His voice is fly in this. Cool track, but still he made of more than that.
The instrumental is painfully FUNKY.
Love the instrumental big time.

This is a really cool track. Nothing close to Controversy but very candy-likeable funk, a bit like on The Gold Experience. It's very addictive actually!!!

He definitely has the single radio format in mind when writing something like this. Really hope the rock/funk double album rumors are true because I cannot imagine him placing that song after those amazing rock tracks on the same album. It would ruin the whole thing. What bothered me in his last 2 albums was that there was no cohesion. No concept. Just a bunch of good tunes each one of them touching a different genre. We all know he is versatile and can play anything and this worked on SOTT and Musicology but I dig more when he works around one idea for a whole album like 1999 or even The Rainbow Children.

But yeah, can't stop listening to this song...great party tune!

Made my day!! biggrin

Brings to my mind Jukebox with a Heartbeat - a more contemporary adaptation of the Linn Drum with a shout-like chorus. It's cool. music

P isn;t trying to break any new ground with this song, but the song is awesome, funky. He's having fun with it, it's really catchy. Listened to it about 15 times last night. Colonized Mind is amazing also!

(There'll Never B) Another Like Me
Whooo!
Really don't matter who you get with
'Cuz it just ain't meant to be
Really doesn't matter 'cuz
U never shoulda coulda woulda ever been like me

I can get u what u want
Anything at all girl
All u have to say is please
Ask your mother, your sister, your brother
There will never be another
Never be another like me

Late afternoon
Slipped out of my bed
Turned up the stereo
About to wake the dead

Slipped in the bathroom
Put some olive oil in my hair
Walked in the closet
Try to find something to wear

Then I check my emale
To see where the party be
Change the names to protect the guilty
And get ready to cream

Should I bring somebody?
Or dance alone?
It don't matter to me y'all
'Cuz the night is on whoo!

Come on!

(refrain)

About half past ten
And I'm on my way
Heard you had to find a little Peurto Rican dj (oh mama sita)
She ain't got Prince's new song
It's gonna be a scene
'Cause I can't stand nobody cussin'
When I'm clean

Arms all around me
As soon as I hit the door
Good thing I ate my spinach
You can pick a xxxxx

Oh, what's this boy looking at?
Why you making that face?
Don't he know I got crazy friends with me?
Ready to help this place?

(refrain)

Can't you see this is xxxx xxxx?
What's the use in wasting time?
U and me we can be comfortable
All it take is for you to
Make up your mind

So, now what's the matter?
Huh. U and me, we both dimes
Said we were
All them other pennies should scatter
We all not waste this time

That's why ...

(refrain)

What u waiting for?
What u waiting for?
So, what u think of them before?
I psyche.
I like them healthy baby
Let's get out on this dance floor

syble

i dont like the synth sound on his voice in places its all over all the pop tracks these days like rhianna cant seem to record without it

i think ill reserve judgement till ive heard it a few times, i thought the lyrics were a bit lame - not princes old standard imo prince needs to get laid to get his funk back. all this being 'clean' stuff is seriously affecting his artistic output. its like he now has no life and therefore no lyrics to find.

he needs to go find his mojo. biggrin

I actually like the instrumental better. It would be a cool way to end an album, short but sweet. The vocals changed the vibe too much for me.

Agreed.
Or he could've stuck it on the vocal version as a nice 8+ minute jam. You know, like he used too.
