Is Prince actually going to the White House to talk about piracy?

"

He told the Guardian: "I'm supposed to go to the White House to talk about copyright protection. It's like the gold rush out there. Or a carjacking. There's no boundaries." Because of the problem with piracy, he said, he has no plans to record another album"

I know if he said it, its true. But is it actually any truth to this that he is going to the White House? or was he joking?

I STAN and SLAY for Prince LOL.

Prince talking about anything other than why his last ten albums sucks is a waste of his time.

Besides, the piracy quest he's on is dated and has been proven to not have had the effect on the

music industry as was previously suggested. He's tethered to an old business model (making money by selling records included) that DOES NOT WORK.

He should give shit away for free (music, that is), go on tour with affordable ticket prices at smaller venues, sell merch, license his tunes for movies, tv, etc, and have a larger and more accessible on line presence (which includes direct and personal contact with his fan base).

Otherwise, Nelson should stfu.

The model above, crudely put, is a way to appease his regular fans. The way to appease his rabid fans, and they are a'plenty, is to stop putting out dumba$$ coffee table books, club memberships, bottled fragrances and release and sell everything he's got in that vault.

Otherwise, Nelson should stfu.

I think it would be silly and hypocritical for Prince to go to the White House when he doesn't even vote or take part in the political process. In the 2008 election,he didn't even throw his support behind Obama and now he wants to convince Obama to support him and his cause? disbelief

I agree with everything you said.I also think that Prince should just stop releasing new albums. He should just focus on touring and remastering his back catalog. Those are guaranteed ways for him to continue making money and the fans would be thrilled.

Exactly. His stance is one of complete political disengagement and nonparticipation. Since he is much more concerned with God's Kingdom than man's government, he needs to take his issues to the Kingdom Hall. Let the Watchtower Society address his concerns.

The government themselves are pirates. lol

In the alternative French version, he supposedly said, "I'll go to the White House to discuss with the government the issues on copyright." He's offering to go, not claiming he has an invitation. If he were going to testify it would be before some Congressional committee and not the White House. He should probably register to vote first. lol

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

nod See this is why no one should've asked him questions. Again, it just makes him look as if he's into oodles and noodles. lol It definitely sounds more like he's OFFERING to go than being INVITED. Please. ohgoon

I can see it now. Prince at a Whitehouse function:

Prince: "C'mon Barack U-da-Bomb-a - if the whitehouse is black, let us take the radio back!"

Obama: "Say what?"

Prince: "20 churches in a one mile radius brother, we need to champion our similarities, not our differences..."

Obama: "That's all very well Prince, but what has that got to do with..."

Prince: "It's all about 'dem chemtrails, you know..."

Obama: "Chem what?"

Prince: "You know, the ones that are spraying for dog meat to use in hot-dogs ..."

Obama: "...err... well, I don't know anything about that, but hey, we've got this new proposal we're working on for artist rights..."

Prince: "Nah, we don't need that - the prefix to 'contract' is 'CON'. It just makes things smaller"

Obama: "Hmmm... Well, thanks for coming then Prince. You're looking great by the way."

Prince: "Thanks - it's those years of playing electric guitar I tell ya. The electricity keeps me from going bald... and Bible study, and..."

Obama (butting in): "Righteo. Thanks Prince. I got stuff to do now. Later"

Prince: "Owah!!"

toejam, you disappoint me. Prince is a serious artist. There's no way that he would appear before the President of the United States of America and spout such nonsense. He always makes certain that he has a firm grasp on the issues and is able to articulate his points clearly and concisely. Have you learned nothing from his recent television appearances? On Tavis Smiley he made a great point about... No, it must have been on George Lopez when he was referring to...no, that wasn't it. Man, Prince really is on the verge of just being plain old batshit crazy, isn't he?

lawd, I hope not.

Could you imagine?

Senator 1: Mr. Nelson, what brings you to the Hill today?

Prince: The grace of God. I'm sorry I'm late. I had to wait until I could wash the ammonium thioglycolate out of my hurrrr.

Senator 2: No, we mean, what would you like to discuss?

Prince: [stares at the entire panel suspiciously]

[uncomfortable silence]

Senator 1: [clearing his throat nervously]

Prince: [clears his throat]

Senator 2: [scoots nervously, and clears his throat]

Senator 3: Mr. Neslon.... (is interrupted by Prince)

Prince: If a big snake, gives birth to a little snake, what does that little snake become?

Senator 1: Huh?

Senator 2: Mr. Nelson, the proposed subject at hand is piracy of electronic media, an issue

with which much of the industry has been stricken

[mishearing the word "stricken" for chicken, Patti Labelle, who came to support Prince from the general seating area, calls out... ] "did somebody say, chicken? Chile, I just love me some chicken. I've been practicing stir-fry with some of that spicy Gun-pow stuff Lucy Lu taught me...."

Senator 3: Mr. Nelson, could you please answer this question... [is interrupted by Prince]

Prince: No recorders, please.

All senators now looking perplexed.

Senator 4: Mr. Nelson, we're tired of playing games. Could you please cooperate with us...

Prince: Do U own Ur masters?

obama: i love funky music.

prince: funny that. me too. cool

obama: what can i do for you?

prince: stop piracy, or at least make tighter controls.

obama: ok, well we already have laws about it. people break them. how do you suppose i can stop people breaking those laws?

prince: well u cant but can u at least make the penalties tougher? musicians are losing out here.

obama: ur joking right? as an artist, ur already more powerful than i am. its up to you to figure out how u wanna handle it. my advice would be to keep doing what u do. ur prince, right?

prince: no i'm tafkap 0(+>

obama: have u had ur plus sign today? or is it the money ur after? son, sometimes, u cant have both.

prince: so what are artists supposed to do then?

obama: i told u already, laugh, or die... heart
