as those who don't like the production of emancipation or new power soul .. its about tone and the instruments he uses to record
