It's all about you isn't it?

NO IT ISN'T. YOU made it about me. YOU, not me.

purplecam said:

it should be about if you are feeling Prince and his music. No more no less.

So why then do people need to LIE about Prince's accomplishments? Why do you gett upset when someone points out that Prince's new music isn't that good?

purplecam said:

I don't care about the "facts" that you try to bring here,

Then why make them up? Why not stick to the truth? Why are you so afraid of that?

purplecam said:

we'll like what we like, even if a song sounds like something that was done in the past.

I don't give a rat's ass whether you like a song or not -- I object to you pretending that these new songs are a completely new direction for Prince. But instead of debating that or (horror of horrors) acknowledging that I'm right (though you actually just admitted that I am), you decide to launch a personal attack. YOU did that. I debated Prince, YOU debated ME.

purplecam said:

That's why I don't respect you and I won't get into any debates with you. You need to grow up Bart.

How many replies have you posted on this thread? How many are about Prince and how many are about me?

So why are you guys feeding into his negativity? Simply ignore him and enjoy the music if you wish.

All this music has me wondering about how Prince is going to get this released to us. I hope that whatever it is, it's easy for us to get to the music cause if the rest of the album sounds like all these songs, then this is something the world needs to hear.

I agree with you on that. I think and I'm sure it's been said, he's probably going to try and find a way to get it out in a big way that's never been done before. I don't really care, just as long as it gets to us.

lol But who still listens to Grace Jones?

Plenty of people. She was the highlight of a recent Later With Jools Holland on the BBC -- the show that Prince keeps avoiding for some bizarre reason, even though he finds plenty of time to mime on American Idol. You'd think Prince would be the first in line to appear on a show where people need to play live, a show that celebrates musicianship.

2elijah said:

I mean is she not about 20 years ago as well and you still listen to her music?

She has released an amazing album this year, but yeah, I also listen to her old music. So what? Why do you feel the need to comment on something you obviously don't know anything about, in an attempt to stop me from commenting about things I obviously know a lot about?

2elijah said:

If you don't like it, then that's fine, there's others that will, and quite frankly shouldn't have to answer to anyone or ask their permission to purchase a particular artists' music either,

Have you read this thread? Is there ANYWHERE where I forbid people to like Prince's new music? Why is it so bloody hard to a) not discuss me but discuss Prince and his music and his actions and b) NOT MAKE STUFF UP?

Oh, and according to several people in this thread I'm not allowed to voice my dislike of Prince's new music.

Isn't it remarkable how you needed to make shit up about me, while ignoring what others have said, just to make a point that doesn't apply to me yet does apply to those others?

So he's looking for a way to sell this without a label? Maybe he could have his own website where people could pay money for individual song and album downloads... or maybe a membership fee for access to music and videos?

Oh wait...

Bwahahaha! Like what other year? Prince hasn't had a big year in uhm... a decade or two?

How much money did Prince make during the Musicology tour, or for last year's 21 Nights? Of course it depends on how you measure a big year. Obviously your way will be different to the rest of our's...

Let see what dumb label head give Prince a ridiculous advance to distribute this. Its hard to criticize the system while at the same time exploiting it.

Hey how about $0 advance and just post it on Itunes.

Its the exploitation of artists by corporate execs that he criticizes, not artists profiting from what they themselves create.

I don't understand why it's so difficult for Prince to figure out an alternative to a major record label to get this thing released. I mean, everyone seems to be figuring out a new way of self-releasing music, and it's worked with varying degrees of success for Wendy & Lisa, David Byrne & Brian Eno, Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead, among others. The solution is out there, and for the love of Benji, Prince was one of the early architects of this method. Where's the problem?

Maybe he is going to ask santa to deliver them to us on Christmas Eve! Imagine that - over 6 Billion albums sold in one night! ohgoon

“Wall of Berlin” was the third song played. Again, more guitar virtuosity by Prince. If he’s aiming to make an album similar to Side C of Electric Ladyland, he’s off to a good start.

Really? Jimi made an album whining about SHIT NOBODY GIVES A DAMN ABOUT?

It's been more than FIFTEEN YEARS and Prince is still bitching about the record deal he signed AGAINST THE ADVICE OF HIS LAWYER ETC?

Pathetic.

Where do you see him bitching about "Warner Brothers" in Wall of Berlin? Warner Bros isn't synonymous with the music industry. 4 lines in song (Colonized Mind) bitching about a bunch of different things in America and you reduce all 4 songs to a negative comment about P's relationship to Warner Bros? Huh? confuse

Loving this new stuff. Listening to There'll Never B Another as I type. Parts of it make me think of The Good Life from Exodus. Really like the other tracks too. Nothing to complain about as far as I'm concerned.

I guess I'm gonna have to be made out as a liar, and buy the next album, if the rest of it sounds like this. It seems like it took him the journey he's been on to get to write such an album - I can get with the sentiment expressed in 4ever.
