That's just what I was thinking. Just a few examples:

"I'm sorry, but I'm just gonna have to rape you. Now are you going to get into the tub or do I have to drag you? Don't make me drag you. I can be very cruel." ("Extra Lovable")

"You take them to your crib and you tie them to a chair. Then you make funny faces till they get really scared." ("Superfunkycalifragisexy")

"Nod your head one time if you hear me. If you don't, I'll have to use the rod." ("I Hate U," which is all about putting a woman on trial for being unfaithful.)

All of these songs predate his JW conversion. I think everyone gave him a pass on this kind of stuff, partly because he also wrote "Automatic" in which he's the one being tortured, and partly because he's a little man who doesn't seem that physically threatening.

Prince needs more therapy sessions and less religious study in my opinion.

nod Good examples - and I agree with your conclusion! lol

He needs to call up that shrink in Beverly Hills and listen to his advice this time instead of calling him a fool. It's time to stop searching for the purple banana.

wow, he really has no place in the modern world does he. Does he also support the fact that Mulsim women in Saudi aren't allowed to drive!. As for digital music, well did he actual play back 3121 on a regular sound system and realise just how horrible, loud, muddy some of the trax sounded.

As for not recording another album I think most are not really that fuseed?.

The killer line though is in respect of Glastonberry, like they really need to use his name to flog tickets. Let's see how many turn out for Hop farm. P really needs to get over himself, take a year out, go work and live in impoverished / enslaved nations and come back with a reality check.

By the way how sad is it to see a once true revolutionery slowly but surely kill his legacy and career. Sad times indeed.

Why do you think Bria rides a bike? shrug

He gets them after he kills his career which, at this rate, will be any second.

'fun to be in islamic countries'?...hmmm did he watch the riots in Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Libya. Yeah, these are happening because the islamic world is such a fun place. Being of Muslim heritage [but in no way practicing] I cannot begin to tell you how offensive and totally stupid he sounds. I pray that he was misquoted.

There is an excerpt from an interview with Prince here:

http://www.guardian.co.uk...CMP=twt_fd

There was a time when Prince's idea of fun was something beyond the wildest imaginings of most – his song Gett Off talked of "23 positions in a one-night stand", while Tipper Gore was so shocked when she heard her daughter listening to Darling Nikki she founded the Parents Music Resource Center to police perceived obscenity in pop. At 53, though, the eccentric star no longer sees sex as the be all and end all of a good time.

In an exclusive interview with the Guardian's Film&Music, Prince said: "It's fun being in Islamic countries, to know there's only one religion. There's order. You wear a burqa. There's no choice. People are happy with that." When asked about the fate of those unhappy with having no choice, he replied: "There are people who are unhappy with everything. There's a dark side to everything."

Prince embraced religion in 2001, when he became a Jehovah's Witness. "I was anti-authoritarian but at the same time I was a loving tyrant," he told the Guardian. "You can't be both. I had to learn what authority was. That's what the Bible teaches. The Bible is a study guide for social interaction.

"If I go to a place where I don't feel stressed and there's no car alarms and airplanes overhead, then you understand what noise pollution is. Noise is a society that has no God, that has no glue. We can't do what we want to do all the time. If you don't have boundaries, what then?"

Prince's views on the internet, however, have not changed. He has long been a vociferous critic of those who feel they have the right to post his music or even his image online – in 2007 his lawyers instructed fansites to remove all photographs and images related to his likeness. He told the Guardian: "I'm supposed to go to the White House to talk about copyright protection. It's like the gold rush out there. Or a carjacking. There's no boundaries." Because of the problem with piracy, he said, he has no plans to record another album.

His unease about the web is not just a matter of legality for him, however, but one of aesthetics. "I personally can't stand digital music," he said. "You're getting sound in bits. It affects a different place in your brain. When you play it back, you can't feel anything. We're analogue people, not digital."

