No, you are right. It reminds me of old purple mixed with new production.

REAL soul.

Beautiful lower vocal register.

Nothing like 'Future Baby Mama.' I wonder if some people here appreciate soul music at all.

You know how passionate some can be in here. I know what you meant but I wouldn't compare this song with "Future Baby Mama" but I can see why you would though lol

There is a lot to appreciate in this one, from his lower-register vocals in the verses, to the unexpected "just-so" guitar in the middle.

Definately a high point of the album.

An enjoyable listen, can see how he'd like to make an audience participation type sing song of it in concert.

His interview with the newspaper said this is his favourite track and wants it to become a live staple soon as the fans learn the lyrics.

Timeless, vintage Prince. He nailed it big time with this. I prefer this to SHOE, lyrically and vocal delivery is dead on. This tune puts the Ushers of this world in their place

Layered Prince vocals! Oh my melting heart! Love this jam. The title is clearly a play on words, though. Like, your soul in the future, get it? It's cool, I can get down on this style of Prince spirituality. Another favorite on this album for me.

nod

This is, hands down, the most sensual gospel song Prince has ever done.

I did a deeper dive on it last night - and it's really about the peace and freedom you feel when you reach that ultimate moment of love, acceptance and submission to a power higher than yourself. It's about Prince finding that - it's why he can fly for the first time in his dreams - and fantasizing that the whole world has found it, too - when everyone is singing the same song.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It's cool to know that this is Prince and the Band's favorite track as well. Also interesting that this song was a demo he recorded "years ago." I wonder when...Emancipation era?

I was thinking the same thing..and when this comes along:

I hear a sigh

I hear a whisper

But I don't care

This is between me and my Lord

I just started smiling..It was just uplifting to hear for some reason.

What is your main problem?
To whom it may concern: I love you!
Humankind..be both.
