just listened to this one, i like the minimal funk sound, his vocal delivery and lyrics are what kills it. The intro and outro are cool. it would make a cool instrumental. The outro with the wailing guitar is cool.
This is the same tired vocal delivery and lyrics that have plagued most of his 90's music.
One thing all the new songs lack is is passion and an edge.
He definately is in need of a producer to push him just a little bit harder.

He basically used his guitars to highten the effects of the samples given in the set to create the snares used specifically the 'kuh' and the 'pah' sound used on When Doves Cry, Raspberry Beret, The Beautiful Ones, Lets Go Crazy 1999....The Glamorus Life...that drum effect was created by Prince on that machine.

there are parts to it I like but it was the least interesting of the five imo, it is somewhere between Emancipation and NPS vibe. I can picture a compilation with Acknowledge Me, Never Ne Another Like Me, Marrying Kind etc

heard the first 3 seconds and absolutely hated it.

i've listened to it a few times now. it's grown on me a little bit, but that's probably because my mind wanders and i don't actually hear any of it and then realize it's over without remembering what it actually sounded like.

I agree with you, especially the bolded part in particular. I let one of my best friends, who is a Prince fan but not a diehard, hear the new songs and he liked all of them but he loved this song. It was his favorite in the bunch. I believe if he makes this a single, this song will be a hit, I really believe that. Now having a hit doesn't mean much anymore but even with that, it would be so nice to see him have a hit song one more time. If it happens, beautiful.
