Maybe you have a reading comprehension problem. I stated that black and white artist have been ripped off and I don't remember P putting all of the blame on white people. I will never lay off Motown because my comments are true. If you do your research plenty of proof about the mob and the music industry. If you are in the industry you should at least know the history of it.

You may not like the manner in which Prince went about making his statements about the industry but I hope you are not going to pretend that some of what he had to say was not valid regardless of his own behavior with WB which was already falling off when P started to Kirk out with them. I am sure if he did not leave WB that would have dropped him as all labels dump artist when the reach a certain age. He did not want to be on the label and they wanted him gone sounds like everybody got what they wanted.

Sweetheart, the only person with a comprehension reading problem here is you. You have no idea what you are ranting about, yes its always a rant with you. And your use of the english language gives me a headache. When you actually do have something to say, its so wrapped up in insults and hyperbole that it becomes meaningless.

Take a chill pill, read some books (the type without pictures in) and come back when you have a actual point to make.

All you have done above is agressively (as usual), agreed, then disagreed and then waffled on without making any point at all.

Ta, ta now.

Just read the interview EBONY/July issue. It was o.k. They could have asked other questions instead of the typical ones. Why ask private questions when you know he will not answer them? Why is everybody hating on prince? Is this not a FAN SITE ?

Remember, when we criticize someone else, we are really criticizing OURSELVES. That is a little something called PROJECTION.

If I were Prince, for my own sanity I would stay as far away from "the Org" as possible. Maybe I'd have my lawyers do an an occasional "once over" just because, but this is no place for someone to build their personna around. I mean we all have opinions, but I put myself in Prince's shoes for like one minute, and it didnt feel good at all. But I'm sure that we'll all continue to criticize and critique. He has created a monster, and the monster continues to gain momentum. Not bad for a 5ft 2 guy in heels who probably currently weighs no more than 100 pounds. What a big person.

By the way, it must be approaching the day of Michael's death pretty soon. RIP Michael. Prince has done a pretty good job of not letting what people say totally rip him apart. At least he still goes out in public.

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

Also, Prince is an intelligent man, he realizes how conniving interviewers can be. I was recently reading a Duke Ellington book, just skimming, he also took to controlling interviews after something he said caused problems. Journalists are just like everyone else in capitalist america, like Chuck Berry said after he read an interview that he felt dissapointed and thought of his fathers story of crabs in a barrel, a person doesn't have to cover the top, as a crab gets close to getting out, another grabs it. Just think of all the superstars who's lives have been made hell because of some asshole journalist, Michael Jackson had Martin Bashir, The Beatles made some statement about being bigger than Jesus, Recently, John Mayer said some stupid shit not seeing how many problems it would cause. I don't blame Prince at all for controlling interviews.

Beatles were high and deluded and that's how that slipped out, good for them they probably really did think they had more followers than Jesus. I never understood their phenomenom, I really tried I went back and listened to all their music.

John Mayer- Who has sisters singing back up for him, says the "N" word, and then says that he can't "get it up" for the sisters aka they don't get his dick hard.

Michael Jackson - Junkie who could not understand that age 40-something why it was inapppropriate to have sleep overs with kids, even if it was nothing fishy going on. God Rest Michael's Soul.

I said all of that not to point you out, but to say that all of those guys had damned good reason to flee the media. They were jerks and idiots. Not sure what Duke Ellington did though. Martin Bashir will have to answer for his deeds, because he manipulated the shyd out of Michael during that interview, and that led to Michael's virtual take down. But the fault still lied with Michael.

