At 2:49 in this song he plays a bit from purple rain. The same 3 chords. Same key too. Loving this album.

I usually don't post on threads I know are going to be super long since I'm obsessed with keeping my "My Org" cleared of posts, so I now will have to keep coming back to this to update that. But I just had to say how much I love this song!
Someone earlier said it's like a love song to God. It is something like that. I don't agree that it's "baby making music." While it is slow and has a sensual sound to it, it's also kind of ethereal, soft, flowing, gentle and peaceful. It's very pretty.
I adore his deeper, more natural voice singing this. If it was his falsetto, I might have overlooked it.
So for me, this is the stand out song and my favorite.

Simply beautiful! Sentiment & vocals are 2 die 4.
Sha-la-la-la-la...
When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Today's plan: get up, go out, buy Daily Mirror, take CD out of the paper, bin paper, wash hands with bleach, listen to CD...
...but I never got past Track 3. Absolutely love this song. A nice little composition, but stunningly produced and performed. I would have settled for just one 'keeper' on this CD, and this most certainly is one. I'll get to the rest of the album within the next week. But for now... woo-oo-ee-ooo sha la la la la.

Prince has always been fascinated with the future in his song titles, and here he carves out the Future Soul Song but does so in a way that rather than challenges the future it melds all the greatest elements of his past ballads and stirs them up in a fresh new offering.
One thing that jumps out is the double layering of his vocals, something that always adds an extra depth and seduction to the slow jams. Thankfully Prince stays this side of overblown and delivers a formidable ballad. "I'm not human I'm a dove, I'm ur conscience. I am love"

If this doesn't become a new concert staple, then I will hunt Prince down, and cut off his purple yoda.

I actually didn't like the song on the first listen ... but after hearing him perform it live yesterday night (during the aftershow in Brussels), it was AMAZING.
He had the 3 ladies at first instruct the crowd on how to sing the "Ooooh shalala future soul song" 3 times ... and then they played the song with the crowd each time singing this refrain ... unbelieveable ..
LOVE the song - and yes, a baby maker!

I'm hearing:
"I hear sighs (I hear sighs) I hear whispers (I hear whispers) But I don't care This is between me and my Lord You can go right on ahead and stare Cuz never was, never will there be any little shame in my tree You..you...guess what..."
The last line is kind of hard. I feel like it's not "came to me," because I'm hearing an extra syllable. Like it might be "came into me," or "get me to me." Can't quite put a finger on it.

Well if recent interviews are anything to go by this is Prince's personal favourite track from 20ten; and apparently a vault track at that.
Not my favourite of the ballads here but I would love to hear this live.

He said "guess what... happen to me".

It works VERY good live!
saw it last night in Brussels at the aftershow.. he played it

Or maybe, "you led me to me." Like he had lost himself?

Could be who knows? It makes sense either way...
When it comes to spiritual numbers like this, he's adding on to what Marvin, Al, Sam and the like had done so kudos for him continuing that spiritual/secular mixture, which makes soul music as great as it is.

The beauty of the song is absolutely incredible. For me, it feels so atmospheric like I'm in a peaceful place when I listen to this song. I can't help but smile while this song is playing because I'm so taken by it. This is one of Prince's best songs ever right here IMO. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

its his best ballad/love song/old school take whatever you wanna call it, its just top notch, i dont get the comparisons i have been hearing to Future Baby Mama, that song was to me, almost dreadful and immature, this is more of a grown man, showing the new kids in RB that im still the future, its a kick in the balls to the young ones "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
