All 4 tracks ROCK!
Crimson & Clover - Great choice for a cover, I dig the way P. did this. Colinized Mind - to me, this sounds a lot like the way P. did "All Along The Watchtower" at the SuperBowl...it has the same vibe and similar chord progression...loved it. Wall of Berlin - mix of blues, rock, & funk with crazy drum soloing & guitar soloing throughout. Dope track. 4Ever - it's tough to choose a favorite but right now I'd go with this one. It's the most "pop" of all four and very catchy....Lovin' it. This new album sounds REAL GOOD! Congrats Prince. And I hope P. finds yet another innovative way to release the album, keep as much money as possible for himself (as opposed to the record companies), and once again transform the record industry. Crimson & Clover is a really well done, guitar heavy cover. The other 2 I still haven't made my mind up on though. On thing needs to be said - I hope these don't get remixed and overproduced before we get an actual CD, because they are sonically perfect like they are (and I'm just listening to the radio rips). Crimson and Clover, nice enough, but I'm still of the opinion that Prince has so many of his own songs, I wish he'd keep his covers for concerts.
Wall of Berlin and Colonized Mind are absolutely marvellous. Completely threw me. Never expected anything like this from Prince, not since 88, or TRC. They person who said it sounded like the guy who wrote 'Wasted Kisses' is spot on. It's nice to hear Prince using melancholy to compose again. 4ever - nice enough... lovely crescendo... can't stop thinking about Wall of Berlin or Colonized Mind, though. | |
