is the album titel 20TEN confirmed already? I doubt that the titel will be 20TEN. The advertisement in the German rolling stone magazin says 'SOMETHING BIG 4 20TEN'. I'm not a native English speaker, but as I understand, either the Titel is 'SOMETHING BIG 4 20TEN' or it's something else and the ad only announces something big for 2010, I can't read out any CD Titel. What do you think?

Yeah, I had the same question too. I mean 2010 is 20TEN. No "official" title that I know of thus far.

I think it 's a very clever way to release new music.

The coverage of newspapers, especially global ones around the world dwarfs the reach of the music industry. We're talking millions and millions of readers. If Prince is able to keep making these deals with big news papers , he could easily reach people who didn't know he was still alive.

Strictly from the perspective of taking the music to the masses, it's a clever and (though I think it was done before Prince) way to distribute music to the masses. Whatever his profit margin is for something like this, the real success is just 'growing the franchise' or 'promoting the product line' so to speak.

HOWEVER, that shit better not be a lackluster, boring, album. Prince needs to wow people also. He'll convert a good number of people to fans if he does.

i think it's great he releases his music in ways no one else does, my only discomfort is his inadvertent support of the 'lets rape rainforests' industry (newspapers) versus the marginally (and growing) more environmentally friendly option of online release (as more people switch to solar-powered, green energy homes). i respect his innovative approach to music distribution, just not sure of his stance on environmental concerns, which might be relevant in light of songs like Mr Man, and his conscious awareness of the fragile biosphere of Planet Earth. in regards to the CD title and tracklist, will wait until the release before i consider either as confirmed.

Just awful. The guy is seemingly bereft of imagination. Teenagers in bus shelters tag them with juvenile crap like that.

20TEN.

Embarrassing. I guess time is no longer a trick.

That's just it, and I agree...I don't care much if the CD came in nothing but a plain brown envelope with nothing else AS LONG AS THE MUSIC IS GOOD. (well, I'd care in the sense of that not being much for protecting the CD from damage, but you get my drift)

wont matter if its a poor album or his best ever.....releasing it this way means it will be ignored by most people and will quickly fade from view....get yourself a record deal....get a single and video out and promote it properly then get the album in the shops ......then at least it might be noticed.....

What´s really embarassing is whining like this about a album title.

I hope he releases it through stores in the UK. A distribution deal, maybe through Warners.

The general public are not aware of music industry battles and do not comprehend the reason for giving CD's away. Most consider these 'freebies'. In some ways, it devalues the music.

Plus, after the giveaway with 'P.E' and the sold-out '21 Nights', the UK record-buying public (anyone thirty-plus that is) are very aware of him again. A retail album may capitalize on this success.

Also, I want a proper case.

I agree.

Prince has been successful in Europe again since the '07 '21 Nights' to Paris and the upcoming gigs. He needs to capitalize on this with a UK-based and/or Europe-based, distribution deal.

I guess you remember Edel? That seemed to do well for Prince in 1994.

That's what I was thinking. It really cheapens the thrill of it all. If there's no promotion for the music it will more than likely labeled as a bunch of crap and totally forgotten. I kind of hate that he's just all about the $ now. I miss the traditional way. On another note I'm happy my favorite entertainer is still alive and still doing his thing. However its released here in the US, I'm looking forward to the new cd.

Yes its all about the $ and I also miss the traditional way. I have the feeling that this album will be something simular 2 planet earth. I realy liked Lotusflow3r and tought that he was on the right direction with his music again and still hope he will continue in that way. But Im afraid of havin 2 high expectations on 20Ten. About the packaging, it will probably be cheap and no blocket.

I think its a clever way to distribute music, although, but when that issue is over how does one go about getting it? Its good as a one off deal, but then its not available in the long term, that's my only concern. Its a great way to make it widely available for a very short period of time.

The method of distribution worked in his favor before with 'Planet Earth'. It made him money and garnered press for the concept and in effect promoted the disc. Hopefully these deals are beneficial to both the magazines/newspapers and to Prince. I'd like to see him do more of these deals.

For everyone who thinks it's all about money for Prince...

Guess what the man needs to earn a living just like normal folks. Get off the soapbox and get real. I don't see any of you going into work on Monday and telling your boss to keep your paycheck.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Mind telling where this comes from?

With no "Hot Summer" in it while "Hot Summer" was sent to french radios as being "the 1st single from the september album" this tracklist can only mean 3 things:

1) This tracklist is another boring fake rolleyes

2) Prince changed his mind at the last minute (again)

3) There will be a magazine album in july ("20ten") and another one, with a usual release on some major wreck company, in september (unlikely but possible)
