Well since about 75% of this thread has morphed into a dicussion about race and why Prince decided to give an interview to Ebony Magazine (a black magazine), then perhaps the entire thread should be moved to P&R then. It's kind of late in the game to just tell people to stop talking about it, and addressing previous posts.
Well, there has been a thread started in the P&R section of the Org, regarding Ebony. Apparaently a spin-off from statements and inquiries here from some orgers who questioned the magazine's name and those who are unaware of the history/purpose of the magazine, which focuses/highlights teg accomplishments/achievements/lifestyles/cultures of various ethnic groups within the black community, as well as, discussions on relationships/family life/social/economic/political views of the black community within American society and those living outside of it, as a whole. The thread has been started by orger "Threadbare". For those who want to participate in that discussion, here's the link in the P&R forum.

No one even reads Ebony magazine. Why would he do an interview with them? Give The Undertaker CD to Spin instead. Recorded in 1993, it's still a masterpiece and not fruity. |

That's BS. plenty of people read Ebony. Question is, why can't he do an interview with Ebony and why do some folks here seem to have a problem with that?
If you read the article he definitely has interests and concerns regarding Blacks within this society as a whole, and not just in the U.S. He includes himself, as part of the Black American population when he expresses himself, and has made some very, interesting comments regarding Blacks as a whole, and their contributions to this society and the world in general. It is very apparent, in reading the interview, that Prince does not allow anyone to control the way he lives his life, his religious beliefs, his views on this society or the world in general. Read the interview and judge it for yourself.
I certainly appreciate his views on black musicians/artists and the music industry, and his mentioning that society, not just in the U.S, but around the globe, needs to understand that blacks come in all shades, and not just one "hue", so-to-speak. It was a very interesting interview to say the least, but you have to get the mag yourself to read the details. [Edited 6/8/10 12:31pm] |

Now I'm hoping I don't get into trouble for this but I believe the interview covers Prince's new attitude to life now he is in his fifties -
showing his OUTRAGE at UK chocolate makers Cadburys selling to new owners - "They have sold their souls, they better not be messing with my Dairy Milk or Lord help them, my Twirl. They would see an angry Prince"
REVEALING he already has a new web presence but that he isn't going to reveal the address to fans, media or even the web developers which may lead to difficulties
ANNOUNCING he has recorded a new double album including a vault duet previously recorded with Michael Jackson - "I have played the album to my close friends and even my critics and they say it is by far, the best thing I have ever done. Naturally, I won't be releasing it, it's back to the vaults. You cannot hear it, you wouldn't enjoy it on as many levels as me. In fact, I will have it on my iPod none stop, you've got Purple and Gold, what more do you want?"
that his new album that will see the light of day whilst bound to be panned by so-called fans will be RELEASED free with boxes of Corn Flakes. "Cereal is the new media. I look at corn flakes and see funk." The CD will be in a little plastic bag alongside a toy of poor quality.

When in the month does Ebony usually hit the stores? Some mags don't hit until the last week of the previous month. I fear if you keep checking every day you may end up blowing a whole lot of cash on porn mags . Here in central Massachusetts we still have Niecey Nash and I would love to know the usual time that Ebony hits the racks so I don't keep rushing to the rack every day like a fool. It is that attitude that made me stay away from Prince for damned near a decade. I mean there are OTHER artists to listen to, he is not the gatekeeper of talent. He knew that his statement would be a tease. He knows that folks are fiending to hear something of the magnitude of him doing a duet with Michael Jackson. Why even tease the audience? Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that? |

The following month's issues are usually delivered to vendors, who order it, the second week of the prior month. You should check by the end of the week to see if your vendors received it yet. If not, then it really should be there by the end of the 3rd week. |
