OK. Just heard it.
Certainly a few Princely elements in this, but the sterility of the synth lead line melody isn't cutting it. Some the clav-like parts sound like something Prince might do. Also... no bass guitar or guitar in a jam like this makes no sense. ; ) "He's a musician's musician..." |

Considering how well this musical slop matches up with Prince's recent output, I'd not be surprised if this is the return to form John Blackwell was speaking of the other day. Real lame music by real lame musicians. No hard feelings. | |

If this jam is indicative of what the John Blackwell comment was based on... it ain't even comparable 2 "Controversy". That's all I'm saying. Everybody here knows how I dig and support Prince's recent stuff, so this isn't that. This is this. I do like the groove, and certain parts really do sound like Prince... it sounds like an unfinished Prince track. With some Bass, Guitar, and a great vocal (with backgrounds)... then some polishing on the keys... this would JAM. If U want 2 hear something "princely" (and I use that term in a very peculiar way, because I really don't like it), then I could cook something up that would be much more "convincing". ...and just 2 re-state what I've been saying in this thread, it is not "equatable" 2 what John Blackwell's "comments" were, in the comparison 2 "Controversy". The closest I will get 2 thinking this, in fact, is music from one of the only people making music that I still believe in, and enjoy, is what I said earlier which U must all go and review, if U give a true $@#%, and have the ear I do.
