What Is A Prince Concert Like? I've never been to one, seeing how he never toured to San Diego since 04'(I became a fan in 08'). '
I really want to know how the concerts/aftershows were, during 79-95.
I would've loved to have gone to a concert/aftershow from the time period of 85-87.

The Prince shows I went to from 1992 to 2002 were among the best concerts I have ever seen by anyone. Though D&P is one of my least listened to albums, the tour holds a special memories for me as they were my first Prince gigs, I caught 3 of those gigs and they were a total sensation, amazing time.
Other notable shows were seeing Prince in my hometown, and the three Ultimate Live Experience shows were amazing, hearing Prince run through a set of (mainly) new material was a big highlight even then.
Best shows ever were the ONA tour though, that had everything for me, amazing amazing time.
Seeing Prince at the (imo) top of his game was an amazing thing and I feel very lucky to have been there to witness some incredible shows.

Wait a minute. Prince played 21 shows in LA a couple months ago for $25/ticket. Didn't feel like driving two hours?

1. I don't have a car. 2. San Diego to L.A. is a 2 and a half hour drive. 3. I had no money.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
1. Rent a cheap car for $50 or buy your friend a $25 ticket and ask him to drive. With your $25 concert ticket and gas, it's still less than the price of an average concert ticket. 2. Mapquest says 2 hours and 15 minutes from San Diego to Inglewood. Sorry for rounding down. 3. That sucks.

Don't you yanks have buses or trains? And $25 for a concert ticket is fuck all really, in fact were they not even cheaper than that in the end?

Yeah, but I was still in high school and stuff. So I would've been on a tight schedule.

I'll just wait till he finally come back to California.

The man's in his 50's and rounding out his career. If you're a fan of any artist who's getting up there in years, I'd highly recommend finding a way to see him/her before it's too late.

Trust me, I'm going to see him.

Chuck Berry and BB King are in their eighties and still playing. U'll get your chance. I could rave about North Sea Jazz and the Melkweg but I'd probably only make you jealous. At least P has not lost his touch, no matter whar anybody says. And I'm glad to read he's making new young fans!

... there's no way that Prince & The NPG would come to South Florida or Georgia and I would NOT go. One of my bills wouldn't get paid or somethin' ... LoL
His LIVE shows are phenomenal !!! Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

I always fantasized about how going to a Prince concert was in the 79-85 years, hell even after those prime ones as well!
But I sure made it to see Prince Tyler && it wasn't that hard if you had a job However, Prince wasn 't in my state, he was 18 hours away in North Carolina. In high school with budgeting for upcoming prom night && working at McDonald's, I made it out to travel from IN to NC, met up w/ fellow Orgers, had dinner @ AppleBees w/ them, enjoyed concert, bought memorabilia, && came back safely, all on minimum wage! && I'm only 18, that was an amazing experience.
Long story short, if u really wanted to see em, u would've made a way, whether it be asking family, borrowing money, sold some ass, etc etc Plus no kids && no bills, no excuse, haha. But I wish us both luck on seeing him again, cuz he looks like he's enjoying himself overseas in Europe. Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

Dude, you will most likely not get an opportunity like the one you had when he was in LA during April and May. There were 15 shows at the Forum for $25. Access to almost all shows were easy, aside from the final weekend. Damn, I had extra tickets to a few of these shows. I would've had no problem giving a fam, especially a new one, a ticket to one of these shows. I'm sure a lot of those on this site would've carpooled with you to LA also. Most on the site are pretty cool when it comes to situations like this. You just have to let the fams know. Sorry you missed these run of shows.

Hey Tyler
I saw him on the 21 nights tour.... best show i have ever seen hands down! next to Stevie Wonder & Bob Dylan's show.
Prince had these girls come out with horns and he started D.M.S.R And from there it was just... amazing, he was wearing high heels glidding and dancing. He played guitar, piano, bass & sang perfectly like he hasn't aged a bit.
He played a lot of songs i didn't expect like
Uptown Sign 'O The Times If I Was Your Girlfriend She's Always In My Hair 777-9311 Cool Sometimes It Snows In April Free Letigo Endorphinmachine Gold And the intro to Darling Nikki but he stopped there.......
And Sheila E. came out mid show and did A Love Bizare & Glamourous life and rocked the shit out of the drums. Mila Kunis, Adrian Brody & a couple other stars got on stage and danced with Prince to.
And he did 4 or 5 encores he literally would not leave...
So far in my 20 years of life it has been the best concert Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Dude, you claimed you have the time and money to go and see your more than 400 "friends", every year PLUS all over the country, but you cannot even make the time and have the dime for a 25$ Prince show and 2 hour drive? Seriously, you are full of shit and I hate that.

As for the topic question:
A Prince concert is one of the greatest musical experiences in being fan. When you haven't gone to at least one, you are not even half the fan you could be(come).
I would have loved to see Prince live during the SOTT and Lovesexy era, but I was just too late in becomig a fan. Got on the concert ride as soon as I coul with the Nude tour, which was great too, but not nearly as much I think, as SOTT and LS were live. The tour I enjoyed the most as for the musicanship and the show was ACT II in Europe.

His latest tour is second on my list I think.

First of all I never said I had money. Second, the only way I get to see my friends, is from the money I get from Child Support which is $950. Prince was in Cali from April-? I get my money once a year on my birthday which is September 11.
So I'm putting my family and friends before Prince, is there something wrong with that?
Seriously, you need to know the details, and people life before you talk shit...and I hate that.

If you would be an honest and straightforward dude, you would acknowledge that I asked you about these details and that you gave them specifically already. In fact we had an entire conversation about it remember?
So that's why I know you are talking shit. Either on that thread about all your "friends" on FB you are able to see all year long all over the countyr, or on this thread about all your "love" for Prince concerts. But I bet it's both.
$25 and just a 2 hour drive? I would have gone as much as I possibly could! And I am not even that hardcore anymore as I used to be at your age.
Here is some truth for ya: If you TRULY would have had any love for Prince concerts you would have gotten your ass over there. AT LEAST ONCE

Forgive the strong words on this site, Tyler. We remember what it was like to be your age and have no money, which is why we're probably being a bit harsh. We know that an opportunity like you had a couple months ago probably won't come again, and many of us didn't have that kind of opportunity when we were your age. Good luck, and I hope you get to see him soon.

1.Did I once say, I had a certain amount of money? I don't think I did.
2. How the fuck would I have love for a Prince concert, If I never went to one?
3. I was still in school, and I did not have any money.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Harsh words maybe, but really I could be much more harsh. Fuck this shit. I am not from a rich family or anything AT ALL. But when I was 14 (already!!!) I WORKED my ass off to pay for my Prince tickets and finally see him live for the 1st time.
This guy claims he is 19 and a so called "fan" since 4 years almost. Plus he claims he has the time and money to travel across the USA to go and see his more than 400 friends EVERY YEAR. But he can't come up with 25 bucks and arrange transport from SD to LA for a day? BULLSHIT
