Cosmic Day is awesome.

I would give up an organ for the rest of this. Until then, it's a great short form song ala Bowie's Breaking Glass. Who's with me?

I think all that's out there right now is about a minute. It feels like my new favorite Prince song is just about to begin, and then it just fades out. So frustrating. I really hope it comes out some day.

Yeah thats what it was. Short sample or so of a minute. It seemd to have the spirit/same sessions of In A Large Room...but not as hurried.

nod

It has that 86'/87' sound that everyone loves. I could see it being recorded around the same time as Large Room. The guitar on it is just beautiful though. It's the aural equivalent of a clear blue sky.

I feel it works pretty well as a starter track on mix cds and playlists as it is. Just follow it up with something similarly sunny and you're golden.

I'll have to try it in front of Make Your Momma Happy, I've been really digging that one lately.

I have it before Pulp's Common People on one of my favorite mix CD's, lyrically the Pulp song is far more cynical, but they both have a sort of friendly pop bite to them that makes them work well together.

Dear Prince, if you ever need any organs, I would also give you some in exchange for the full version of "Cosmic Day".

Even though the clip is all I have, it's in my Top 5 unreleased Prince tracks. It makes me deliriously happy when I listen to it biggrin biggrin

That's because all the other Camille songs were originally song in his normal register, and then pitched up. 'Cosmic Day', however, was sung in falsetto and then pitched up, so it's even higher than the other Camille material.

i remade this song. its one of my favorites and everytime it comes on i couldnt help but play it at least 8 times. most of its appeal is because its so short (same as I wonder U and other short songs)

I wanted to do a "full length" version but i couldnt come up with any lyrics that were just as awesome. i tried to get some help here but ehhh yano ,lol lol

... "Breaking Glass"? What?

I'll have to check out the vocals by pitch shifting or slowing it down. I'd like to hear that falsetto.

It's definitely Prince. I couldn't get it down to the exact speed with the computer, but I guess it could be done more convingly with my tape machine. He seems to be singing it somewhat quietly. It's possible that he also sped up Wendy & Lisa for the chorus, not sure about that one though!

No, I just quickly listened it through. They might not be there, of course. It was just a little bit unusual harmony for Prince perhaps.

after having read about it for years, I was fairly underwhelmed when I heard that clip.

that and it sounds very close to some other (non-Prince) song that I can't think of at the moment.

The Line?

Love 89?

It really sounds like The 1 U Wanna C and I Can Never Take The Place Of Your Man too.

don't you think it's a bit too cartoon/disneyfied? - i can imagine Alvin and the Chipmunks singing this. It's very much like Good Love, greta track for the hardcore but bloody embarassing to play for friends when he sings in THAT voice.

Supposedly it sounds a bit like George Harrison's "What Is Life". And a bit yeah it does...however this still is a completely different tune.

Shameful to slam a brilliant tune like Cosmic Day. The song is one of his best. Would love to hear if the song goes on a different tangent.

Makes you saddened even more when you think of his crappy new joints. Comparing sugar free hersheys to real swiss chocolate.

I thought the exact same thing about the guitar solo.

Great great song.

I would love Prince to revisit this, maybe do a new version. It's got classic Pop song written all over it.

If he re did it without the high pitched Camillie type vocals he could have a another hit.

I agree it's cartoonish, but I guess that doesn't bother me. A friend of mine who really likes Prince's Camille tracks commented that they all sound like they're being sung by an animated frog in drag, a mental image I can't shake and honestly kind of like.

I ALWAYS ASSUMED THAT THIS SONG WAS MENT FOR A FEMALE, not meant for him. hence the song being found a tape to be given to other artists. probably coulda been written for the bangles or some shit, who noes.
