This is like watching something in 3D when you've been watching it in black and white for years.

Who's playing that guitar intro? Wendy or Prince?

I haven't listened to all of it yet, but that Something In The Water so far is the hotness. BrownMark was holding it down too well.

Feels like a Prince solo, but I can't tell for sure.

I've said for YEARS that so many people sleep on Brownmark's playing. His shit was ALWAYS ultra funky, even during the ballads. Add on top of that some of the choreography he was keeping up with, and you'll see he was a bad brotha!! He was always my bassist of choice, even over the almost always preferred by the online community Sonny T. Even P thought so too when Andre left! lol

I think so too. It sounds a lot like the playing at the beginning of "Something in the Water" when he makes it clear that he is playing. But since there's no video, it's hard to say for sure.

Absolutely. nod Although, overall he's my second favorite, after Rhonda.

Good lord drool

I was waiting for "Roadhouse Garden" little did I know that the whole thing is a feast. I agree with whoever commented on Mark Brown's bass playing, this is def a great display of his talent.

I don't have to rewind in order to repeat something I might've misheard? Man, talk about a helluva work.

Nah, Rhonda ain't got shit on Mark. She had absolutely no dancing steps to make (she just stood there and played; BORING!!, but I know this is mostly Prince's fault) and almost looked at times as if the bass was too heavy for her. lol She could certainly slap and play that MFer, don't get me wrong. One of my personal favorite Rhonda moments was "DMSR" in LA on the Musicology tour. But, she doesn't hold a candle to Mark, IMO. She had problems getting "Let's Work" down correctly, I remember reading from a Prince interview in the early 2000s. Brownmark had that shit down, naturally!!

What a fantastically convincing statement. lol Ok then, they're both #1 for me now. I just can't drop her rank still, 'cause I've always liked her cool-mellow style, but nonetheless, I have to agree with you that Mark was superb technically as a bassist-performer. thumbs up!

Brownmark's bass playing is on fire. I used to sleep on his playing a bit, but he really turns it out in this performance.

I couldn't agree more. Honestly though, the entire band sounds amazing. The version of Irresistible Bitch here is perfect.

Yes, it really is. Even including the part when it sounds like he stumbles over the microphone stand, LOL. lol

Beautiful. The only "complaint" I have is that P's guitar is too subdued. Now, granted, you get to hear the intricacies of the synth and the bass, but something i enjoyed with the early low generation machinations was that P's axe was GROWLING. Absolutely rampaging. Granted, it's not how it was supposed to be heard, but I got used to the loudness and started to love it. Still, hard to find fault with this near flawless release.

It's def Prince. He played something similar in that First Ave rehearsal video.

Listening right now, am up to Irresistible Bitch. Stunning!

Had a couple of versions of this show, including the recently released 26. Haven't really been able to listen to them for as much as I appreciate the releases, I struggle with poor quality boots. But this... This is simply amazing, what a show, what a gem of a release.

Who sits on this for all this time? There must be shit loads of this stuff out there with private collectors.

RIP sad

Thanks to Anonymous, FBG, and 4DaFunk! The sound quality (and the patch on "Something in the Water") is just impressive. Now, the quality of the music is another matter... Maybe I need to listen to this recording a couple of times. Or maybe I just don't "get" the Revolution... lol
