Prince, the Dancer..

Do you think he'll ever dance in concerts as much as he used to...? If not, why? If so, why?

I believe that Prince will always dance...As U get older U really have no other choice but to slow down.

When we're 20...living the energetic life...we really don't realize what gravity and our atmosphere does to us.

We take up a lot of shock in a lifetime...and we breathe a lot more than oxygen...That's just the way it goes for everybody.

Thank God...We can trade these in someday...There's "Joy in Repetition." cool

Prince did a lot more dancing on Friday's Leno than I expected. He even went into a little James Brown thing. I doubt we'll see choreographed dance moves and splits but he'll still get down a little bit when the groove hits him.

I still get a little sad every time I watch the Little Red Corvette video. We will never see Prince do something like that again. Back nothing lasts forever - though he doesnt look it, time does indeed take a toll on Prince just as it doesn us normal human beings. How many 50 year old men do you know who can still do multiple splits or jump off pianos in 6 inch heels?

yup, very suprised. biggrin Seems like he was in a very very good mood.
Great show, I think Tonights show was the best one yet.
Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize
u simply imagined this
So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,
with u it's not so bad
Here on earth, here on earth
eye don't feel so sad
Stay right here

No.

You know why too.

And Im glad he isnt because he seems to be focusing more on the musicanship more then ever these past few years. Taking away the crazy clothes and dance antics have sharpend up his shows imo. Especially with the guitar. Id rather se him rip the guitar with one hand like at the Conga Room rather then see him do the splits ever again.

hmmm..I don't mind not seeing the splits no more...but I'd like to see some more choreography....he was a good dancer - not in a michael jackson way, 4 me MJ was too scripted...but Prince was a natura; - still is when he feels it...but anyone dancing by them selves looks 'out of place'....I loved it when the band used to 'groove' the same....same look, same style...same moves.....nowdays prince and the band seem like separate entities on stage (although his bands r still tight musically!!)

BTW it ain't cos he's old...james brown was doing the splits years after he was 50 wasn't he??!!

I love when he does the splits and to see him do the dance move today was a surprise. It was one of them JB/Prince old school twirl arounds. I love that he's focusing on the music but a little dancing Prince style is something I really dig and missed.

I've been saying this for the longest time now. His bands used to have choreography and a certain unified look, but these days, they all look "normal" (like a common, cover or bar band) and they barely MOVE, himself definitely included!! Move, negro, MOVE!!!! It's like he's afraid to sweat a little bit. Shit, he barely wants to perform without his sunglasses. It's like he thinks he's too cool for the room instead of just fuckin' the place up!!

And I don't think Josh, Yonnet, or whoever could do some steps to save their lives. Like I said, you could close your eyes at a Prince show now and not miss a thing...because ain't shit up there to see anymore. There's no visual part to his live shows anymore, very sadly! Just one of the reasons why he needs a rhythm guitarist. Not only to fill out the stage, but to give his sound more "rhythm" (LOL) or more of a polished/full feel. You can definitely tell the difference on stage without one, as Mike Scott pointed out after the SuperBowl.

eek Prince had hip replacement surgery last year. He's been dancing for over 20 years! I understand he was taking it sort of bad because he knows he'll never be the same. Ask any athelete, and they will tell you that level of GREATNESS doesn't last forever. But the man is still the GREATEST!

Maybe he will go back to licking his guitar instead of dancing.
