I'm 22 and obsessed with prince the first albums I bought was the hits and b-sides, purple rain and batman all at once. At the moment my favourite albums are love symbol and lovesexy but that always changes. But the thing that really got me into prince originally was the bonus DVD of batman which had the prince videos.

18 years old here! nana
Prince is my favourite music to listen to, I got hooked on the Purple Rain & Dirty Mind albums, & it just escalated from there really. All my friends make fun of me for liking Prince, but it's their loss nod

Im 33, and I know thats over 30, but I discovered him when I was 15 and was hardcore by the time I turned 18. In fact it was while I was 18/20 that I was most hardcore about him (1994/97), kind of went off him for a while, but got back into him when I was 28 and have never looked back.
I say stick to your guns as you younger fans are the next generation to carry the cult of Prince onwards.
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

I'm into my 29th year and I have been listening to Prince since I was 11. Wow, I didn't even realize that its been that long. The first album that got me hooked was the Batman soundtrack because I loved the movie. Wow, again 18 years, man.

Although I'd never describe myself as a "fam" or feel hurt when someone mocks his purple weirdness or anything about him, I would describe my approach to his music as "hardcore". Whenever I find something I don't have on CD/LP/tape, I have to buy it, no matter what the price or whether I know that stuff by heart.

I was just curious because you do not hear of many young people claiming that they are bona fide purple heads!I'm 20 years old and I absolutely adore Prince's music . I was listening to my mp3 player today and actually skipped through alot of the other songs I have on it to listen to His Purple Badness. So my question to my fellow orgers is do you have any younger brothers/sisters, teenage sons/daughters,or any young person you know who thinks Prince's music is the Shiznit? smile

I don't mean any harm, but what would draw anybody to Prince under 30? You guys were not old enough to remember when the world had "SUPERSTARS" like Prince and Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen (I think I spelled my mans last name wrong), hell even Madonna. Any of us who were around during those days witness greatness as it was happening...you guys just read about. Again, I am not trying to be biased, I just want to understand what would draw the "new school" to Prince in today's world and music scene?

I was around for Prince's "glory days" and I remember it even though I'm 26.

I didn't read about Prince, I witnessed it.

I remember running around at 5 years old dancing to his music.

Still 29 here! That being said, not sure how hardcore I am since I don't own any bootlegs (but I do own every studio album). I guess I'm hardcore enough. He is probably my favorite artist, especially factoring in the Prince associated songs and his influence on R&B and pop with semi-related songs like "Oh Sheila".

If you would have asked this 2 months ago, I would have said me, but I just turned 30 so I dont count. However, my friend who is not yet 30 is as hardcore as any Prince fan could hope to be.

I consider myself to be hardcore. I have copies of bootlegs, but I dont have every studio album like you do.
