He *might* have a hit on his hands.

I remember when he performed on MTV and on Arsenio one week before the release of D&P. The fickle American audience still had the performances fresh on their minds when the album dropped shortly thereafter.

He pulled the same kind of magic with Musicology performing at the RRHOF and other venues. Folks always point out that he gave away copies with concert tickets, but it was a bonafide hit even without that factored in.

He could have had a bigger hit with Planet Earth if he's released a better album, and released no more than a week or two after the superbowl throwing in a latenight show performance for that.


If he REALLY does a good job and gets the word out, being that the album is so inexpensive and dropping just a few days later, at the end of the month near payday for most folks, he might have a hit on his hands.


Now if he can just stop with this websherrif nonsense (I sure hope he doesn't talk with Leno and the questions over that come up--Prince always sounds like a pompous ass whenever he discusses that kind of thing), he might not end up getting boo'd the way Metallica did during the MTV music awards a few years back after they sued Napster.

Good to see some real advertising for the project, unlike the 2 last ones, where it looked like Prince was ashamed of them.

Prince really does have it in for Australia.

Thinking process:
"Now going there only twice in 20 years is not really enough is it? What else can I do to stick the knife in. Hmmm... OK, No local distributors for the new album. Check! What else... Now, I could do Letterman or the Tonight show...which one?? Hmmm.....Well, Australia only gets Letterman, So....."
