I take it one can paraphrase the article:

Prince suggests God should be referred to, as the same name, in order to know him.

I have a problem with all the billions on planet Earth, who don't speak the same language.

Prince likes mirrors too... eg: god-dog

maybe this video is a language everyone can understand.

"a rose by any other name would smell as sweet" - shakespeare.

I love that Dog God does come under one name but people had their believes and i found out if you start messing with people beliefs you are missing with God. Because Jesus die on the cross so everyone can make their choices. God is nothing to play with... You are taking a god role (not saying Prince because you all will leach me)

All out of context i was saying religion is a touchy subject and because jesus die for us (some people believe this not judging) I 'm not saying you are taking gods role but you would think that because i was posted under your video sorry and the thing afterward. I'm sorry you took it the wrong way.

I was looking at the Dog when i posted that not( referring to anyone)

There is a possibility, according to Prince, to using one's imagination, he included those Ebony staff present who were sitting at the time .....to know God in the same way. I'd like to see the exact way, in writing. Kinda like his interview.

Prince suggested there's a white monopoly of ownership of Black music, which should be abolished.

I think he should have spent time working for Berry Gordy. Now THERE'S a contract that needed to be renegotiated!

Not to mention, (21st century), look at all the rap artists who produce, own labels, clothing lines, products, who are multi-millionaires ten times over! But that would require good management, taking advice from others, working together etc. Foreign concepts.

I feel all warm and fuzzy inside, knowing Ike Turner was an early influence on Prince, musically.

I just have visions of the wife beating.

Which draws me to the conclusion, it's best to appreciate an artist, without the personal screwball aspects.

When I read it in the interview I thought Prince came off as unenlightened, ungodly, and naïve. Someone's post about it inspired me to start my first thread to show how silly calling God by one name sounds. Come on Prince. Check out http://prince.org/msg/100/338125

Indeed, godswill.

So much for the psycho-babble with other posts, that aren't readable.

On a different topic, years ago, I was out to dinner downtown, in the village I live, minding my own business, getting into the car with the hubby and approached by a group of people who loved Jesus. They were once on drugs and found Jesus and wanted to convert me to their state of mind.

GUESS WHAT? I was never on drugs! I'm not substituting one addiction for another! (not saying Prince) Attended Mass six days a week in Latin. Now, GET LOST.

I refrained from the announcement...."You'd Be Better Off On Drugs", at this rate.

Most of the time when you read negative comments some people take that with them.

I think Prince talking about 1 God and it is but he does have many names cause their are many

religions and cultures and they called God another name but he still is God under 1..

I'm gettting a headache from the grammar. The message would be clearer if you'd clean that up.

Elsewise, there's a presumption, that whatever existing religious beliefs one has, sometimes it's not up to standards, of someone else. Atheists must suffer the most.

There will be more "Universal Love" as soon as people stop getting preached to, particularily in a magazine article.

Thank You, thank you Jehova that I saved my money and read the not-so-interview with Prince. What a fucking waste of time. The "interview" was the usual crazy blather. We got one new title, but probably the song will suck, so who cares, and now we know that Larry almost has Prince by the balls.

No wonder Prince can't make great music, when he has to knock on doors all the time. The guy didn't pay his taxes probably because Larry told him that it would go to the Matrix.

His vegan ass needs some steak and potatoes. Skinny ass mofo. Thanks for the waste of Ebony's time.

I don't buy the "power to the people" vibe either. The guy has done little to promote racial justice, beyond flapping his doodler.

I feel sorry for the people that bought the mag. Ask P for the money back.

Yes, I am sure all of the people that purchased the mag will be so bad off without their 3.00 dollars.

Look no one put a gun to anyones head and made them buy the mag so just fucking relax. You know dude is a vegan and you know he is a JW so why bother to read it at all much less get upset over it.

You come off as being as spacy as P when you and all the other ranting orgers go off on someone religion and dinning choices.

I just finished reading Ebony thought it was nice the part about calling God one name may be said in a term from Moses when he was sent to tell Pharaho to let my people go and he asked who will I say sent me and God said I am but what part about it all was this why was the interview given now Ebony said it was them exploring diffrent aspects of power so he was who they wanted regaurdless what he talked about when you pick a person they listen to what is on your mind and that is what he gave now to me I think he will venture off in another direction in years to come spreading the word in a diffrent way not just going to a weekly meeting and being a student as it is said but a position given him years ago to be a entertainer and pull a crowd will some day have him speaking to a crowd a new generation of people here in Atl. we have a church very big on fridays the parking lot is full with more young people than the older crowd instead of party night it is shout night just because a few don't undersatnd trying to get to know God don't mean that it is a wrong thing someone who thinks he has changed because of his faith think for a while how he really feels being Prince with years of people looking and thinking of him a certain way being at the bible study it may be harder on him than we think any way good story great pictures I am can be found in Exodus

Who's nuttier than a fruitcake here?

