I gave up on Prince in the mid-90s. He's sucked since 1990. hasn't written a truly great song since the late 80s.

Can't wait to hear posters recite all the crap songs he's released since then that they will claim are great songs.

If u gave up on him since then,
why is it u "can't wait to hear posters recite all the crap songs..." confuse
wouldn't that be wasting your time?
I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

it didn't read like an album review to me. it read more like a meditation on prince's latter day output in general. if it was meant to be an album review, it wasn't terribly focused.

It read to me like a review of someone like a whole lot of us...that have been giving Prince a pass...based on what we know he is capable of but haven't been calling him out on because...because well...he's Prince! And those that KNOW... KNOW INDEED that he is indeed special!

However, when you make repeated conscience efforts to distance yourself from what has made you great by INSISTING on being judged on what you are doing NOW...it will happen! And if your NOW isn't all that you and those too afraid to cross you...think it is! Well, eventually the chips will fall where they may! shrug

Ofcourse fans disagree on different projects and music that Prince puts out there. That is natural. But this article is not professional, it only uses Purple Rain as a benchmark and the writer does not make a good case of why our man is now mr. P.drain. I was very afraid that Lotusflow3r and Mplsound were not good enough but both are growing on me and I feel that Prince is having fun. And I am having fun listening to it! I need to listen more to decide where this ranks according to prior CD's but I don't think that Prince deserves this kind of article.

What is that supposed to mean, though? It's not like Prince is giving away anything for free that he can withhold from people he deems to be "haters."

I just listened to all three CDs again on a long drive, just to give him the benefit of the doubt. The ONLY good song is Dreamer in my opinion, made me think just a tad. All of the others left me either laughing out loud or shaking my head at the very bad lyrics.

And for Prince, no more money 4 U. At least not until you take your music seriously again. neutral

eek eek eek eek

THANK YOU! clapping

I am totally singing that song with those lyrics

No More money, No more money for u! falloff

Just saw this pop up on Yahoo! And I am trippin' on the fact that the writer states that Planet Earth is MUCH better than these cd's...

Yep. This critic lost all credibility in my eyes after I read that line.

That's what did it for me too.

I like the fact that the critic is very detailed in explaining what he's listening for, and why he feels Prince's latest falls short. But then to go on and say Planet Earth is better?

Don't you even like Feel good... Pumping up the volume it feels like Prince and his band are live in your living room. BTW I feel like most of the songs on Lotusflow3r have this live flavour, which I really like.

Not trying to be funny...are you referring to yourself or Prince.

This is Prince's journey, we're bystanders and blessed to observe.

Let's be real. All of us here buy his music. Most of us probably get some stuff free, as well, but we're all paying customers. That's all I meant.

Man, 1984 was shit. Second half of kindergarten. Talk about your crushing disappointments in life. School was horrible. The first half of first grade was even worse. Purple Rain was okay when it came on cable. My parents didn't want me to watch it but I did. Several times. I never did get the cassette. But I did write the lyrics to 'Lets Go Crazy' inside this cardboard playhouse thing in my mom's classroom.

yeah we've allspent a fortune, but you don't have to anymore is what I mean. I don't buy the new Paul McCartney cd just because the Beatles are my favorite band

And I didn't buy 21 nights or the web site $77 because I know better.
