Concerns:

Cardboard slip-case

Shelf-life: Only 12 hours to get the new Prince album. After which, all options are pretty much closed.

In the UK, he has chosen a 'low-brow' newspaper for the giveaway. However, this paper has tended to be favourable toward Prince in the past.

Benefits:

It is free.

Circulation of 2.5 million.

I'm not tempted to join a website venture. lol

Prince's music gets bootlegged and downloaded for free so much anyway, he might as well give it away.

It is a new Prince Album. Easily available, during those 12 hours.

I loved MPLSound. Dance 4 Me, No More Candy 4 U, Ol Skool Company, Better With Time and Here are all excellent tracks.

I'd be very happy if "20Ten" is in the same vein.

Cool, I loved MPLSound too.... There will never be another like him. Ol Skool and Dance for me are spot on. Cant wait for 20ten, think i'll be getting several copies of the Mirror.... If it does indeed sound 3121ish then i know it's gonna be a gem, coz that's a fantastic album.

Be wild

MPLSOUND (full of autotune / bad sampling & polished Linn Drum) is not the real raw MINEAPOLIS SOUND with real Linn drum...take a listen 2 1999 or Purple rain & u will hear the difference...so i hope 4 a new album with real mnpls !!!

If it's as good as the reviews say... maybe it will be. Wait, the reviews are almost definitely full of shit because they're from publications that have something to gain from people thinking the album is great.

I never go by reviews..I just tune out everything for an hour so I can hear the whole album without interruption or pre judged thoughts as what a song is supposed to be..that's how I destroyed the last experience with mplsound.

I have learned to not look too much on here before an album comes out. I just want to know when its released, but then try to tune out all the reviews and over-analyzing. I love the org, but some people tend to get way too opinionated after one listen (and sometimes BEFORE they listen...based on song titles and "critic" reviews, which is just dumbfounding).

what's the title of the hidden track 10 ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20Ten

10. "20Ten" (hidden track)

or:

10. Untitled hidden track

Which of these 2 options is true?

Does the "20Ten" album include a title track, or not ???

(Ps.. I was told in an Orgnote to use this sticky for my Question, done.....)

See what I meant by comparing it to Lolita? Same catchy synth hook, similar sounds. This was one of the standout tracks for me along with Sticky Like Glue. This album is dope

Try this site: www.20ten.com ... it's not really on topic, but try and read the front page. In context of Prince .. this is hilarious.

I wonder what he thought when he checked that URL? lol

Also, I agree with PaisleyPark4, never pre-judge art of any kind. It's just way too subjective. There are people out there who are huge fans of every Prince album that I think is "off". Conversely, there are Prince fans who don't like anything from the 80's. I know, it's scary, but it's true! lol I might be past holding out hope for another perfect, masterpiece of a Prince album. But I usually find at least a couple songs that I honestly love on each of them, so I try to keep an open mind.

That's why Prince said the internet is dead. He looked 4 his next album's domain name and realized it was already taken and since he couldn't do his own 20ten.com he declared the internet dead. falloff

When his 2011 album gets out and has a .com namethat's still available, Prince will open a new websight lol

I like how this album's review states the Linn drums are on there, and NO one has really mentioned it or more importantly, gotten excited about it.

Mainly because we saw what he did with MPLSound, and we were not amused. He just made made songs, then as an afterthought, but the Linn behind it, thinking we'd be dumb enough to think it's JUST like his music at the height of the REAL Minneapolis sound.

Who is this "we" you are talking about ? You and your mother ?

The "we" are the ones smart enough to know MPLSound was nowhere near the classic REAL Minneapolis sound, or even an "update" of it. Just add Linn and water and stir.

There are a lot of fans here who feel the same way. Google it from last year when the album came out. That's the "we".

Well, I've been a fan for damn near 30 years now! And I can tell you I'm not part of hat "we" you refer to. I enjoyed "MPLSound" myself...

In regards to the Linn discussion, I could be wrong, but from what I heard, the Linn on this album is the same software-based sounds as on MPLSOUND.

I'm not really sure he would be able to hook up an actual Linn to his pro-tools setup without having to change the way he's been recording his music. But, I guess some would argue that's the problem.

So Jake...what's your fave P release of 2000s and based on what limited amount you've heard 20Ten where does it fall with those releases?

I haven't heard it yet and have no reason to judge whether anybody else has or not. But I will say this...

First, Prince himself has mentioned that he can never satisfy all his fans. Don't use the Linn Drum, people are pissed. Use the Linn Drum and people are pissed about the way it's being used. lol Personally, I thought he did some interesting things with it on MPLSound. But I think the results had more to do with modern digital recording techniques and the use or ProTools than anything else. It will never sound the way it did in the early eighties unless he finds and uses all the equipment that was used to record, mix and master it back then.

Second, I hate Lolita. lol One of my least favorite Prince songs of the aughts. Terrible topic for a song with weak musical execution. I doubt I'll ever listen to it again. But hey, to each their own. That's why it's cool dude has hundreds of songs to choose from.
