I know!! why not letterman?!?!!?? I know Jay gets better ratings but...he still sux. LOL! biggrin I'm still excited to see him though.

Let this go already! Leno is a better rated show so more people will hear the new music plus Prince and Leno have a very good relationship, and Prince can actually sit down on Leno and have a decent conversation about all sorts of topics. Plus do you remember the only time Prince performed on Letterman. Not so bueno.

Plus I wonder what kinda pranks P and Leno will play on each other this time??? smile

I remember. He performed Dolphin, back in the symbol days. What year was that?

He kept telling Paul to call him Prince, and laughing. I thought it was kinda funny, and I think Dave is the true king of late night. His interviews with the guests are better and funnier. Jay is lame.

Having said all that, I'm always glad to see these kind of performances, and my DVR will be set for getting this in HD! Sweeeet!

Get your facts straight. You obviously don't remember that Prince performed two times on David Letterman's show. The first time he performed "Dolphin" 12/04/1994, and the second time he played "Dinner with Delores" 2nd July 1996 (aired 8th July 1996) to promote the "Chaos and Disorder" album.

As long as it's new then I'm cool. I just hope I don't hear any 80's shit from him. I'll suck it up if he does but I won't be thrilled.

u mean like when he did the work pt 1 one night

then followed it up the next night with the ballad of dorothy parker eek

just imagine if arsenio was still around ..how many nights would he do there?

and people should b aware that this is probably the last time u c prince on late night tv cause i really can't c him doing conan ..maybe jimmy fallon if he's still around due 2 the roots being the backing band but i highly doubt he will do late night tv again after this ..

Yes to the The Work Pt 1./Dorothy Parker question.

Jay is still going to be on late night TV but just earlier at 10pm later this year so I'm sure Prince will be on Jay's show at some point after he moves to that time slot.

my only hope for the shows is that prince sits at the couch and chats up the new album a little bit. part of it is because i hope he announces some big new plans for this year, and part of it is just because it's fun watching him banter with leno, and it's been way too long since we've seen prince goofing off and talking smack on TV.

I want that and I don't want that. Of course I want to hear what Prince has to say period cause I want to know what's up with the man and the CD's but no because if he does talk about the new CD and he talks about what he wants to do with the project, people here will go nuts and keep harping on it and if he doesn't do even 1% of what he said, then the people here will lose their mind and we'll have to endure yet more complaining about what Prince hasn't done, no matter how small it is. The less said, the better.

i think he handled the musicology tour pretty well. he said a lot without really saying much of anything, but it was fun to watch him chat for a bit. that, plus "mel! mel gibson! what's shakin', baby?" lol

Yes, I'm guessing from your username you are in the UK. CNBC is shown on Sky satellite, Virgin, (not sure if it's on Freeview). The Tonight Show is usually 2 or 3 days behind the American broadcast. I usually check the Tonight show website for the guests the day before Prince and then tally that up with the Sky Electronic Programme Guide on screen.
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

You're right about that Anx. That was a fun interview too. I can't believe it was over 5 years ago. I hope we have the same kind of thing in a couple of weeks.

ahh....it's the only time I've ever said anything about it...so what's with the "let it go already" BS?
so...are you privy to info? is he going to play new music? I sure hope so!
I don't recall Prince sitting down with leno....ever...perhaps I just forgot but please...refresh my memory if you could be so kind.
I recall when Prince was on letterman...not sure if it was the only time or what but...PRINCE was the one being weird...NOT dave.

prince sat down a few times with leno 1st during his per4mance of the work pt 1 in 2001, then the next night he did the same

prince sat down with leno after he scooted from the stage 2 chairs during musicology with mel gibson sitting next 2 him which prompted prince 2 chime out 'MEL GIBSON BABY WHAT'S SHAKING!!" this interview with leno was also the time where prince professed that after the musicology tour the hits would never b played again ..(rolleyes yeah i'm still waiting on that promise)

as 4 other discussions on y leno over letterman, the reason really is simple, NBC's the 2night show has always shown love 2wards the mpls sound over letterman (the time, sheila e, patti labelle) have been on that show numerous times. not 2 mention, hate 2 say this but it's true, the 2night show will feature more r & b acts more than letterman would. and the last nail in the coffin should take in2 fact that letterman had that cover band purple reign on where they were selling a dvd that wasn't authorzied by prince. big no no no!

i'm just hoping that prince does a new song from each album instead of doing some old hit song pray

I remember when that Purple Reign group was on Letterman. I was shocked they went on basically imitating another artist on television. My Mom called me the next day and said "Prince was on tv last night". I said, "No Mom, that was not Prince." She was surprised, but hey, My mom is in her 80s so I'll excuse her for that, but it was funny when she swore that was Prince.

funny story about that dolphin per4mance ...we had gotten newsletters about this per4mance and how prince wanted his fans 2 write slave on our faces and some us did. we were outside cause some of us didn't have tickets having a grand ole time playing his music etc..then we waited by the stage door 2 c him come out. everytime the door would open people would start screaming and kathy lee gifford came out thinking we were all out there 4 her, she was like "all these people out here 4 me!!" some screamed "FUCK NO WE AIN'T WAITING 4 U WE'RE WAITING ON PRINCE GET YO ASS OUTTA HERE!!"

then when prince came out he came out so quick people started mobbing the car he hopped in leaving mayte behind because they took off so quickly

Oh I thought Jay was retiring. I always fall asleep waiting for the musical guests to perform on these late night shows, since on the East Coast, Jay's show doesn't air until 11:37pm, and the musical guests don't perform until around 12:33am.

falloff Yeah that was painful having to sit through hearing all the ways you can use Vegetable Oil just to see Prince do one song. It would be great if Jay gave the full hour to Prince like Arsenio used to do. That would be hot!