Well fuck John Mayer, but the rest were just taken out of context to one degree or another. As far as the beatles being overrated, that's a matter of taste. The point is, people have to be careful with these sheisty journalists digging for a good scoop. Bashir should never be forgiven for his trickery. Michael probably thought he could trust anyone with a suntan and let his guard down a little too much. How does the man reward Bashir? By putting him on nightline. Anyway, it should be a policy to have a healthy skepticism of journalists for artists of Prince's stature. Prince has said many times that his interviews in his early days were so fucked up that he decided to just start outright lying and fucking with them.

oh yeah, and chuck was a perv but I don't believe he was after kids in his videos, he wanted to see women. Everyone has skeletons, the famous are under a magnifying glass unlike the rest of us who do our dirty deeds in secret. I can't tell you how disgusted I was to discover that Bill Cosby was probably a serial rapist who bought his way out of serious scrutiny a few years ago. He was in town a few nights ago, i'm a former fan who didn't even think of going. What a fucking hypocrite.

Dude shut the fuck up!! You have made some of the most ignorant empty headed comments about racial issues on this board that I have ever read and that is saying a lot because this is Prince.org. After all according to most orgers the best way to solve racial issues is just not talk about them (LOL) In addition, you have not bothered to prove any statement I made about Motown and the mob and the general corruption of the music industry wrong or prove that P blamed any of his problems solely on white people.

You need to get your head out of your ass and come with some facts to back up your bullshit about the industry and race. Try getting over that this interview was in Ebony a black publication because that is what some of you have a bug up your ass about. I doubt you or any of the other morons even think about the numerous mags and media outlets that never feature any black people at all.

As far as grammar is concerned I am typing this at work so I do not have time to proofread. I am sorry I am not unemployed and living in my mom’s basement.

Please don’t complain about me insulting people when I have never started a post insulting people. I am not going to back down if someone comes at me first so if you cannot take it do not start with me.

I will say this Laura, you are very entertaining.

Do you have ass insecurities, cause you certainly like talking about them.

Blah blah blah blah ASS blah blah blah blah MORON blah blah blah blah ARE YOU ON CRACK blah blah blah blah ASS blah blah blah blah. blah blah blah blah you have a bug up your ass blah blah.

Why are you sorry you don't live in your mom's basement? Oh I get it, you can't type either.

Take the aggression elsewhere.

What age are you? Are your fingers too big for the computer keys or do you not understand how to communicate properly?

Either way, your posts are so monkey brained and badly written I need a translator to actually understand what you are ranting about. You attack everyone on these forums Laura, but you can't take what you give. Show a little respect and restraint in your posts and you might get the same back.

See that button above the return key? It's called delete, you should try using it a bit more. Quit playing the racial card, its old and tired and too easy to play in a forum like this.

The mods have already told you to take it else where. You never actually answer posts, you just rant.

Don't bother responding to me with another barrage of insults because I really couldn't be bothering responding to you again. If you do, I will have a laugh at your expense.

Oh and one last word of advice.

Punctuation is your friend.

This issue is selling out here because I went to the local Walmart and it was no longer there. MUST. GET. THIS. ISSUE.

I am SO glad that Prince has granted an interview. Especially one that gives insight into who and what he is.

@NeoGeo24bit,

WRONG! People do read Ebony as I and my family are avid readers. Have been for yearssss!

And I am very happy to see Prince giving the interview to a magazine that has Black America at the center of it's forefront.

Not that I have anything against any other magazine, just that with Prince being a Black American, it's important for one to support his or her own. And to give that interview to say, Rolling Stone, would not support the needs of Black America or it's causes nearly as much as it would granting the interview to Ebony.

The same if an Asian artist felt his people needed support in a certain area, and signed a contract to place his face as the spokeperson for a certain product that supports his community.

I think Prince was both smart, decisive and strategic when he selected Ebony as the vehicle to not only garner the sales of his interview, but to provide never before access, not granted to any other magazine or interviewer.

I have a new found, additional posture of respect for my all time favorite artist. And I will be purchasing the Ebony magazine, no matter where I must go to find it. My search continues tomorrow.....

Glad to hear that it was sold out in your area since a few orgers beat me down saying the interview would do nothing for Ebony's circulation. Kind of shows you that a lot of orgers do not know shit about what is going on in the black community and really need to shut the hell up about racial issues since they have nothing constructive or helpful to add.

