Sinead O'Connor has revealed that she told Prince to "f*** himself" when the two disagreed over her swearing in interviews.

The singer had previously recorded a cover of one of the star's tracks for her 1990 album I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got.

O'Connor said: "I didn't hit it off with Prince. I met him after I'd recorded 'Nothing Compares 2 U' and he said he didn't appreciate how I used bad language in my interviews.

"I told him to go f*** himself and he wasn't very happy."

I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got is re-released by EMI in a two-disc version on April 13.

Funny how so many people here will bend over backwards to defend Prince, no matter how big of a selfish, egomaniacal prick he has been and can be.

Tell me - how many of you would appreciate someone telling you how to speak when you're an adult. How many of you would say the same thing as her? I, for one, would.

And don't call me a Prince hater - I adore the man, the music, and his many flaws (and shitty music and all). I'm just as big of a fan as anyone else here.

By the way, Sinead had an impressive career in her own right both before and after her biggest hit (yes, which Prince did write), no matter how many people she pissed off. Which was a lot. But Prince pissed off a lot of people too, but I don't hear the jerks here railing on him for it.

And for my money, there hasn't been a more beautiful voice in music for the past 30 years.

First of all, words get misconstrued, misinterpreted, and people get misquoted... so who really knows if she's telling the truth or not. And who really knows if Prince actually said that to her. If she did say it, she was nothing more than an unappreciative cunt. She would've maintained her small fan-base without Prince's song. If Prince did say that to her, I can imagine it being in a sarcastic way, and not like he was bitching at her ass.
