Prince is probably one of, if not, the tightest live performers there is on the planet.....

However - A Prince show now is not like a Prince show pre-1998. Now and again you get the odd thing different such as the ONA show in Hammersmith which was an intimate concert. But my first tour I was lucky enough to get to was on the Nude Tour and it was special, Dianmonds & Pearls took it up a noth as a showman and theatrics, Act 11 was similar, Gold Experience was different again, NPS show in London was a little flatter than I had anticipated then the long break from these shores until 2003 (?) and the intimate ONA show mentioned before

BUT - one of the nights on the 2007 21 Nights tour was the worst, most run of the mill Prince concerts I have ever seen - it was short and all strutting around - over rehearsed, the experience has taken a back seat in favour of casual-fan pleasers and safe hits. The final night of 21 nights was buzzing as was teh aftershow but that was morea about what it represented to me and where i was with events in my klife in that.

Its been 4 years since those gogs and every report, every boot just seems exactly teh same - hes rehearsed to death so much so that his shows are a building block of set pieces that yoiure seen dozens of times; exactly the same hit medleys, exactly the same shouts.

Like his music on cd (Or whatever format he isnt bouycotting that month) his live shows are still eagerly anticipated (and they are of a different pedigree to many artists)...but they arent a patch on his own work in past years.

So in short the answer is - nice and safe

All I can say is you live in L.A. and the concert was $25 but you didn't have the time and money?

I mean yeah you could've made the effort.

Next time Prince comes to your town...GO!
