LOL. That doesn't surprise me AT ALL. He is just living in his own world, and he is really old fashioned. But hey, I don't know for sure, I don't know the man, I would not judge him. I agree with things he said, and I disagree with things he said. Everyone has their own vision and view on things, you can't change that. If i'm speaking for myself, I'm also bit old fashioned, I also hate digital music(well I have it, but I'm not gonna pay for it. So I mean Itunes, etc. Hell no. I buy my vinyl, and my cd's, because it's my hobby to collect vinyl , cd, etc, etc.) I love internet, and I spend many hours on the internet, but it also has a lot of negative sides. It makes me sick sometimes, I read things that I shouldn't read or it keeps me away from doing other things, so on that, I get what he is trying to say. And I also fear for the music industry, I'm afraid for that the cd will dissapear , and there only will be ''digital music'' yuk. And well, I have a phone, but I don't care about it at all. I don't do anything with it, and there are days that I have my phone off. I only have a phone because I need it sometimes when I go out and parents need 2 call me. But otherwise, I don't think I would have a phone either lol. About his religion views, well I can't judge him on that. I don't know him, so I love him for who he is on stage , his ''stage persona'' and his music, nothing more than that. I think this interview sucks, and will give people a wrong impression of him. Because nobody knows the man. I don't think he is a bad guy or something, or that he is an idot. Aren't we all crazy? Don't we all have their own view and vision on things? Prince is eccentric en made a lot of ''strange'' comments, so.. But I understand people don't like what he is saying here, it is a bit disrespectful, what he said. Yes, I agree with that. But I don't think he meant it that way.. it just came out of his mouth... I guess..

My take: Prince does not really want to live in a country that forces everyone to follow a certain religion or dress a certain way, because the state might pick a different religion than his own (and he has been known to change his mind anyway). To that extent, he knows he made a stupid comment. But the comment reveals an unpleasant truth, in that he really does wish people all followed the same rules--his rules--and he doesn't like it when women are too independent. There are lots of rules in Paisley Park these days. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Actually, I expect to see a lot of comments expressing surprise that Prince is still alive, or asking who Prince is. At least that's what we saw in the Dallas papers when he cancelled his concert here. But maybe he is better known in the U.K. thanks to his recent hit newspaper albums. As for the rest of it... I love Prince, and this is why. "Aren't you even curious? Don't you want to see the dragon behind the door?"

Oh dear, I nearly peed my pants when I saw your comment...
Back on topic: Are his claims on Islamic countries stupid? Yes! But he actually probably realised this when he gave the interview, hence the attempt to explain himself. The point I get from it (and that I assume he wanted to make) would be that limiting freedom can make sense, but the example he picked simply was a trainwreck.
Anyway, things get a bit blown out of proportion here imo. It's known for ages now that Prince lives in his own world with his own sometimes strange views. He probably already did in 1984, he just didn't give interviews back then. I can somehow understand how this might happen. A superstar who cannot even walk out of his house and buy some milk, but rather has five ass-kissers willing to do it for him, and who actually makes a living out of stimulating other people's fantasies (any fantasies, so to speak... ) will end up living in a bubble someday, unless he has reliable people surrounding him. Well, if he's not that good at maintaining long-term friendships and relationships, that's not exactly easy to achieve, and this is what probably happened to Prince.
His comments were stupid, but so have been numerous other comments by other popstars. What about Morrissey's publicly announced wishes of several people (former bandmates, politicians, people who he thinks mistreat animals etc.) being dead?
