i wonder how he's going to release this album. i just hope he releases it soon!
lol. i've got a feeling that perhaps he will release it with a music magazine this time around. i've felt like he was looking to do that ever since warners took legal action against him releasing "the undertaker" with guitar magazine. anyway, i would also not be against him setting up a site for the album where you can just pay and download. with artwork, linernotes and lyrics. it seems to work for many artists. most recently we've all been able to check out the new wendy and lisa album. everyone gets a chance to access it at the same time. no middle man, no waiting lines. but from the past i guess we have learned that prince just wants to be more of a pioneer and open up new channels for distrubution. perhaps he's grown tired of the internet because it's too mainstream now lol. anyway, i just hope he doesn't leave it too long and start tinkering with the album again. or puts it on the backburner. release it! lol. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Here are my thoughts:
The songs that were played were: 1. Crimson & Clover - Very Rock & Rollish, some nice guitar riffs. Reminds me of The Holy River from Emancipation. 2. Colonized Mind - Slower mellow song (more of a spoken word type) again great guitar playing on this one. 3. Wall of Berlin - Really can't explain the sound of this one sort of a mixture of alot of things. I can see this one growing on me. 4. 4Ever - I LOVE THIS ONE! - Defintely 4 the Ladies! From the sounds of these songs seem like this cd will be more on the Rock & Roll side. [Edited 12/18/08 14:34pm]

This is great! I'm reading almost universally good reactions on the org!
Granted I skimmed the thread, but WOW. Prince's harshest critics live here, so I'm excited for these tracks! Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Good stuff! A great start for P on his upcoming release.
For sonic fun import them into I-Tunes and let them flow into each other like Todd's Wizard CD. "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

Colonized mind lyrics..... Wanna talk about it... Colonized mind Upload, revolution principal See a rock on the shelf, say it's always been there Download, no responsibility Do what you want, no body cares Upload, a master race idea Genetically disposed to rule the world Download a future full of isolated, full of isolated boys & girls Upload a two party system The lesser of two dangers, illusion of choice Download a belly(?) full of fascism Nothing really ever really changes, you never had a voice Listen to me one time If you look you, you sure gonna find Throughout mankind's history, a colonized mind One in five _____, the rich a colonized fall (?????) Without God it's just the blind leading the blind Upload, a joint-venture record deal (why?) It's just another way for the man to steal, while they stickin' you with the bill Download, a temporary acquisition, a fleeting flame of fortune, nothing to leave in your will hey, hey, hey, hey Upload, a child with no father Download, no respect for authority Upload, a child with no mother Download, a hard time showing love If you look you, you sure gonna find Throughout mankind's history, a colonized mind One in five _____, the rich a colonized fall (?????) Without God it's just the blind leading the blind So this is one of the songs played, Colonized Mind?

PurpleLove7 said: From 'Rolling Stone' online:
Los Angeles’ rock radio station Indie 103 was “summoned” to go up to Prince’s home this past week to preview his new album. According to the station’s “Mr. Shovel,” Prince doesn’t have a record label and “wants nothing to do with record labels, so he’s meeting with people to figure out how to operate at his level without a record label.” Following a long conversation with the Purple Rain star, the radio reps were played the new album in Prince’s home entertainment theatre. “It’s heavy, rockin’, and our enthusiasm was immediate,” Mr. Shovel said. Prince then said the station could preview a few of the new songs on Indie 103, so that’s where were we today at 3 p.m. The album kicks off with an explosive, four-minute instrumental before launching into the first song that was played on the radio… Prince covering Tommy James & the Shondells’ “Crimson & Clover,” with the Purple One altering the lyrics as he’s been known to do during his cover performances. Keeping with the original, the vocals sound like Prince is submerged under water. Things deviate at the chorus, however, as Prince belts out the “ooh baby, I think I love you” part of Jimi Hendrix’s “Foxy Lady.” “Colonized Mind” was the second song played. Another laid-back guitar joint, it seems like Prince’s intention on this album is to make people stop dancing and just chill. More aquatic layering on Prince’s voice as he sings politicized lyrics with lyrics along the lines of “Did you know your record deal was another way for ‘The Man’ to steal.” Yeah, we don’t think Prince wants anything to do with record labels. The guitar solo is killer, out-guitaring the entirety of Planet Earth’s “Guitar,” before the chorus returns. “Wall of Berlin” was the third song played. Again, more guitar virtuosity by Prince. If he’s aiming to make an album similar to Side C of Electric Ladyland, he’s off to a good start. The songs also sound more intimate, like the Artist recorded these songs without any Revolution and New Power Generation behind him. “4ever” is the ballad, with Prince busting out the piano before being joined by backup singers. It’s not “Free,” “Ballad of Dorothy Parker” or “Sometimes It Snows In April,” but it’s still a solid, latter-day Prince slow dance as he ruminates about marriage and being with someone, well, 4ever. And that’s all we get. For now, at least. Again, according to the DJs, Prince’s new album is finished and he’s just looking for a non-record label vessel in which to release it. We’ll keep you posted in what promises to be a busy year for Prince. Wow! I think I'll put this in the initial post...
