The Max, yea or nay?

This should cause debate.

The Max is a banger for me, even the Tony M rappin. The song is a good attempt at trying to sound more hip/hoppie. Prince pretty much funks it up.

The crooked shoes line is great. Pure funky joy. Dancefloor jizz. love it.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

YES YES YE SYES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES

I love the album & i love this jam... it's very funky and i love Tony M and his raping. People hate him but this is just my opinion and i like a lot of his contributions on the album.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Tremolina

what I love and hate about it is that he uses the melody of "instrumental jam"(smallclub)

Definate yay.

I love how he bangs on the piano on it. Nothing out in the early 90s sounded like it.

Meh, it's just okay. But, apparently, Prince loves the hell out the song's lead line because he brings it up every decade or so.

Hated it when I first listened to the album back in '92. I really like it now. I still hate the pop rock first half of "The Continental".

1) It's the melody from "Rave un2 the Joy Fantastic" and it's only for a few bars. The song itself is not based on that at all. The song was originally written around the same time as "Rave..." and, thus, borrows a lil bit from it.

i think its wack. it was a weak attept to be modern and hip. some new jack swing tracks out back then were way better.

Yep - The original version of "The Max" was planned for the Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic album from '88.

To each his own, I love it personally... but then I pretty much love all of the O)+> album.
