The beauty of the song is absolutely incredible. For me, it feels so atmospheric like I'm in a peaceful place when I listen to this song. I can't help but smile while this song is playing because I'm so taken by it. This is one of Prince's best songs ever right here IMO.

its his best ballad/love song/old school take whatever you wanna call it, its just top notch, i dont get the comparisons i have been hearing to Future Baby Mama, that song was to me, almost dreadful and immature, this is more of a grown man, showing the new kids in RB that im still the future, its a kick in the balls to the young ones

The only way the comparison to Future Baby Mama and Future Soul Song work is that the titles of both songs start with the word "Future". It ends there too and thank God. FBM isn't bad but the title messes it up for me from being a classic song. There is nothing embarrassing about FSS. This song is what I wish other Soul songs would sound like, where the music takes you to another place.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Future Love Song - or Future Soul Song? Is this another typo, a la Feel Good, Feel Better, Feel Wonderful...yikes!

Like the song so far, whatever it's called.

LOVE LOVE LOVE these lyrics. Kinda cheesy, kinda touching, kinda spiritual...TOTAL PRINCE.

Future Soul Song

I had a dream last night that I was flying for the first time.

And in the dream I could pilot my flight with the thoughts in my mind.

Since there wasn't any up or down

Everybody was all around

When we sang, we all sang together.

Oh what a beautiful sound.

Chorus: Ooh We Ooooh Ooooh, Sha la la la la

This the future soul song (repeat)

I had a dream last night that I was singing and the sound of my voice

seemed to come from every mountain top like it had no choice

And when my voice rose, so did the sun

And when the trees sang the harmony as one

Every living soul sang the most beautiful melody ever sung

Chorus

Before the war the only words and language said "let there be light."

Those that can see it are the ones who believe it and put up no fight.

And in the absence of fear and control,

Is the sound of the surrendering soul.

Louder than the dogmatic persecution.

I sing it like you got that right.

Chorus

[Edited 7/9/10 0:56am]

the sentense look's better, and the meaning of it makes more sense it's world not war.

what do U think about that?

I'm hearing:

"I hear sighs (I hear sighs)

I hear whispers (I hear whispers)

But I don't care

This is between me and my Lord

You can go right on ahead and stare

Cuz never was, never will there be

any little shame in my tree

You..you...guess what..."

The last line is kind of hard. I feel like it's not "came to me," because I'm hearing an extra syllable. Like it might be "came into me," or "get me to me." Can't quite put a finger on it.

yeah... You can go right on ahead and stare... thats IT.

I hear the Xtra syllable aswell. so I think the last line is came in2 me...

"I hear sighs (I hear sighs)

I hear whispers (I hear whispers)

But I don't care

This is between me and my Lord

You can go right on ahead and stare

Cuz never was, never will there be

any little shame in my tree

you..you...guess what...

Came in2 me

This song makes me think about a Disney-movie. I see cartoon fairy's and colibries flying around a sparkling waterfall in my mind when listening to it. It's beautiful, but in a fairytalish/childish kind of way. I can so tell in what place Prince is in this. He's a Master of putting emotions/feelings into music and this is pure fresh sparkling spirituality. Like a glass with sodawater. I like it but have to admit I prefer "Sea Of Everything" before any other ballad on this album. It's possible that I chose like this because I'm not english-speaking and probably listends more to the music than the lyrics... smile

Guess you can say; I want more "bone" to it... wink

I feel the same.

infact the whole album 20TEN is like a MuiscMovieFeritail by Walt Disney.

I can see this whole movie in my head.

A little Prince traveling though Europe... over the high mountails of Switzerland, piloting in a smal sesna-plain over the Phoo river (over Rio Di Danaro razz ) , down 2 Portual... serching 4 his soulmate with a soulsong that makes him compleat

please please please Prince, make a new movie.

I have to talk for a moment. I just finished listening to Future Soul Song at my desk at work and I got so caught up in the song, tears started to form in my eyes. That's NEVER happened to me with ANYONE'S new music, let alone Prince. I'm kinda freaked out about this because of how new this is for me, but I'm just in total astonishment over how freaking brilliant this song is. I'm just stunned right now and so damn happy I don't know what to do with myself! biggrin

I'd better get used to that if I were you! Wait till you here these gems played live.. Like Montreux, the first show, I allmost could not hold back my tears, a couple of them escaped my eyes, but DANG, what excellent vocals, guitar play and lyrics. I am a sucker for his ballads as well!

btw, i really digg you signature! Most people here simply can't be as simple as that smile

I would love to hear an extended version of this song. Probably greatest ballad since adore and PR. I think it needs a great guitar solo that would really pull it out.

Ok motherfuckers, I hope none of you think this song is as great as the Beautful Ones or Scandalous. Those songs are flawless classics, this song is great but borrows from other ballads. It's a top song--for this period of time!

It is better than something like Insatiable, which may be the most overrated P ballads of all time.

It aint as great as Extraordinary. Remember, it borrows from a catalogue of great ballads he can work with. He has it easier as a song writer. But, FOR THIS WEAK PERIOD OF PRINCE SONGWRITING, this is great.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Any ballad that Prince does from now until he stops making music will forever be compared to his greatest ballads. I think everyone compares any slow song he does to Adore, Scandalous & The Beautiful Ones. He's never going to escape those comparisons. I think this song stands alone and will develop into a classic of it own.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Certainly "Adore" is in a class of it's own just as "Purple Rain" is. I cannot imagine FSS being used in the same sentence as Adore and I haven't even heard the song...just going by what I've read as well as the lyrics. They song like totally different ballads.

Scandalous is crap compared to Adore. I cant really tell the different between Insatiable and Scandalous.

Also Beautiful Ones / Electric Intercourse / Future Soul Song are a different type of song compared to Adore/ Scandalous/ Insatiable. Not a good comparison.

You hit the nail on the head! This is a great description of this beautiful song!!

Agreed that the song is quite beautiful, but I'm amazed that noone mentioned Have A Heart. FSS totally lifts the entire verse melody from here. Even the intro lyrical theme of "I had a dream..." / "I heard the news..."

Just goes to show that Prince has been popping into ONA quite a bit in recent years, what with the rerelease of U're Gonna See Me and all. Good for you, Princey - that one's a lost gem.

Yes.. I can see people lining up to call "Better With Time" a greatest and parity to Adore.

that would be a fucking nightmare.
