my mom is constantly asking me why do you love him so much. alot of ppl either love or hate him. idk maybe she broke her funky bone cause her first band she loved was sly and the family stone.i had her watch rave un2 the year 2000 for larry and lenny kravitz and she liked it except for morris day. mostly all she ever does is make fun of his high pitch screams impersonating them saying he's too skinny any tiny. we went to see fleetwood mac together. stevie nicks!!!

my dad my dad says he's a amazing rock star and brilliant guitar player. he's loved the song TRUST since batman was out. first thing on the phone today talking to him he asks SOOO DID HE PLAY 1999? trust?raspberry beret? little red corvette??? he actually cares to hear about how the show was and is interested in what i had to say. he loves bands such as bowie,the stones,beatles..he went to see pearl jam, u2 and guns n roses(but they didn't show up) with me

my mom on the other hand first thing says after the first show being u don't have a checking account i need all the $ you have left so i can write out your bills. so refused saying i need $ in case there is a aftershow and u can have it sunday and she smacks me upside the head. she's not like that so what the fuck was up with that??ok we scream and fight being typical jersey italians but never hit each other! i called her in2 the room to watch my video snippets and all she says is this is loud and the sound is all choppy! i'm getting a headache...a tourbook?? why would i wanna see pictures of him and look thru that????? ok so she doesn't like him but at least listen to me. it was my first time seeing him live and i adore prince and all she can muster is ??

i sent screengrabs to my aunt cyndi from mountains of wendy cause they look like twins. she asks me WHOSE THE GUY? HE LOOKS FAMILIAR?? she only lived thru the 80's in her 20's-30s??


look forward to talking about it on xmas. haven't seen my cousins in awhile but my cousin kerrie loves anything you can dance to with alot of rap and r&b.. according to her facebook and calls john legend her husband...my cousin keith is a great guitar player and will play along to hendrix.last time i know he also loved korn and godsmack... wanna know if he gives props to prince.
other side of the family of dads now most i haven't seen in over 15 yrs and live far far away or they passed away....

have a few casual fan friends that know some of his songs and like them. they asked how it was and what he played but no one's a super die hard purple hippie like me...

I am by far the biggest P fan in my family and among my friends. I have converted my husband into a Prince fan after taking him to 9 concerts! However, I would like to meet some Ohio area Prince fans so I hvae other ppl to go to concerts with.

Hi, I live in Ohio too (Cleveland suburbs). Where do you live?

Edited to say that I see in your profile that you live in Columbus (nice area). That's about 2 hours away from here. It's soooo hard to meet other Prince fans from the Cleveland area. I see tons of people at Prince concerts when he does a show here, but I don't know if many of them are on the org. They probably are; I just never thought to ask them.

A good friend of mine (who also lives in the Cleveland suburbs) and I have gone to Prince concerts. It's a lot of fun to have someone to hang out with who likes Prince. Most people I know either love him or hate him; there seems to be no inbetween.

my mom thinks he looks like a little latin liberace..??? her words. she's one of those ppl who was just there. she wasn't popular or a freak. i was a freak. still am. i was born a freak. i was a strange as a toddler. prince is just unique with his style and outfits and very shy so i can relate to that cause i'm certainly unique and the black sheep of the family.

i tend to like and admire other ppl who live by the beat of their own drums and be themselves. who cares what others say and think!

i had a blast hanging out with other prince fans. they get "it" too...

My eldest son tolerates him & likes some of his songs

My mother liked his songs

My musician uncle admires his guitar work

My father calls him Poonce (although he does like his cover of Crimson & Clover)

LOL I didn't tell him it was Prince i just played it & he said it was done really well

my reply was Yeah, not bad 4 a Poonce hey!!! My father is a massively massive Elvis fan

6 trips 2 Gracelands, & a collection that is 2 big! When he tells me that it will be all mine one day

I ask him does it come with a 6 bedroom house 2 display!! Honestly!

Went 2 his Diamonds & Pearls concert 1992, missed his 2003 concert!!! MY BAD!!!!

All on my own!!!!

So i'm on my own with my love of Prince! But i don't mind not sharing him!!!

Once this summer I was on the party where there were people that I had never seen before. And all of my close friends know that I'm a huge Prince fan and they know that he's not gay, but there was one girl among us who said that SHE knew better ANTYHING about Prince and she KNEW that he was gay. Prince was not even responsible for these behaviors! Then, she cried like a baby when Prince played 'Purple Rain' at the 1985 American Music Awards.

No. I've been to a concert with a former boyfriend in the eighties... that one.

No. My son is fourteen and prefers music from the '30's through the '50's which is fine. The difference is, I can and do appreciate music from other eras and refuse to limit myself. Jr. is stuck in a rut...He's my one and only, however, and I love him as he is. Maybe Santa will put some funk in his stocking this year.

Now that I think of it, it's a good thing she never caught me "masturbating with a magazine"!

I am the only hardcore fan in my family....but my family is cool with Prince. They totally indulge me in my love for Prince and joke with me all the time with stuff like "when is Prince joining the family? or You ain't married him yet?" My Christmas and birthday gifts are always Prince related, especially the last couple of years. I'm anxiously awaiting a gift now my bro sent me that he says I will LOVE. My mom likes a few songs...D & P, Prince album, Kiss, and my sis likes a couple songs..Cream, Gett Off, Lolita. So they would all go to his show if he came close to where they live and tickets weren't so expensive, I'm the only one who would travel to see Prince. And non of my old friends are Prince fans, but all of my new ones are!!! And my family and friends all listen to me talk about him and will conversate with me about him all the time!

I'm by far the biggest fan in the family, but I can't think of anyone in my family who doesn't have at least one Prince song they really like. Even my great uncle who will swear that Ray Charles is the only musical genius ever (how do you win that argument? lol) will poke fun at the androgyny but acknowledge his talent.

My older brothers didn't really share or pass it on to me, but they always made it clear 'that guy' was on a different level. They have a few of his albums, but mostly prefer his Time and pre-PR stuff.

Took my cousin to his first show during Musicology. He didn't deserve front row, but what can you do? lol

My friends & family thinks he's gay. Kinda hard 2 defend due 2 the way he use 2 dress & look back in the days. These days he's toned it down dramaticly. Black or white, straight or gay. I'm still a fan. My daughter was born 01-01-1999. IT MUST B A SIGN! 1999 is one of her favorite songs(For obvious reasons) thanks 2 me. YES! I turned my daughter n 2 a Prince fan.

I'm SO excited to "meet" another Ohioan on the org! Just yesterday I posted in the "Fan gatherings" forum asking who is from Ohio. There is only one response from a person just north of Dayton -- so now for sure there are 3 of us. I feel the same way you do -- there's always a ton of cool ppl who go to the Ohio P concerts, but it seems like they only come out when there is a concert. I would love to find more of us and maybe we can organize a happy hour somewhere between Cleveland / Columbus and all meet.

I am the biggest Prince fan in my family but my 68 year old mother likes him alot. She always liked him a little bit but all that changed when I took her and my father to 3121 to see him. She thought I was crazy for going to so many shows so I had to have her witness him in person. I got them the VIP package and they had the second table from the stage. They thought he was great, I know I have said this before but she even said he was better than Elvis. When I told her I was going to Vegas again the next month she said she wanted to go again. She didn't make it that time but I thought it was cool she wanted to go back. Maybe you should take your mother to a show purplemookiebut, that is a sure way to convert somebody.

Now I just have to get my brother to a show.

Most of my good friends are music lovers and they acknowledge his talents.
