Who the fuck wants a "chill" album from Prince? He can make funky songs without being sexual. Play in the Sunshine The Dance Electric It's A Wonderful Day In a large Room with No Light Rebirth of the Flesh all funky as hell and not in the least sexual.

I could've sworn that Prince clarified his statements... about same sex marriage...
even still... the new music is kicking. The thing about being a fan of Prince is U have 2 B able 2 evolve with him... if U can't evolve with his style changes, then it's probably best 2 go listen 2 the top 40 crap they play now.

Bullshit. He was still running a lame ass 1-800 phone while Amazon was rakign in the money and changing the game. George Michael was aeons ahead of Prince -- George fucking Michael, ferchrissakes. The first version of the NPGMC was a disaster, the second one failed to deliver the minimum of what they promised, the third employed DRM while plenty of outlets were already selling DRM-free music. Prince has NEVER done anything that wasn't the kind of move a major record label would do. linus4000 said: who
sold records together with his tickets for his musicology tour ( musicology was for like 6 months in the us top ten !) Hurrah for fraud! Of course, if any other artist had done it and thus robbed Prince of his chart position, you'd still be bitching about it. Oh, and let's also not forget that IT ISN'T A BUSINESS MODEL, but a dumb stunt. linus4000 said: and who sold 3 million cds ( planet earth)

ok listened.
Crimson... don't like .. very hokey, why why why.he has 100 songs better than this in the vault, no one is going to play this either on reg radio, so why Colonized mind. is solid and pretty good, guitar solo is not that great, but very good tone on it. Wall-vocally not that exciting, the guitar solo is interesting. we'll see, so far I would buy the album. Music is the best...

If it's anything like 3121 or Planet Earth I am not buying it. I didn't think Guitar was a good song, also this new Guitar forward approach has been talked about before and usually he ends up overdubbing a keyboard ala Tommy Barbarella line, and boom it now sounds less raw. I don't want or need Prince to copy his old sound, rather I just want him to move past his formulamatic approach to recent albums. Rainbow children was the last album I felt he moved forward. There were times maybe 10 yrs ago that I would have lost sleep waiting and thinking about a new Prince release, now not so much. But what did you think of the new songs? [Edited 12/19/08 12:45pm] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Really? Jimi made an album whining about SHIT NOBODY GIVES A DAMN ABOUT? It's been more than FIFTEEN YEARS and Prince is still bitching about the record deal he signed AGAINST THE ADVICE OF HIS LAWYER ETC? Pathetic. Bart this is where I agree with you 100%, he has been whining since pre-gold era about getting free, then he would release albums by the dozen. He is full of shit. Ani Difranco and Ryan Adams manage to have better business models and release tons of music each year. Stop crying Prince, call up Trent from NIN or Radiohead and get with it. Music is the best...

Why does he do this? Make a filler album with one hot throwback joint on it? It kinda reminds me of Black Sweat.

Dude, NOTHING in those new songs is different from what Prince has done before. "There'll Never B Another Like Me" is basically the same song as "Undisputed". The rest could easily have been on Chaos & Disorder. ZERO evolution. Prince is still only listening to his own tunes and thinking he's the shit -- whereas in reality his schtick has grown old and tired. For crying out loud, a song called Berlin Wall -- that damn thing fell TWENTY YEARS AGO! I'm starting to think that Prince is like that character in the movie Goodbye Lenin. Now excuse me while I go listen to the fantastic record Grace Jones released this year. THAT is how you do it. © Bart Van Hemelen

Can't ya read? My opinion of those new tracks is in several posts in this thread. lemme make it easy: derivative self-referencing nonsense, musically things that wouldn't even end up on B-Sides in the 1980s (hell, I doubt he'd bother to record them). © Bart Van Hemelen

If U're so displeased with the new Prince... maybe this site is not the place 4 U. Yes dude, I "can't keep up" -- sure, whatever floats your boat. Just keep pretending. Every damn time it's the same old song: Prince "famz" desperate to believe that their hero has released yet another world-changing jam, hating on fans who pop the hype balloon -- and yet, by the time the next Prince record comes around they'll happily dismiss the previous jams as rubbish and praise the latest music. Whereas I have always had the same opinion -- but then again that's easy, since I don't need to lie to myself. © Bart Van Hemelen

Much.....like the tone of your posts. I keep forgetting that you have different rules for Prince (who can spew hate about gays, who can lie about record companies, who can insult other musicians,...) and people like me. For the record: you might wanna remember that Prince also once used terms like "SOS" to describe some people's music -- but that's OK, I guess, because it's your hero Prince: he's allowed to be rude (even though he's consistently wrong). Pretty rich coming from someone who was publicly screwed over by Prince or his entourage. You'd think that would have knocked some sense into you. © Bart Van Hemelen

I'm sure you want people to respect your point of view but why can't you respect others that don't side with you? I've like the majority of what Prince has done and I don't have to lie to you or myself about that either. It's the truth. To get respect, you got to give it and you don't that's why so many don't respect your views here. But you don't care about that. You always got to try and have the last word and act like it's the truth. As they say in the UK, Bollocks. The fantasy world is waiting for you to come home.