1. His true nature will resist being supressed and he will rebel against the restrictions of organized religion.

I really feel his time is becoming very limited.

I think Prince wants control over interviews because he is basically insecure. I believe he is afraid to speak in the moment.

I do however, think that in his art he can not lie. I believe we get who he is through his lyrics and his music. These are the trademarks of a true artist living through his art.

His music has always revealed a belief in God. I believe the struggle represented in his music is evident with the way he used to mix sex and religion. I don't think it is that complicated, he is like all of us, he wishes to have his fleshly sins and still rationalize it is okay with God. This pseudo religion he sings has never been a path he was creating as much as a struggle he dealt with constantly.

Could you be Holy if you had women throw themselves at you like Prince has?

Prince is normal guy singing about normal problems through an extrodinary talent that paints with big strokes, vivid colors, and high energy. He has the talent to channel lame thoughts into grand works.

I think Jehov has given him a peace he never found before. I believe he still struggles. We all struggle if we believe.

We are all so full of doody here

His music has always revealed a belief in God. I believe the struggle represented in his music is evident with the way he used to mix sex and religion. I don't think it is that complicated, he is like all of us, he wishes to have his fleshly sins and still rationalize it is okay with God. This pseudo religion he sings has never been a path he was creating as much as a struggle he dealt with constantly.

Could you be Holy if you had women throw themselves at you like Prince has?

Prince is normal guy singing about normal problems through an extraordinary talent that paints with big strokes, vivid colors, and high energy. He has the talent to channel lame thoughts into grand works.

I think Jehovah has given him a peace he never found before. I believe he still struggles. We all struggle if we believe.

I was not speaking of the daily human struggles that most who have a believe in God have. I am speaking particularly to his association with THIS particular religion and the constraints that they represent.

Being raised a JW and being associated with them all my life, I am particularly knowledgeable about the strictness and rules and regulations of the belief. Hell, I was vilified as a child due to my love of Prince and his music.

In all honesty, and again, I do not know the man personally but do know the religion....eventually there will be a crossroads that he will have to make a decision about. There are other musicians who are JWs and he is walking a fine line that I really cannot see tolerated for much longer.

They didn't tolerate Michael and he was the most high profile person at the time, I don't see them tolerating Prince and his "dancing with the Devil".

Because of their half-baked mistakes, we get ice cream, no cake; all lies, no truth; is it fair to Kill the YOUTH ~~ Party Up

It's a strange possition for the GB tio be in . He is pretty low on the Witness higher archy but he is very prominent and seems to pick discussing his faith as his favorite subject. I honestly thought he had stopped going to any of the Halls because I couldn't fathom that the cover of Planet Earth and much of his past lyrics were not addressed. But I was very very wrong. He not only is on good terms but he also takes the stage and gives tallks eek . I tell you I was thinking that I was going to become a Baptized Witness by summer 2009. But having been a Catholic I am quite familiar with the rules being different depending on the members finances, ability to make out large checks and celebrity. I did not want that again for myself. I still occasionally go to Kingdom Hall, but since Lotusflow3r came out I don't see myself becoming Baptized.

I was raised a witness.....studied half of my life, before deciding it wasn't the path for me. Mom is still one.

I do not know what you are talking about with the finances, etc....donations are made in private and no one knows what you make or what you have...there is not tithing.

I find it funny that he is a JW considering the pummeling I received when I was a young Prince fan and the inappropriateness of his music etc.

Funny how life changes through time.

The thing is if he is giving large, LARGE donations they are probably by check and that check has his name on it. So, although it is not there policy to pass the basket, and therebye everyone can see if you dropped something, it is quite possible for elders to note just how large those checks that descreetly are dropped in the boxes in back are.

I really enjoy your post because I have been saying this for a year.

I find it funny when non-Witnesses say that the Witnesses have turned him into a robot. He is the most out of control Witness out there.

