I think its a clever way to distribute music, although, but when that issue is over how does one go about getting it? Its good as a one off deal, but then its not available in the long term, that's my only concern. Its a great way to make it widely available for a very short period of time.

This the main reason why Im against this type of distribution. It will b hard 2 get the album (as a CD) in the future. Its hard enought 2 get his out of print albums. It will only make people download it 4 free even more.

Concert giveaways, newspaper tie-ins, Target distribution, and now magazine giveaways.

With each distribution gimmick, he just looks more and more desperate with each project.

Prince, it's not remarkable if your distribution is the most noteworthy part of your album.

All the negativity surrounding "20TEN" is amazing considering nobody has heard a single note from it yet.

Equally amazing is that all the "haters" are still going to getthemselves a copy of it.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Get themselves - will download the CD, buy the magazine or newspaper with the CD, will burn a copy from someone else, will purchase the CD if there is a store release.

Haters - the Prince is through..., I'm done with Prince..., Prince has lost it..., Prince mistreats his fans... Take your pick of any of the previously listed sets and you have your "hater". It won't stop them from copping the new CD though.

Ideal way for him to make a packet.

Takes a big payment up front and just walks away.

There's no way of even telling how popular it was!

Yes, the actual album title has been confirmed as "20TEN".

Just awful. The guy is seemingly bereft of imagination. Teenagers in bus shelters tag them with juvenile crap like that.

20TEN.

Embarrassing. I guess time is no longer a trick.

Besides the obvious meaning, I suppose it could be some kind of biblical reference as well (as in Chapter 20, verse 10).

With the album being released through RollingStone Magazine (Germany), Belgian newspaper (Het Nieuwblad), Portuguese music magazine BLITZ; and whatever magazine/newspaper that comes next....

Discuss your opinions here on this sticky. This will prevent a mass flood of the forum. Threads will be lock and redirected to this sticky.

My crystal ball tells me that Prince is receiving worthy business advice how to distribute his upcoming music for years to come. Magazines/Newspapers fronting $$$...major label in the mix....buzz being generated thru mags and BET......it all sums up to me that Prince has come to a realization that he has about 10 more years to maximize his $$$..after all if you were a baby boomer when he hit the scene most of those folks will be in their sixties ten years from now..meeting with WARNER BROS is a tell tale sign as Prince enters the decade with solidfying his legacy with the release of past, present, and futurebabymama purple music thru major labels as well as independent channels.

My twinz sister RUBYSKYE says look to the skye to turn red and you will see purple,.

I'm not particularly excited about this album. Let's face it, the only reason why it's released with print media is because it's so bad that no reccord company wanted to touch it. razz

And with titles like "Act Of God" feeling ill and "Everybody Loves Me, ME, ME" barf , I can understand why. neutral

I´m very skeptical about this album but both journalists who´ve heard the album are pretty much ecstatic about it and call it a huge improvement over the often mediocre albums of the past years.

The German reporter says that Act of God is one of the best, if not THE best song on the album, and all in all it seems to sound like MPLSound but with a stronger connection to the old school Minneapolis sound, not that "new" Minneapolis Sound on MPLSound.

Lots of LinnDrum beats, only one or two songs with a real drummer, etc.

I don´t have time to translate the track by track German review right now but I might do so later.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

They're ecstatic about it because it's either released through their employers magazine/newspaper, or they got an interview with the guy (or both).

No one believed the glowing review PE got in the Daily Mail did they? (Did they?!) lol

No, it just more accurate: How are you going to call Slaughterhouse and Chocolate Invasion albums when they were just compilations he tossed together to sell to folks who weren't part of the NPGMC in year one?

Why is it that the confirmed "2nd disc" has what could realistically be legitimate song titles, and your mysterious "1st disc" is filled entirely of (one) songs we already know about and (two) exactly what one would come up with if they set out to make up "Prince-y" song titles?

I think it 's a very clever way to release new music.

The coverage of newspapers, especially global ones around the world dwarfs the reach of the music industry. We're talking millions and millions of readers. If Prince is able to keep making these deals with big news papers , he could easily reach people who didn't know he was still alive.

Strictly from the perspective of taking the music to the masses, it's a clever and (though I think it was done before Prince) way to distribute music to the masses. Whatever his profit margin is for something like this, the real success is just 'growing the franchise' or 'promoting the product line' so to speak.

HOWEVER, that shit better not be a lackluster, boring, album. Prince needs to wow people also. He'll convert a good number of people to fans if he does.

I couldn't agree with you more with what you said.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
