Serena

I LOVE the pic with the guitar, it's fun and quirky, which I like. I don't know why it's on that god awful purple background though, it's not that way in the magazine.

I am a magazine freak and have been for years. Due to the fact that there are more and more people of color in my life I have become increasingly aware of how few non-whites get covers. Even if they are featured inside, the real hope for their PR staff is that they get the cover. Getting the cover is huge publicity and when Zoe Saldana was the star of the biggest movie ever she was on the cover of "Nylon", Essence, and one of the fitness magazines. And Oh yeah, my Glamour had her on the cover sandwiched between two other covers featuring white actresses. Soooo my point is a Prince exclusive interview (no matter how lame) is going to get sales and I think he is making a statement by giving those sales to Ebony just as he did when he gave the only sit down interview in 2009 to Tavis. I think he is saying " I am going to exclusively support my own (black) press until I see people of color getting the same treatment as whites in the main press.

how about somebody actually giving us a gist of content-anything new-anything at all?????????

instead of this...

rubbish:-o

No NOTHING new. Talks about his religion mostly.

Soooo what does he say about his religion this time? Given that his beliefs have effected his actions in the past it might be interesting to hear about it. I for one would love to hear what the only male ear-cuff wearing JW has to say. I guess sooner or later the Niecy Nash Ebony mags will be removed in my area and I will buy a bunch of Prince mags.

He seems to be extremely obsessed with his religion, it kinda scares me.

It looks like the whole interview is about JW and how he would like to see

the world changing.

It's really nothing new or unexpected.

I tell you I am shocked that he is not disfellowshipped. I studied with the JW's for over a year and when I mentioned his name they became VERY uncomfortable and did not have possitive things to say about Brother Nelson and his showy ways.

100% true. But when the song comes out your not suppose to read into the lines anything sexual. Back and forth on a rocking horse whistling elixer, round and round, elixer , up and down, cool Nope nothing suggesting sexual activity there.

He advised that he actually watched Tavis' "Covenant of Black America" (or whatever it's being called these days) which included Cornell West, and Dick Gregory and other great speakers. I so agree. The Jehovah's Witnesses use disfellowshipping as a method of control. I am also shocked. Because although he has not really made any totally "obscene" records since he's been JW, he has made some songs with sexual undertones ie. Lolita (If you were mine...we'd bump bump bump).

Remember, the Jehovah Witnesses made Michael Jackson yank the video Thriller. And he actually did pull it shortly after it came out for a very short time. I think that's when Katherine and Joe started thinking differently and looking as the big picture, and the next thing you know- Thiller was reinstated.

Ok, but if the topic is the magazine about Prince and Prince talks about Prince's religion, is it not still talking about Prince if we discuss how very unusual his practice of his faith is for a Witness? I mean I don't want to discuss if the Witnesses do indeed have the "truth". What I am trying to say is that they are strictly against x,y, and z and quickly disfellowship members for looking like they partake in x,y,and z and yet this guy doesn't only talk about honey he sings about it, and asks his congregation to bow their head and thank the lord, with a big old Hallelujah to boot.

I want to know, is he still doing "field service" and is it still in a limo? If you are as familiar with the Jw's as I am you KNOW they insist on not being showy and bringing attention to yourself Anybody that has read any of the Watchtower Studies has to truly be curious as to what Prince thinks about "refraining from sexual thoughts and entertainment" and other stuff that is talked about many a meeting.

They most likely would have "disfellowshipped" Michael for that too if he hadn't re-released Thriller with that disclaimer at the beginning. Considering he had been raised JW, he took their complaints very seriously, which is why to rectify the situation he had no problem acknowledging their public issue (I think "elders" or whoever started writing negatively about Michael in that Watchtower magzine after Thriller came out) and respecting the faith by including that message in the video. Their "threats of disfellowship" because of his performances stopped in the future though, when he finally became fed up and left on his own.

So you're right. Seems pretty inconsistent, but maybe they are more lenient nowadays for some reason.

Michael could never have been disfellowshipped because he never became baptized. Only the one daughter, out of all Kathryn's children, became a BAPTIZED member. That is why Kathryn can be on speaking terms with all her kids even after they marry non-witnesses and do a whole bunch of other things. Had they been baptized it would be a WHOLE different story.

How does he when a person has right to say no?

How does he feels when Black Latino M/F have no rights under the workforce?

How does he feel when you have group of people that wil not give you equal rights?

You mean Rebbie? Wait, her husband was a JW when they married? Unless I'm forgetting, I've never heard that before.

And while I am not certain about who was baptized or not, (even though I think I've heard somewhere that all of the children actually were baptized before becoming famous), I have read that Mrs. Jackson did not follow JW rules/ordinances as explicity as most assume. She's accepted gifts from people, filed for divorce a few times, and continued speaking/visiting with Michael after he ceased being a JW. So, even if all of the children actually were baptized as JWs, she still would speak with them regardless of any circumstance. I don't see what that has to do with Michael though.

Also, why would the JW's personally publicize their problems with Michael and Thriller and threaten to cast him out if they couldn't "disfellowship" him from their church/organization if he didn't concede? I don't understand that.

I want Prince to be with anybody (and he knows this) purplerain if i see one more thread. (i can't even comprehend the words.) This is so crazy because i was going over some of the thread and i through i made it clear.

But maybe you all are not get it. I though Prince said that his American Audience did not respect

his values at one time. And the he like his European audience better because their respect his values oh maybe that just apply to Prince. Prince was talking about bulling which kids and adults do alike people get this kind of treatment http://sandeelee.blogs.co...lies_.html but Prince said and i quote: he went inside himself Why i brought up this is because at this website some people have great political views and sometimes doesn't "see the picture".

I want to know if Prince would ever be an activist look out for people rights

Because if you can sing the music you show can talk to talk.

I will feel free to post any Statement that is dealing with any political topic.( I wish i was grouppie

now or someone that really want some of the music industry.) You know !!!!!
