Prince the Vegetarian Prince looks terrific. I believe his youthful appearance is because he's a vegetarian
Thanks to P, I recently made the switch. I lost 15 pounds the first month (without working out). My mood has improved dramatically, my energy level has increased, my skin looks better (oranges), and I haven't been sick once. I'm almost at my high school weight ( a few pounds to go) in a reasonably short period of time.
Now I wish I'd changed my eating habits long ago. My question is how many orgers are vegetarian or vegan? And do you try to persuade others to make the switch?
Anyone who doesn't think not eating meat get results should find a recent picture of Mike Tyson. He's lost like 130 pounds and looks terrific.
thanks for listening. Thanks again Prince for showing us the way

I know vegetarians that look old and are fat. Sometimes genetics play a role in how good you look and how you handle stress does, too. I think Prince is just young looking because of make-up and how he wears his hair.

I also think he uses a regular skin regime. That also plays a BIG part in the aging process. If u don't cleans properly and moisturize, you will definitely look "old" faster. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I could never be a vegetarian. I love the pleasures of the meat as much as the pleasures of the flesh.
Plus, man is omnivorous by nature. I don't think it's healthy (for the body and the mind) to eat just plants.

Prince is a vegan...no animal products...Erykah Badu is Vegan too, she looks amazing as well (but, she always has now that I think about it..) It's expensive to be vegan! The alternative cheeses, meats, etc...are double what the real thing costs..You really have to plan your meals ahead and be prepared. There are a lot of Vegan restaraunts popping up (Souley Vegan is in Oakland, I am not affiliated with the restaraunt)...No Worries in Oakland is Pilipino Vegan. There is a great cook book called "Vegan Soul Kitchen" by Bryant Terry...check it out if you're interested.

I used to be a strict vegetarian from 1999-2004, then I started eating fish again, and these days I even eat red meat on rare occasions. I wish I could go back to that vegetarian lifestyle again but I must admit that I feel better as an omnivore. When I was still a vegetarian, I put on a few pounds because I was constantly hungry and I had a huge craving for all kinds of carbs. And the meat substitutes tasted very bland ( we don´t have Morning Star products over here). I also read that soy was bad for men, so I stopped eating soy products, and there´s not that much left when you need protein and don´t want to eat soy products. These days, I´m seriously considering a semi-vegetarian diet again but I doubt I´d go back to being a full vegetarian again. The psychological stress or pressure were also a bit too much for me ( turning down food that was made by people who really cared about me, ignoring invitations, being a snob at parties, not eating the protein that my body was craving etc.) . However, I don´t really feel comfortable eating meat because I know that it´s ethically wrong, and even though I´m considering a plant based diet with occasional fish, I know very well that eating fish is probably even worse than eating meat.
But all this had no and of course never should have nothing to do with how and what a rockstar chooses to eat or not eat. My first attempts were based on ethical reasonings in my late teens ( it was a disaster and my doctor had to give me B12 injections and zinc tablets) and my second attempt between 1999 and 2004 was triggered by my stay in London and the mad cow disease back then.
I know a lot of vegetarians who look very fat, old and unhealthy, and I know a lot of meat eaters who look very healthy and energetic. I think having a lot of money (in Prince´s case) also plays a huge role.
I wonder if Prince is still a vegetarian these days. I know he still was in 2002. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Corre
Correct - part of P's youthful appearance is definitely due to his diet. You are what you eat, after all.
I have been a vegan for around 18 months and I turned vegetarian about 5 years prior to that. Two of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. I've never been healthier and I'm far more motivated and positive than I used to be.
I do try and educate others but without preaching. There is absolutely no need in a modern society to eat meat or animal by-products, and the lies spread by the meat and dairy industries are sickening.
My own personal reasons for being vegan are an even balance between ethical issues and health issues. As Dewrede says - meat is murder, and I refuse to support making commodities of living beings. Part of our responsibility as the highest form of intelligence is to have compassion. Pigs, for example, are as intelligent as 3 year old human children and can solve puzzles and perform tasks. There is simply no need and no reason to be killing these animals and treating them so inhumanely when they are alive.
Most dairy cows are kept pregnant every year via insemination in order to increase the milk flow. Then, the calves are killed for veal, and when the cow naturally begins to produce less milk, which is generally only part-way through their natural lifespan, that is when they are killed. It's disgusting, immoral and wrong.

I've been leaning towards a vegetarian diet. Seems healthier and Prince seems an example of that. Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! REAL MUSIC by REAL MUSICIANS - Prince "I kind of wish there was a reason for Prince to make the site crash more" ~~ Ben |

Prince looks young for the same reason that Cher does. He spends a good deal of money to have his face sculpted to look that way.

Just like so many other things Prince was once militant about, his vegetarianism is a thing of the past.

Actually I was thinking about this the other day because of something said on the Peach & Black podcast.
Prince is very gung-ho about things when he goes into them, making public and artistic statements about them, but when he's done with them (as he often tends to be, being very contrary and changeable), it's rare that you ever hear about these things from him in any great detail ever again.
This can be anything from band members and associates (there are many stories of when a band member is out, their name is not to be mentioned again by staff etc), to vegetarianism, and, the example that jogged my memory on the podcast - his marriage to Mayte. I think in that case he had to say something, because it was a matter of legal record (a divorce), but the way he did it was to give a press conference announcing their annulment because of his attitude to CONtracts - this of course was complete and utter hog wash. But it was an interesting illustration of how Prince spins things for public consumption - and maybe this is done because he senses his actions will be regarded as weakness or failure.
This is why I think if he ever did fall out with his ol' pal Jehovah, there wouldn't be any great denouncement, it would just fall by the wayside, or be purposefully phased out, possibly with another self-made personal mythology that explained it (a la Lovesexy, Coincidence/fate etc, etc)
All that from a podcast about Rave - Which is good because now I can actually think of one interesting thing about that POS album

It's definitely a factor, and I'm assuming that he's on some type of calorie restricted diet that slows down aging (they are PROVEN to do that).
But I suspect he's had 'work' done too. He's definitely dying his hair, and has been doing so for some time. (I know, I know--time is a trick.) You're a real fucker. You act like you own this place--ParanoidAndroid <-- about as witty as this princess gets! I hope everyone pays more attention to Sags posts--sweething Jesus weeps

Whole grains, vegetables and fruit in season are our friends
Whole grain brown rice contains every mineral and vitamin available to us. It's natures perfect food, by itself, it is the seed and the fruit. It can be kept for ages if stored properly. Stock up now
True, it takes a lot of time and preparation to utilize the 'good' food that surrounds us, but for health and longevity, it is the way to go.
If the same amount of acres were used to grow grain rather than be used as land to graze animals, before their killing, there would be no hunger in our world.
True, in some nothern climates, years ago, man was forced to eat meat in order to survive. But today, that is no longer true, and most people have a choice.
When circumstances arise on a social level, someone might be offered 'meat.' When we encompass the totality of the universe, for the purpose of being 'in unity' when we are offered a food we normally choose not to eat, I think it's okay to partake. The purpose overrides the kind of food we are ingesting. We can transmute the source of food into a love for something that means more like: love 4oneanother, respect for others beliefs and a willingness to let something larger than us guide us.
Opposites attract. Once we eliminate the very 'yang' food that we find in meat the less likely we will be attracted to the "yin" substances like, sugar, alcohol and drugs. I stopped eating red meat more than 30 years ago. I could still loose a few pounds and only a bit more of discipline would fix just that

Depends where you live. It's easy as hell in Portland to be vegan... not as much here in the UK but it's still pretty easy.
Making the switch was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. |
