why would you nutjobs be so happy about Prince having a #1 album the man clearly could care less about his fans the way he closes down fansites and doesn't listen to the fans requests for remastering his past albums so why the fuck would you want this prick to having any success at all? This is just ignorant. Prince closed down the NPGMC because of his divorce. It had NOTHING 2 do with his fans. Prince may not be responsible 4 the remastering of his catalog... that's likely up to Warner Bros. "He's a musician's musician..."

I just saw this on Dr FB: www.docfb.com
Prince’s new 3 cd set Lotus Flow3r debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 with about 168,000 sold, although Hits Magazine had Prince at number 1 with almost 20,000 more copies sold. Keith Urban outsold Prince by 3,000 copies if the numbers stay the same.Hits numbers usually always differ from soundscan, which is what Billboard and the public go by. We are wondering where those 20,000 copies went or were they not counted. It is an impressive debut but if those 20,000 copies were sold, the CD should be at number 1. Perhaps what Prince said about the music industry is true and then Bria Valente actually lost the bet…. Billboard is the gold standard. Let me say this; Lotus Flow3er is Prince’s best first week sales since 3121, which debuted at number 1 with over 180,000 sold. The music industry is everchanging and Prince is still that dude challenging it, 25 years after his first number 1 album on Billboard. Prince (and Bria), you may not have debuted at number 1 but you are number 1 with us.-Dr.FB [Edited 4/8/09 8:56am] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". It is an impressive debut but if those 20,000 copies were sold, the CD should be at number 1. -snip- come on now. how would they know if those copies were sold? the whole point of soundscan is that it is a mechanized way to count the units. the reason it was adopted is because it was more accurate than the previous methods, which in many cases relied upon guesswork. it's not that i trust soundscan or billboard, but this is just purely made up. recount! it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

Umm, when you are taking people's money you owe it to them, not to let your personal problems stop you from delivering the service. Many people paid Prince money and got little to nothing in return. No excuses, he should have QUICKLY made things right. Refunds, working MP3's... something! Dude, did not explain, did not make it right. He's a freaking multi-millionaire. He could easily have corrected the problem if he gave a damn! He spends more money on light-up shoes and symbols on his limos than what a refund would have costed.

i doubt if dr fb (or prince, through him) would be pointing fingers if trade magazines showed prince at #2 and soundscan showed him at #1.
prince has complained about soundscan not counting sales from mom and pop stores before, but in this case target is the only retail outlet. maybe prince doesn't believe target. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

So the next improved deal set-up is:
a) record album b) hype it into heaven c) make deal with US retailer which has online sales credibility d) release in USA only for the first month e) bingo! #1 Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

The American charts don't matter. George Bush don't care about charts. • Did you first think Prince was gay? •

I wonder how this Urban guy would've done if he only sold through Target?
How popular is he in the US? Wat genre of music he does? I have no idea who this Urban guy is, so for those of u who do know, do u think he would've come in at #2 like Prince if he took the distribution road Prince took? I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh
