Plus, man is omnivorous by nature. I don't think it's healthy (for the body and the mind) to eat just plants.

This has already been addressed, but this is quite uninformed on a few points.

Anyway, I've been a vegetarian going on five years now; recently, I've also been buying soy milk to try to minimise my intake of dairy--as it drains my energy.

It is my plan to cut out all meat in my diet eventually. Years ago I cut out pork with minimal beef. As of now my family and I only eat chicken, turkey and seafood. I am a work in progress but I expect to continue on my journey to a diet free of animal meat and by products.

Question, to those who decided on a vegan lifestyle, was the process gradual or just an overnight epiphany? Thanks!

Prince is no longer a vegan. Vegetarian all the way. He says that eating fish every once in a while is okay, but is worried about mercury levels, so he rarely does it. He has never tried the fake meat products and I have seen him eat potato soup without bacon, but if you didn't know already, chicken stock is the base. That being said, the man eats a lot of soup and salad. So there ya go!

I could read you poetry and then we could make a story of our own.

I've been veggie since 1990. Couldn't imagine living any other way. I no longer try to convince others not to eat meat, but I try to lead by example & always answer questions when asked.

Prince is a vegan...no animal products...Erykah Badu is Vegan too, she looks amazing as well (but, she always has now that I think about it..) It's expensive to be vegan! The alternative cheeses, meats, etc...are double what the real thing costs..You really have to plan your meals ahead and be prepared. There are a lot of Vegan restaraunts popping up (Souley Vegan is in Oakland, I am not affiliated with the restaraunt)...No Worries in Oakland is Pilipino Vegan. There is a great cook book called "Vegan Soul Kitchen" by Bryant Terry...check it out if you're interested.

Eating meat should be more expensive than fruits and vegetables. You can purchase a 10 pound bag of potatoes, a bag of seedless oranges, apples for about 3 bucks each . Cabbage, beans, raisins, oatmeal, popcorn, peanut butter, rice, whole wheat bread, broccoli, spinich, carrots, pasta etc are fairly inexpensive. I don't eat tofu or any of that made for vegan stuff.

I read an article which said going veg could save you around 4 grand a year.

I have been a vegetarian for 13 years, since highschool.

I don't know if it's healthier lifestlyle, it depends on your genes a lot IMO, but I feel great and energetic. I am doing it for ethical reasons and this is something that is always with me, it's a lifestyle, a way of thinking and it keeps me relaxad and satisfied that I cause much less cruelty towards animals than most of us.

I have to say that Prince, as a free minded person, was a big inspiration for me to follow that path, but it's not clever to follow the stars, because they change their habits as most of them are trend-whores smile

You have to think about your own valuest and life, before doing ANYTHING!

Plants are alive as well. They are born, and grow up, and reproduce and die.

I guess after that stupid veganism, people will start eating sand so as not to make plants suffer.

But spiders eat flyes and they don't need to be sorry for that.

Hmmm confused I was a vegetarian once but am naturally low on iron so quit.

Then a very healthy friend of mine, a vegetarian, who cycled everywhere, didn't drink or smoke and led a seemingly clean life got brain cancer at 46.

So I think, yes a lot of health and aging issues, boil down to your genetic programming.

fruit rots left on the tree .. it is meant to be eaten .. the tree does not die .. it continues to produce fruit

eating fish un makes u a vegetarian

do you know what they call milk with puss and blood from infected cow teets that are cut by mechanical milking machines? chocolate milk ... mmmmmmmmm

homoginization does kill the natural calcium in milk .. kale and collards have way more calcium than milk, even unhomoginized milk

if you are considering a change, you cant simply cut meat out of your diet .. you need to eat good nutritional food .. if ur diet is shit like candy, chips, most cereals, processed foods .. ur not gonna make it cuz that shit not only destroys yer imune system, it also has no nutrients, nutrients are what makes your body grow and work properly, everything else is poop, literally.

jesus was hung on the cross for objecting to eating animals .. there was no meat at the last supper .. jesus preached compassion for all animals ... if u eat animals u are not following the teachings of christ

christ was one of many who bestowed his higher intelligence and knowledge of the universe and how it functions for the good of the whole and the well being of the individual

gluttony is a deadly sin .. as in .. it will kill you

with the intelligence and opportunity we all have to choose to eat, not out of neccessity, but out of our own personal sense of morality .. the choice to support and feed an industry that consistantly abuses animals from birth till death .. because it tastes good to you ... is gluttony

the diseased animals due to poor living conditions are one of the sources of illness, as are the steroids that are pumped into these animals that people then consume.

nothing affects your body more than what you put into it .. it is very easy to know what is good for your body .. fruits, vegetables, clean water, clean air .. organic .. these are things that you can grow yourself .. they are free and cause no suffering. everything else it is safe to say that you would be better off researching thoroughly what is in it, from the chemicals to the process itself. it will likely change your mind and your cravings right then and there.

I have been a vegetarian a total of 22 years - a vegan for 10 years, a vegetarian for 12 years. I became a vegetarian for health reasons. I suffered from allergies and stomach/colon problems in my teens. I can say a healthier lifestyle does make a difference. I changed my diet in my early 20s and all my health issues stopped. I am very conscious about what I put in my body, including medication and over the counter drugs, I have used herbal formulas for 22 years.

I don't look my age at all. I don't drink alcohol that often but when I do order a drink or glass of wine, I am often asked for ID (I'm 45 yrs old).

My husband and my children are not vegetarians. My children were vegetarians until they chose not to be. I gave them that option. They couldn't wait to eat meat. But now that they have tasted both worlds, they have primarily gone back to a vegetarian diet. My husband eats a lot of meatless dishes and enjoys them more than eating meat.

It is a lifestyle change that some may have difficulty with, it is not easy. I could not imagine eating meat again, but that is my choice. I don't preach to anyone but I do inform people about living healthier.

I've been vegan for about 4 years now & never healthier. I don't eat much fake products, because fresh organic is good. I think soya cheeses have been designed to by the dairy industry to discourage people being vegan.

Plus - it's arguable, but I think it makes more ethical sense to eat meat but cut out the dairy (not a natural human food) as the diary industry is the meanest.

Oh, he has definitely tried some fake meat products. There´s an interview from the Emancipation era (or shortly after) where he is eating mock duck during the interview.

There's definitely an argument for that. One of the reasons I made the switch from vegetarian to vegan was because I couldn't reconcile my ethical issues with animal murder, with animal torture that happens in the dairy industry. The things I spoke about, regarding the cows being kept pregnant to increase the milk give and then being killed when it naturally lowers, etc.

Plus, the obvious health reasons. It makes no fucking sense at all to consume a fluid, or by-products of that fluid that is only designed to provide the specific nutrients for a whole other species. That's just common sense.

I stopped eating red meat in 1991 and I stopped eating chicken and turkey in 1997. Sometimes

people look at me like I'm crazy but when some people find out how old I really am they don't believe me. They want to see ID because they think I'm lying. So I guess that's one of the benefits...(I also hate seafood).

I tried to do the vegan thing but it's not for me. I love veggie pizza and leather coats too much.
