I didn't like the interview. He asked alot of lame questions. Get a fan in there! mad

What would you have asked?

When talking about the industry and Prince's recording rehab, I would have wanted to know what Prince thinks he's adding to changing the industry, and also how, and where he sees the music in 10-20 years time.

And since the tour is called Welcome 2 America, and he's been playing outside the US since 2004(?) - and on an American 'tonight' show reaching a lot of Americans - I would ask; so what have you experienced out there, what have you learned from traveling and visiting so many countries and cultures, and what do you BRING BACK to the US? Elaborate on that tour title please, there are many connotations to that title, both in terms of history, cultural heritage(s) and how the world is taking shape today...

Oh, blue light...

"I kept all my records." headbang lol

I've really been trying to get used to it, but I just don't like the chord progression through the spoken part of Beautiful Ones. Not really diggin' the synth sounds used throughout, either. Makes the whole things sound like a happy D&P era track, and that's just not the right vibe.

Sometimes live versions make tracks shine, but seeing Laydown performed doesn't change my mind about it being such an awful song shake

The interview was intriguing in that I learned some things from Prince, I never knew existed! (Like the fact: 1) He's taking a break from writing music...[Self Described Music Rehab],

Please, he's been saying that for years.

I also learned that he forgets his lyrics sometimes..BUT I mean who wouldn't after writing hundreds of songs..lol)

He's been playing the same songs for the past 15 years.

The Beautiful Ones was pretty awesome! The piano playing and his vocals were very sharp!

There was zero emotion in his voice. Hence: crap performance.

Laydown, The Beautiful Ones, You're The One For Me (D-Train cover).

They're all still up on popular video sites with the interview.

Has or is he not doing enough 2 answer this question. He is an independent artist, and does not rely solely on radio. He relies on live performances to connect directly with his fans. I think that the last decade of Prince's musical endeavours, from releasing in newspapers to practically "giving away" music is a true example of how he's changed this game.

It's ironic that Prince thinks music is devalued by free access to it, since he's been giving it away himself for years with concert tickets and newspapers. idea

what i dont understand is that he complains about covers, yet he records and plays covers himself. I mean come on.

lol, usual contradictions from P. Everyone needs to chill, this show is about shifting tickets and I will be amazed if it didn't have some sort of success in achieveing that. Agree that his vocals on The beautiful ones was weak but Laydown was fine as was his guitar playing. The interview was light and fun. It's always good to see and hear him and I can think of far worse perfomances he has given on such shows.

Hmm, it was ok but not great. I'n not really a fan of "Laydown" and this live version didn't change my mind, the guitar was nice though.

When Prince was handed that drum I thought it was a jetpack! (think James Bond and the opening scene of Thunderball.)

hmmm...thought it was one of prince's so-so tv performances....didnt grab me at all....he is always watchable but if you compare it to nights when he really is up for it....the snl appearance a few years ago of 'fury' ...this doesnt compare....when he is up for it....he is amazing...when he isnt....its just so-so....

As an advert for his 21 Nights, that was a truly horrible performance.

Laydown is a shit song off an average album which hasn't been distributed in the States. His rapping in it comes off like an old artist desperately trying to sound hip, and it's not a good 'live' song. It does nothing to showcase what an unbelievably great live performer he is.

Why did he appear to be so angry? When you see him live, he's playful and cheeky. But Laydown was delivered with a real miserable, can't-be-fucked attitude.

The Beautiful Ones - felt a little soulless. I don't mind the theatre of the performance with Misty, but the synths sounded horrid at key points in the song.

The cover version was the best of the three performances. At least it was fun.

Having been to three of the 21 Nights in London gigs, I really hope that the LA ones are every bit as good. But overall, I thought it was a really disappointing performance.

True! It's just that sometimes it feels like the way he moves is not entirely thought through, as if he does what he does in the spur of the moment - which I love him for btw. But I would like to know, or hear him comment on a more strategic and visionary level as well. And again, the learning perspective: are there any of these experiences where he has obviously gone against or done things differently in the industry that has surprised him, or taught him new things about himself, his music, his fans... I guess I wanna hear him reflect on his own music and (changing business), and not 'only' be given the product... To me, that's what makes an interview interesting, getting the insight, getting to know the other parts view, I mean that is the meaning of the word right? inter-view!? If I want light and fun, I'll watch commercials or AFV...

Yeah that's what I thought - it was like he just hadn't slept enough.

Wonder what the Stylistics (or whoever wrote Betcha By Golly Wow) thought of that interview.

Shaving off his moustache takes years off him, he looked well young.

D Train was good fun, all the girls were on form big style. Twinz are looking GOOD.

Great Laydown version, especially the "bounce" part with the extra rhythm, beat and tight guitar. Loved the cover, hot latin vibes, super percussion!! Really funky dance track to "letitgo" and Shelby's voice suits it perfectly.

So glad he did some piano. I thought the vocals were expressive in Beautiful 1s; it's still such a gorgeous song today and Misty's ballet certainly adds to it. Good performance overall, I'm happy. razz

You must not be observant. And Prince's "candy" has been shit for years now so okay.

Fams: if you really thought prince was good last night then you wouldn't be sniping at me and looking so insecure.

It was a slick enough performance, but it lacked any new spark for me. It's odd- in this performance it's like Prince became a glossy lazerprint of his rough, raw, and creative old self. And for me the 'showbizzy' sound of the band just sounds cheap. Liked the dramatic entrance on LID though!

I have to say, dissapointed with the orgers again tonight,,,theyre comments are weak and spewing the same old hate /criticism. Cant they think of anything new? I cant believe they even watched that GLO show? What were they thinking? Wish they would just listen to P classic albums and stay content with the past and stop trying to listen to new music or watch new performances. Better to just pop in Purple Rain or Sign O Times DVD. Why even come to this website? Man, u orgers dissapointed me once again,,,ya'lls careers are over.

very on point and funny. Some of these folks live to hate. If Prince is so bad and going down hill why do they feel the need to watch his every move and smell his every fart? They are more ridiculous then prince can or ever will be. They don't like the new music, don't like the performances compared to the past yet they hang on as if Prince is going to get younger and blow there idiot minds.
