nosajd said: I think its a clever way to distribute music, although, but when that issue is over how does one go about getting it? Its good as a one off deal, but then its not available in the long term, that's my only concern. Its a great way to make it widely available for a very short period of time. This the main reason why Im against this type of distribution. It will b hard 2 get the album (as a CD) in the future. Its hard enought 2 get his out of print albums. It will only make people download it 4 free even more. Welcome 2 The Dawn

Concert giveaways, newspaper tie-ins, Target distribution, and now magazine giveaways.
With each distribution gimmick, he just looks more and more desperate with each project.
Prince, it's not remarkable if your distribution is the most noteworthy part of your album.

All the negativity surrounding "20TEN" is amazing considering nobody has heard a single note from it yet.
Equally amazing is that all the "haters" are still going to getthemselves a copy of it.
When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Has it been officially confirmed that it's called 20Ten?

I like the newspaper/magazine distribution. Here's the track listing I've found...
All tracks produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince.

wiki says WB may release the project elsewhere

This is the actual tracklist so far (as posted several times at MoQuake and here):
1. Compassion If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Get themselves - will download the CD, buy the magazine or newspaper with the CD, will burn a copy from someone else, will purchase the CD if there is a store release.
Haters - the Prince is through..., I'm done with Prince..., Prince has lost it..., Prince mistreats his fans... Take your pick of any of the previously listed sets and you have your "hater". It won't stop them from copping the new CD though. Ideal way for him to make a packet. Takes a big payment up front and just walks away. There's no way of even telling how popular it was!

Besides the obvious meaning, I suppose it could be some kind of biblical reference as well (as in Chapter 20, verse 10).

That's a good thing? | |

I see that wikipedia doesn't count the didital albums in their count of "studio albums".

I'm not particularly excited about this album. Let's face it, the only reason why it's released with print media is because it's so bad that no reccord company wanted to touch it.
And with titles like "Act Of God" and "Everybody Loves Me, ME, ME" , I can understand why. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

I´m very skeptical about this album but both journalists who´ve heard the album are pretty much ecstatic about it and call it a huge improvement over the often mediocre albums of the past years. The German reporter says that Act of God is one of the best, if not THE best song on the album, and all in all it seems to sound like MPLSound but with a stronger connection to the old school Minneapolis sound, not that "new" Minneapolis Sound on MPLSound. Lots of LinnDrum beats, only one or two songs with a real drummer, etc.
I don´t have time to translate the track by track German review right now but I might do so later.

They're ecstatic about it because it's either released through their employers magazine/newspaper, or they got an interview with the guy (or both).
No one believed the glowing review PE got in the Daily Mail did they? (Did they?!)
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
No, it just more accurate: How are you going to call Slaughterhouse and Chocolate Invasion albums when they were just compilations he tossed together to sell to folks who weren't part of the NPGMC in year one?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Why is it that the confirmed "2nd disc" has what could realistically be legitimate song titles, and your mysterious "1st disc" is filled entirely of (one) songs we already know about and (two) exactly what one would come up with if they set out to make up "Prince-y" song titles?

I couldn't agree with you more with what you said. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
