Well, you're righteous (and arrogant) enough to believe you know the mind of God. Which, of course, is just not possible.

I agree. MAKE your point and move on if you dislike it. If you like it ...talk it up!
Trust me - this is a problem when discussing other artists music too. It's like people who dislike want to prove how smart they are by continuing to dog it. Which just makes you look like you have an agenda...and a jerk.
And as you see from my post I say this from the angle of someone who think this song is less than good.

Absolutely.... I totally agree. I’m glad 2 see most people on here who r digging the new music. What really gets me is that the people who have traveled this road with Prince should pretty much know him musically, but they still moan and groan about the same things over and over. They have complained so much about him holding back on the guitar, yet on every new song Prince has that guitar talking loud. He is truly in the zone like no other and they want 2 fine the lyrics 2 be so offensive. Please get over it already and enjoy his gift. If this is not your cup of tea remember he has a catalog of music like no other. IMO if Prince had lost it like some say, I would not be on this message board complaining about his music and religion beliefs, knowing I can’t do a damn thing about it. The music is beautiful, the vocals r very strong and clear, the production is on point, and most importantly the music is rocking. I totally love the direction Prince is heading towards with these new songs. I’m totally excited about all this beautiful music and I love how a song here and there r growers.

Prince! Continue 2 Take Me with U....

Thank u God 4 Prince who has been an inspiration in my life.
I love the gift Prince has and how he has spent a life time sharing it with us.

Hooray and much love 4 the Prince of Music

I know nothing of the mind of God except that what He revealed in His word.
This simply means that I am a person of faith, and there is nothing arrogant about that because anyone can study the Word Of God.
To believe that we can not know the mind of God is called agnostic. That is what you are defining yourself as. And that is all joking aside.

I'm glad so many get the point. I just find it strange that one consumes so much of their time and energy spewing negativity on songs they dislike, and giving it so much attention, instead of spending more of that time and energy focusing and discussing with others which of the songs they actually like. It's almost as if they have a totally different agenda for spreading their obsessed negativity and just can't seem to let go.lol

Seeing the two-party dictatorship as an illusion of choice isn't a JW teaching. According to the USA Today in 2007 58% of Americans said 3rd party(ies) were needed in this country. And as Ralph Nader says, there are differences in the two parties, but at the end of the day they both serve the same master: corporate america. Perhaps Obama might try to change that, but the chances of that succeeding are slim. You're right, part of the one party supports health care and part of the other supports this or that. At that level, of course one's choice matters, but when it comes to chosing the lesser of evils (as P explicitly mentions), as one would do if one votes for someone or something that one doesn't necessarily believe in but because one fears the alternative... in that circumstance, one's not dealing with real choice. Choice and compromise being two different things.

I can't prove that God doesn't exist as much as you can. Like I said, it's not for me to proove something I don't believe in. Isn't this obvious? The difference between us is that I don't govern my life based upon a bunch of principles I cannot attest to. If you value truth then you value evidence. I take it that when you, or a family member, is ill then you suddenly act like God doesn't exist right? You go to a hospital to seek medicine brought upon my man-made scientific advances...not some abstract medical facility in the sky.

lol... in the first place, I'm not arguing with you. I simply stated that I am a person of faith. You have been absolutely intent on insulting me. It makes you angry that there are 'people like me.'

Dood, what's it to you? And I'm sorry to say that faith does cut it for some people. That's not for you to say simply because you don't have faith. And once again, I don't care if you do or not.

And yes, it is futile for you to try to drive me away from my faith. Once again, I don't care what you think. What you believe matters very little to who I am.

I'm sure you are a smart person, I have not tried to insult you, simply to defend who I am, and I have been on the defense since you have been insulting and attacking me. But make no doubt, a person's I.Q. is not based on whether or not they are a person of faith. No matter how smart you think you are, or how right you believe you are, there is a person of faith out there somewhere who is smarter. And isn't that all that you are really concerned with? Looking smart on the forum.

on a side note.... Louis Pasteur is recognized as the father of modern medicine, he was a Christian,

"Pasteur saw no conflict between science and Christianity. In fact, he believed that ‘science brings men nearer to God’. In his work as a scientist, he perceived evidence of wisdom and design, not randomness and chaos. Pasteur stated that: ‘The more I study nature, the more I stand amazed at the work of the Creator’."

I cannot remember who said this, however, it is a statement that says something like this.

"If any man or woman with human eyes and human ears believes they can know God that is within all eyes and ears is at it's height pure folly."

I like that because as close as we feel with GOD, It brings a Unity of all people as One, as God at his origin is whole. cool

I agree with your post. I am not a JW and I feel the same way about the two-party system. It's like asking whether you want to be shot or stabbed - you pick the lesser of two dangers, as Prince states in the song. At the end of the day both parties sing and dance to the beat of the same coporate drummer. These are the same coporations who donate to both parties just as lobbyists pay both parties. The differences in the two are minimal when it comes to the overall state of things. However, as I have said throughout this thread, because Prince is a JW, people tend to dismiss everything he says as "JW" philosophy. I would not be surprised if Prince felt this way about the current system prior to becoming a JW. As I reflect on his music, he has always been politically aware but I do not recall him making any reference to voting or supporting any political party.

Interesting comments many are making about the verse stating the "2 party system", but not surprised because it reflects the current, political system, as well as the past, but how do you feel about the other verses? Would love to hear some opinions on those verses as well.

My opinion on the below verses of "Colonize Mind", I have to say, in my opinion, reflects the absentee rate of fathers in the home or irresponsible fathers not living up to their responsibilities as fathers to their children; leaving a multitude of young males and females without proper male, role models in their lives. Often many, youth, not all, have fallen prey to the wrong elements of society, looking for that "whole family" image or father image, especially if the single parent that is raising them, is not strong enough to play both parental roles and teach them respect and mannerisms in the home which they could display outside of the home as well.

It's especially sad when females look for a father image in the men they date, only to find out later that "fatherly love," is a different kind of love, and you're not going to find "fatherly love" in a relationship with a man you date or marry. Sadly, many females, often get the two confused. Also, the visible lack of respect many of our youth have for adults and authoritative figures in our society today is astounding.

The 2nd verse basically speaks for itself; lack of maternal love or the experience of it, may lead to one not being able to display maternal love or affection.

I can't prove that God doesn't exist as much as you can. Like I said, it's not for me to proove something I don't believe in. Isn't this obvious? The difference between us is that I don't govern my life based upon a bunch of principles I cannot attest to. If you value truth then you value evidence. In the real world, facts are paramount (right or wrong) and faith don't cut it darlin.'

I take it that when you, or a family member, is ill then you suddenly act like God doesn't exist right? You go to a hospital to seek medicine brought upon my man-made scientific advances...not some abstract medical facility in the sky.

It's so futile arguing with u people...

lol... in the first place, I'm not arguing with you.

Didn't once address any of my points...there's a suprise..futile indeed.