Crazy ole Prince living out his life how he chooses, or the douchebag fans who follow every move he makes, and then bitch and moan about everything he does on a daily basis on a messageboard dedicated to him?

Wow, what a bunch of loons.

I didn't waste $ purchasing a magazine, I wouldn't normally purchase. I'm sure Ebony has one of it's best sales ever, for the month, with Prince on the cover.

Unfortunately, the less I know about the guy, the better off I am.

He's intolerant of other religions. To paraphrase: the world will be a different place when we know God in the same way. He needs to explain how this can come about. What does he suggest? He poses a problem, with no solution. And NO, we're not all going to convert to JW.

He's still living in the 80's, regarding his old record company. Get over it! Christ, it's going on 30 years. Continue to blame "white ownership of black music".

To paraphrase other statements,

We need to approach local music distribution, (thus, the MPLS retreat) globalization is coming fast, and the gatekeepers need to free art and stop thinking of black culture, in terms of being monochromatic........

Prince comes off as racist, in this article. He doesn't like Caucasions.

I'm happy to have spent the dinero on the mag, finding out how he really thinks.

And nope! Not spending a nickle on any future music.

Good maybe someone can convince U not to come here anymore to. U sound more racist then U think Prince is. I'm sure U just one of the many ones on here that hate that Prince did a cover shoot & interview for EBONY MAGAZINE. That is all your racist hater statement implied to me.

Yes Prince is black to and has a right to defend anything his race goes through.YOU HATER!

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

I have no problem with Prince doing a controlled interview with any magazine.

Unfortunately, I'm belatedly realizing, how he thinks about others. Particularily, white folks.

I wish him Good Luck. He's going to need it, considering the interview.

No problem not being here. Haven't been for a while.

Reminds me of why not.

Here's a tip: Punctuation is our friend.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Oh, and why Prince felt the need to have his boyfriends around for the interview I'll never know. Tavis "showed up" for dinner, and of course Larry and Tina just happened to be there too for their 4-course veggie din-din. It's funny. He says because of all the religion (or spirituality, I guess) he's been able to relax more around people, yet he continues to build walls himself and make himself sound even more aloof than ever. It used to be cool back in the day (and some would even argue that) because...well, his music actually said something and was slammin'! Now, he just sounds like a ranting old man on the corner with a "The End Is Near" sign.

lol lol lol

I just finished reading Ebony. I thought it was nice, particularily, the part about calling God one name. This may be said, by Moses, when he was sent to tell Pharaoh "let my people go" He asked, "who will I say sent me"? God said "I did.

Why was the interview given? Ebony said, it was exploring different aspects of power. He/Prince/god was who they wanted. What he talked about, is what he gave. To me, I think he will venture off in another direction, spreading the word, and pull a crowd.

We have a church. Very big on Fridays. The parking lot is full, with more young people than the older crowd. Instead of "party night", it is "shout night". A few don't undersatnd trying to get to know God. This doesn't mean that it is a wrong thing. Someone who thinks they have changed, because of faith, need to think for a while. How it really feels being "Prince". With years of people looking and thinking a certain way, the bible study may be harder on him than we think. Anyway, good story, great pictures. I can be found in Exodus

I have always thought Ebony was a magazine for Negros and Colored Folks, and not for African Americans. That magazine is so retro, and behind the times in regards to contemporary journalism and interviewing tactics, that I'm pretty sure that the majority of their subscribers are in the 50 and older group. So what you alleged the interview to be like does not surprise me at all.

As far as Prince is concerned, I think people need to finally accept the new Prince. He will likely get stronger and more determined in his faith. And that is a GOOD THING. There is more to life than what is on this earth. People need to recognize that we at some point must prepare for as Prince calls it "The Afterworld". He is doing just that, the best way that he knows how. Vanity is doing the same thing - only with a different denomination, and Sheila E is also born again. Folks can't dance and shake their booty forever...all of this will eventually come to an end. So I do support Prince in his efforts to adhere to his Faith, and his understanding that he is now a vessel that can be used by God. Before he really wasn't. God gave him his talent and he used it to talk about women masturbating to magazines, and all sorts of sexually heightened themes and songs, so it's past time for him to give his talent back to God. i actually appreciate what he's Trying to do. Nobody is perfect.

They should have asked some Hardcore questions. Like why was your religion wrong about 1914? Why do most Christains call your religion a Cult? Why don't you worship with other Christains? Why you all don't believe in blood transfusions or celebrate Birthdays? Why do you all not believe in the Trinity? Is Christ the Archangel Michael?