I have also said that Witnesses don't like it when you bring his name up, he is a bit of an embarassment, but nobody does anything about it . If he is giving talks he is most deffinately in good standing. eek

I don't think many of the Brothers and Sisters buy his music and I don't see Awake magazine or the Watchtower doing a little profile on him in this lifetime either.

Am I the only one who thinks he looks a bit like the love child of two of my favorite legends, Vincent Price and Little Richard. If I had ZombieKittens or TheVoids photoshopping skills I would prove it.

The fact of the matter is, John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival, had the same complaint Prince had, way back in the 1980's. The complaint was, "The Record Company owns the rights to my music". Yeppers! They all signed contracts agreeing to the terms. In Prince's case, he was given the MOST $$ ever, for a recording contract. He wasn't treated differently, because of religion, nationality, nor race. John Fogerty is white. He didn't complain "someone white is ripping me off".

If Prince at least stated: record executives shouldn't take advantage of musicians, I'd feel better.

No. It was "white" ownership is keeping down blacks.

Berry Gordy? He withheld royalties to his musicians. It wasn't until he sold Mowtown (for around 60 mil$ I believe) to another organization, the artists started getting checks. He was sued by the majority of his clients, before it was over, who realized they should have been paid all along. Plus there were other unethical financial practices.

To be sure, promoting his next musical endeaver, in Ebony magazine, is sound advertising.

Alienating Caucasion fans, is poor judgement. And since he wrote the responses to the questions in advance, he had plenty of time to think about the answers.

Noooo, I don't want to hear the "why are you here", or "on this site"....blah blah blah "if you have ill feelings towards Prince".....etc etc.

Not to add to the pain, in P's gluteus maximus, some techie/nerd came up with the concept prince.org 1st! while P was asleep at the wheel. And it's an unofficial site. Too bad the guy's not of same tribe(google the term).

I know. I know. I know. It's a grim reminder, of how ya just gotta stay sharp!

[Edited 6/15/10 20:07pm]

Why would John Fogerty complain about someone "white" ripping him off, when all of the major labels (even Motown because of Mob ties) were controlled by white people? You need to research the music industry, before you comment on this topic. I have never heard P openly blame white people for all his problems in the industry (some of which he caused) I think he was trying to tell black artists to control their intellectual property, much like major companies: retain control of their intellectual property.(reiterate statement) Too many artists black and white have been ripped off. In some cases there has been forgery, or the record company just does not pay the royalties. The artist's contract stipulates these royalties should be paid.

There is a lot more to corrupt record company practices then what you appear to know.

You're confused. Worse yet, a simplton.

Page 88, column two, last response by Prince. I am not able to quote, due to terms and conditions,

and will para phrase:

1. There's a monopoly

2. Of "ownership" of Black Music

3. By Whites, which should be abolished.

Prince himself, announces the race term.

You have the audacity to blame the "Mafia", for Berry Gordy, making a heck of alot of $$$, exploiting black artists?? Italians? OH! Right.

WTF????

I'VE ALWAYS WONDER WHY DO PEOPLE LOOK FOR EVERY MISTAKE THAT JEHOVAH WITNESSES MAKE. WE ARE IMPERFECT HUMANS LIKE EVERY ONE ELSE. PRINCE MAY HAVE TALKED TO SOME OF THE ELDERS CONCERNING ANY MISTAKES HE HAS MADE. IF SO HE DOESN'T HAVE TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO YOU AND I. WHAT REALLY AMAZING IS EVERYONE ELSE CAN CURSE,FUSS,FIGHT,COMMIT ADULTRY,FORNICATION STEAL,MURDER,ETC. BUT IF A JEHOVAH WITNESS MAKE A MISTAKE EVERYONE IS QUICK TO REMIND YOU. I WONDER WHY? IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT YOU WILL HAVE YOUR ANSWER.I'M SURE THAT EVERYONE OF US HAVE MADE MANY MISTAKES SO PLEASE LEAVE JEHOVAH WITNESSES AND PRINCE ALONE.sexy hug hug
