Yeah, it looks like one of those creepy religious pamphlets with pictures of grinning conservatively dressed white people coming out of the grave hand in hand with equally happy "ethnics" in full national costume, whilst the rest of the Earth smoulders in ruin behind them.

(I read a lot of these, you can tell).

Where's the pic of a small child merrily stroking a tiger?

Heres the CD! Nice biggrin

I'm definitely an art snob and have mocked every post 80's Prince album cover except the WB compilation disks.

This one is cool. Much stronger compositional effort, much stronger color design. Whether you think it evokes watchtower or religious art is besides the point. Good art is good art.

This is good. Not my cup of tea but a tremendous improvement.

I also see that his T-shirt design was tightened up from the original artwork that was posted. It looks like someone employed the assistance of an art director.

I wonder who's the designer...

Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity

No rules on what time period you've been a fan. Besides, they might like something, just not everything, normal objective people are like that.

When i read it compared to another MplSound, i was thinking the exact same thing. But its still fun awaiting and getting the new Prince album.

With that notion further tainting my objectability, i still listen to each recording with an open mind. razz

I like the newspaper/magazine distribution. Here's the track listing I've found...

All tracks produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince.

  1. "Compassion" 4:18
  2. "Whereva U R" 5:38
  3. "Sticky" 4:45
  4. "Act of God" 5:21
  5. "Contradiction" 5:14
  6. "Sleeper" 3:33
  7. "Walk In Water" 5:07
  8. "Thunder" 4:58
  9. "Cryin' Shame" 4:04
  10. "20ten" 6:39

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20TEN

wiki says WB may release the project elsewhere

Somewhere I read a track listing for another CD. I am wondering if the CD that's going to be given away is the 2nd disc of what is going to be a 2 disc set?

I like how this album's review states the Linn drums are on there, and NO one has really mentioned it or more importantly, gotten excited about it.

Mainly because we saw what he did with MPLSound, and we were not amused. He just made made songs, then as an afterthought, but the Linn behind it, thinking we'd be dumb enough to think it's JUST like his music at the height of the REAL Minneapolis sound.

wont matter if its a poor album or his best ever.....releasing it this way means it will be ignored by most people and will quickly fade from view....get yourself a record deal....get a single and video out and promote it properly then get the album in the shops ......then at least it might be noticed.....

Album shops? What are these album shops you speak of?

Agreed. MPLSound sucked. LotusFlow3r is the waaay better of the two albums... mainly because it's good.

No.

In addition, this is not the first time a song with the title "Cryin' Shame" has made it into bunk tracklists.

HollywoodSt

I am yet another person who hasn't heard the album but why should I let that stop me from doing a review?!?

1. "Compassion"

Featuring guest vocals from 90's Euro pop sensations Army Of Lovers, this track features a huge swaying chorus of 'compassion, it's dead great, ooh, compassion, everyone's my mate"

2. "Endlessly Beginning"

A very clever track in which a five second intro loops for 6 minutes 42 seconds. Upon hearing, this may make you as demented as a squirrel.

3. "Future Soul Song"

The only way I can describe this is - imagine if Otis Redding and James Brown went down to a New York nightclub in the year 2047. The nightclub is staffed by robots. However, in a design flaw, the bar staff are actually robotic baboons. This means they are conducting acts of wickedness all around the bar area. Otis feels slightly queasy and asks to leave. James thinks it's not too bad and orders a Martini. This is the musical version of their taxi ride home later that night.

4. "Sticky Like Glue"

Now this will cause massive controversy. Prince laments the fact that glue sniffing, former drug of choice for idiots in the 80's has gone out of fashion. He says 'this is what we used to do, stick our head in a bag of glue' to the accompanient of Maceo Parker (baffingly on xylophone)

5. "Lavaux"

This record is 3 minutes 42 seconds long and Prince almost runs out of time. You see, even Prince doesn't know how to pronounce the title and argues with himself - "Lav-oh no that's not it, lavoix, hmmm". Roger De Courcey and trusted puppet Nookie Bear perform a stunning rap during this song.

6. "Act Of God"

This song lists the times where fans feel Prince has ripped them off. He giggles and sings 'Croke Park, Lotus Flower.com, read the disclaimer, act of god!' The track ends with Prince taking a bath in solid gold doubloons and cackling 'I am as rich as the queen'

7. "Walk In Sand"

An angry guitar sound supports Prince who is going ballistic at Bria's cat traipsing sand from the beach into the front room of their beach apartment. Choice lyrics include 'I don't like cats anyway, I'm getting that thing put down and why does it keep putting my doorag in its' litter tray and dropping whoopsie doopsies in my stacked heels?'

8. "Sea Of Everything"

Well this is a real dogs dinner of a track. Prince has assembled a cast of various UK 80's TV stars to bellow the chorus with him. There's Gary Wilmott, Les Dennis, Bernie Winters and Schnorbitz, Bernie Clifton, Rustie Lee, Lenny Bennett, Kendo Nagasaki, The Krankies, Russ Abbott, Bella Emberg and Windsor Davies. Epic.

9. "Everybody Loves Me"

The most ironic track Prince has ever released. It features contributions from everyone he has ever had a barney with including the double glazing salesman Prince got rid of by lieing to him and saying 'er sorry mate we only rent this place'. Sacked former band members drop in whispered anecdotes such as 'he is addicted to jaffa cakes' and 'he smells like dog wind'.

10. "Untitled Bonus Track"

A hi-NRG disco version of 'The Beautiful Ones' featuring samples from the advert to 'We buy any car.com'.

If it's as good as the reviews say... maybe it will be. Wait, the reviews are almost definitely full of shit because they're from publications that have something to gain from people thinking the album is great.

I wonder which album art Prince would have chosen if he released ATWIAD today... lol
