This summer? Wow. I'd like that very much.

Who said that? > Prince himself?...a musician from the NPG group?.....this would be cool but there is 99% that this film you are talking about will never see the light of day...i don't see Prince release a project film 6 years old aged!

Hmmmm, doesn't this sound strangely familiar?
Isn't it funny how all these completely separate companies all fail to adequately promote him.

Some random guy. So I don't know this to be true. This better antonb and PurpleSpirit319

Thanx anyway!

oh, boo frickin hoo!. This is just Karma coming back to bite him in the ass. Think about all the videos he has had taken down over the years [inc official ones & associated artists!!], think about all the 'you do not have permisssion to use...' messages he and his team send out. I have zero sympathy about the SNL Fury video. Universal sound like they were 100% right not to back another vanity project that would have probably sold minimal quantities. One could argue the case for a lack of promo during AI but the CD already had a tonne of promotion and if the public really were THAT bothered they could easily have searched for it...oh wait ...fuck me it wasn't even on ITunes!!!.

You have a somewhat vaild point but, let's keep in mind that people who frequent music online do not all use iTunes. The last thing I used iTunes for was to add music on my iPod but, that's far and in between because when's the last time Prince sold an album on iTunes and I could honestly care less if it is on iTunes or not.
Karma has nothin' to do with it, P is not hurting for $ (as far as I know) or needed the promotion of iTunes, MTV or VH1 any longer, cats a independant artist, now. & I'm feelin' that ... Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

o.k. were the trax actually anywhere online at the time of A.I.? - I am 99% sure the answer was no?. The point though is made far more sweetly by Adele here in the U.K. She did one of the all time great live performances of her single 'Someone[like you]' at the UK Brit awards and guess what?- it was up and ready to buy soon after which subsequently got her to the top of the download charts quicky AND more importantly catapulted her to mega success. So an amazing performance + quick and very easy availability of music = massive success. The A.I. performance was a very weak choice of track, he looked awful and the music wasn't available and somehow Universal are to blame for this? Gimme a break. Anyway back on topic, keep this video in the vault, your intentions may have been good but I suspect the end product wasn't.

Ahh so this movie really happened......

hopefully we'll get to see the finished product one day.

This is great, I wish he had released it...I would have been first in line to buy it and would watch it over and over again probably! Its still not to late, Prince could still do us a favor and give it to us now that its leaked. Seeing that trailer wet my appetite for another Prince movie! Ughhhhh, I want it to see it! Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

Well, it's pretty good looking footage, and looks like there's footage of him in the studio. My interest is piqued.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I'm not sure if someone's posted this already but the 3121 CD does say "the music" on it so this was probably intended to be released as "3121: The Documentary" at the time and Prince changed his mind.

Posted already but thank you for your input. Keep this thread going. Maybe P will "Release It" This better antonb and PurpleSpirit319

Wow, I truly wished that he would just finish this project and put it out and do additional filming and make it into something that could be sold online for those who want to purchase. Those who don't want it then don't buy it. It seems whatever he does will not please some of you which of course is your right but don't complain if others like and want this product. Like the song says Release it!!!

I really do hope that this is true, because it would be awesome! I live alone with the people in my head

This is the ORG.
If this footage ever gets released either legitimately or bootlegged everyone on here will attempt to obtain. Then 85% of the ORG membership will spend the next 2 years complaining about it (cost, quality, storylines, song choices et al.) and secretly hoping that you will eventually complain about it as well.
This clip is already up for download and trust it's been downloaded a lot already.
I personally hope it gets some type of release cause it looks like it's hot! When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I linked to it on my facebook and there were loads of peope I didn't even know liked him saying it looked amazing how they always loved him and they would love to see this.
I think in a place full of hardcore fans we can forget how many casual fans still love the mans work and would buy it if they heard about it. I think the only thing that seperates the hardcore from the casual fan with Prince is the staminar to find out when it's being released.

That doesn't mean it was that great. If it was, it would have been released. And I'm betting Universal thought it was a fans-only release, and the general public wouldn't have cared about it. If Prince wanted to make a great movie - with a storyline or even a concert film, he should let Spike Lee or someone of his caliber DIRECT it. As long as they are in charge of everything non-musical: editing, script, plot, photography, etc - it could be great. As soon as he takes over it becomes a fans-only project. And I don't mind that so much. I may like or even love it, but why would a major label want to pour millions of dollars into it, only to see it die in the theaters? That is not a good rule of thumb with Prince Rogers Nelson.

Agreed - Prince has never officially released some of his best work! !

What's stranger is that once they have made their money they drop the shit out the project. Remember these are P&D deals and they are not the owner's of the master tapes. Once they get their percentage they say fuck it and leave him holding the bag. He says fuck it because he is not getting on these programs to promote the project. It's really a fucked up situation because in the end we (the fans) are the ones missing out.

CB777, why promotion was stopped…
Prince felt Universal was not doing their part to promote 3121. As someone who helped behind the scenes of 3121, he was completely right. Most of the promotion for 3121 was viral n Internet based. I let that be known.
A huge ball was dropped when he did “American Idol” and not 1 mention of his latest CD being in stores. Major exposure and not 1 mention where those songs were from. The “fans” knew, not the general public. 40 Million plus watched AI that night. Should have been able to sell a million more at least.
Universal also could not get clearance to use the version of “Fury” that was performed amazingly on Saturday Night Live. Interesting. Also upsetting when that is what Prince wanted n was the right choice. NBC/Universal owns Saturday Night Live, but yet you could not get clearance for that performance to be the video? Hmm.
So, after the BET Awards performance that year, Prince attempted to re-negotiate the agreement with Universal. If they did not come to his terms, he would halt promotion on his end of the project. Obviously, they did not.
I understand where Prince was coming from. Completely agree. I do wish when the CD dropped, he was doing Leno, Ellen, n other shows. I would say Oprah….but…let’s just say Lenny gets invited to Oprah….Prince..not so much.
The 3121 movie would have been cool. 3121 is one of his best cd’s. It proved he has lost nothing and whenever he decides, he can throw you that party album.

Hmmm. I did see the docu that you were talking about but that was in an early version of the film n always looked to me to be bonus footage. The “finished” project I saw did not have that in it at all.
Yes, the people working for him were doing stuff behind his back. The “big black dude” you are talking about is a cool guy named Miguel……. " />