Despite the effects of the internet on his album sales, Prince remains one of pop's biggest stars. In 2007 he played 21 nights at the 20,000-capacity O2 arena in London, selling out all of them and grossing a reported $22m (£13.7m). He criticised the organisers of this weekend's Glastonbury festival, claiming the annual rumours that he is to play the festival are just an attempt to sell tickets on the back of his stardom. "They use my name to sell the festival," he said. "It's illegal. I've never spoken to anyone about doing that concert, ever."

I don't even have any words. I love Prince, but damn. This has to be cherry-picked pieces of what he said - and unfortunately that's what's going to happen when you don't allow the interviewers to record you, or even take notes.

They're only going to remember the most sensationalist parts of what you say.

That is probably the most pathetic and disheartening thing I've ever read from Prince.

What a fucking cretin.

Its sad but I have to agree with you, even God himself (the God of the bible anyhow) won't come down here and take your freedom of choice away. Nope, it takes man to do that.

If he's gonna say stupid shit like that I wish he'd just quit talking and shut the fuck up and go away!

If he's that miserable with life and other people having choices in life then we don't need another album from him. He can take his millions become a hermit and go live in a mountain somewhere till he withers up and leaves this mortal coil.

Don't really know what has happened to the dude. Sounds like not for the better.

still doesn't justify the comments in any way, couldn't care less if the whole article talks about saving trees, adopting babies from around the world, the need to end war etc the fact remains that he still came out with it. These selected quotes are like a piece of shit that landed on a big ole cake, you can scoop the shit out but it won't look or smell any different - it's still a piece of shit. Rather like Prince is these days in fact!

Which Muslim countries did Prince perfom or vacation in lately?

Abu Dhabi

I find the entire interview suspect, honestly. Prince went to Abu Dubai, sure. And I think the notion that there is such thing as an "moderate" islamic country to be a bit off kilter--they're conservative by all accounts. The only ones I would consider remotely "moderate" by Western standards (And yes, I'll presume and state that I support the Western standard) are Turkey and Malaysia. But I won't get into that.

The first reason why I find this interview suspect is Prince didn't perform in a theocratic state so far as I know. I believe there's freedom of religion there (as there is in several majority muslim countries), and there isn't "one" religion. Shit, there are so many immigrant workers from Asia there, it's bound to have large Buddhist and Hindu populations there. So, it can't possibly be a one-religion country. That leaves two possibilities---Prince is bat-shit crazy or he was misquoted. And, honestly I can't see how he would be that gravely mistaken. Actually there is one other theory--perhaps he did say something similar to that but meant it in a flowery allegorical way--he was trying to make a point towards something else. Even this though, I find suspect.

As far as him not recording anymore: That seems suspect. I would imagine him recording all the time, but having no intention of releasing anything anymore.

Honestly I couldn't give a rat's ass if he does release anything anymore. lol

Don't get me wrong, if he does, I'm sure I'll obtain it for free somehow, but I really can't be bothered to get worked up about whether he does nor not. He keeps watering down that ever elusive 'legacy' of his with current lackluster material anyways.

But, I don't even know what the Guardian is. It just seems a bit sensationalist and suspect to me--that's all.

The Guardian is a liberal/left-wing newspaper, it's highly respected but does have a jokey image of being very 'right on' here.

They used the most sensational part of the interview for the headline sure - that makes sense doesn't it?... If you've got some nutter saying stupid shit, you're gonna use the juiciest parts as the headline draw.

Here's a link to a previous thread, where a moderator from moquake previously stated in an old thread, that the link is a fake Twitter account.

Read replies #162 - #164, on that thread confirming it's a fake Twitter account and that Prince's team was notified of it back then.

There have been many threads demonstrating that it's a fake Twitter account. But some here will choose to believe a fake Twittter account rather than a respected British newspaper.

Listening to Funkadelic right now. Someone's been sucking Prince's brain until his ability to think is amputated.
