Oh damn...well you had me then. Prince is weird enough to say something like that though. LOL See you had me getting all rawled up. Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

NYC'ers, the magazine is on (some) newstands in Manhattan. I spotted it at the newstand in the 14th Street station (on the 1, 2, and 3 line), then at the newstand on the NW corner of 14th & 6th. Both times I didn't have any cash on me! Hoping to pick it up after work. [Edited 6/8/10 13:57pm]

I have noticed my eyesight getting worse lately, but I chalked it up to old age. I guess I now have some serious lifestyle choices to think about now. Dammit. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Ok, after seeing the mag several places, I finally copped it after work. The interview is nothing newsworthy, but I'm glad I was able to read about the black coal miner's wife (from the W. VA mine explosion - the story follows the Prince piece), even if it was in Ebony (I read it maybe once every decade).

Your post reminds me of Zoolander. Black coal miner. Are there any other type?
Joke people.

This interview is good for people who are interested in
his religious believes. It's hard get out some news of it.
It is already strange enough he didn't say something about his love life
which was so praised on the ebony site.
Just a strategy to sell more magazines. It was hype about nothing.
Ebony Exclusive: PRINCE Talks Religion, His Love Life & Much More Never-before-seen photos and the musical genius in his own words are featured Prince talks about Religion : YEEEES! His love Life: NO (self-interest is on the back burner for now? What does THAT mean?) Never-before-seen photos: YES but Own words: like always. Pussyfoot around
In spite of it all it's cool to read interviews when it comes to Prince.
It's always more or less interesting what he got to say. So, thanks Prince [Edited 6/9/10 23:59pm] [Edited 6/10/10 0:16am] Dancing helps relieve the pain. Soothes your mind, makes you happy again!!!

The mods have pointed out very clearly that the article cannot be reposted here to to copyright infringement issues; this site is already watched close enough as it is without asking for that kinda trouble
You should be able to find Ebony at any news stand or bookstore that sells international newspapers or magazines. Try google-ing for some place in your area that specializes in that

Barnes & Noble doesn't carry the good stuff, so I had to get the basic smut - nothing freaky. There was a College Girls special that caught my eye. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

This has got to be one of the worst "interviews" or sit downs with him I have ever read. It was one huge ball licking contest, all played by the journalists.
They basically let him talk about whatever the hell he wanted to, which was God and what his name is, and anything else for these "trying time we're in." Music was one of the last things on these people's minds. After Prince (on drums, no less!!), Larry, and some singers performed a little bit for them and they were about to go. The one lady wondered to herself when that music they just heard would be released. "Only time (and Prince) will tell." Why not ASK HIM while yo' ass was talking to him??
He played them a song called "Stand Up and B Strong", which was an anthem to tell people to hold on (parahrasing) in these bad times. Sounds like straight booty, but whatever.
The only other "fun" tidbit the entire piece had was him saying in a weird-ass, quasi-Q & A that his first influence was Ike Turner on the guitar, and that it would be fun to play Little Richard in a movie. Tongue firmly planted in cheek, I'm sure.
I've been disappointed for years now in Ebony, so I didn't expect much at all out of this. And guess what? I got it! Even less, now that I think about it. But hey, I'm sure someone will say it was the greatest conversation devoted to print, period. Let me spray my new "Fam-Away" now to avoid gettin' bitten by 'em!

Someone in Manhattan said they picked it up already but I pass through Grand Central daily and Hudson News still has the Nicey Nash one out.
I keep checking.
I wonder where they got theirs from. Because of their half-baked mistakes, we get ice cream, no cake; all lies, no truth; is it fair to Kill the YOUTH ~~ Party Up

I can't believe you can't find it in Manhattan;go up near the upper east side, between 55th and 70th streets, anywhere between Lexington Avenue down betwee 1st - 3rd avenues-right on the avenues. There's quite a few candy/magazine stores that have the July issue there. Those are the type stores you will mostly find magazines in. Also, check to see if Duane Reade's received their issues yet, because they do carry Ebony magazine. It just depends on when these vendors receive their delivery, and it should be in most of them by the end of this week. I found that out they all usually receive their following month's issue, one month prior during the second week of that month. I found this out when I was looking for the June issue.

I think we must have read a different mag.. I'm sorry but I couldn't make it thru the first couples of lines.. yes indeed Prince at what he does best "avoiding straight questions and answers"
Of course the earth is changing, thanks to BP, hurricanes, earthquakes.. Of course we should find the truth within, what else is there to do when 80 percent of the planet is living paycheck to paycheck trying to feed their children and pay their bills, wait.. Yup people do call god different names, hey wait what if we started calling "LIFE" a different name???
just kidding huh huh

I have always thought Ebony was a magazine for Negros and Colored Folks, and not for African Americans. That magazine is so retro, and behind the times in regards to contemporary journalism and interviewing tactics, that I'm pretty sure that the majority of their subscribers are in the 50 and older group. So what you alleged the interview to be like does not surprise me at all.
As far as Prince is concerned, I think people need to finally accept the new Prince. He will likely get stronger and more determined in his faith. And that is a GOOD THING. There is more to life than what is on this earth. People need to recognize that we at some point must prepare for as Prince calls it "The Afterworld". He is doing just that, the best way that he knows how. Vanity is doing the same thing - only with a different denomination, and Sheila E is also born again. Folks can't dance and shake their booty forever...all of this will eventually come to an end. So I do support Prince in his efforts to adhere to his Faith, and his understanding that he is now a vessel that can be used by God. Before he really wasn't. God gave him his talent and he used it to talk about women masturbating to magazines, and all sorts of sexually heightened themes and songs, so it's past time for him to give his talent back to God. i actually appreciate what he's Trying to do. Nobody is perfect. Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?
