President Obama's Innaugural Gala--Prince?

Hi my Fellow Orgers!
biggrin

Last night history was made when Barack Obama was elected as the first African-American president of the United States and I was wondering, do any of you think that Prince will play his Innaugural Ball.

I remember the NAACP Awards from 2005 and Obama was in the audience and jamming really good to Prince while he was playing. And it wouldn't be a ball without Prince kicking some tunes!

Do you think Prince would go if he got offered to play? biggrin

Why would Prince play an inaugural when he doesn't even vote?
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Michael Jackson played at Clinton's first one - don't know if he votes but he was still JW.

It would be up to Prince to make the decision to play at Obama's Inaugural Gala. But if he did, what difference does it make? He's a music genius who I would have the pleasure of listening to at such an event.

Why on Earth would Prince play one single note for the enemy?

No, it wouldn't. It would be up to the person that asks him.

Doh.

I can just imagine him showing up at the White House uninvited. "Whatddaya mean, I am not on the list? Do you know who I aaaam?"

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Why wouldn't Prince do it, it's great P.R.

Whether he's political or not, Prince's principles would probably bend to get a gig like that.

If he's there, that's cool with me. If he's not there that's cool with me, too! I'll be there and I'm not going to see Prince...so whatever! shrug

However, anybody paying attention should plainly see that this event WILL have the largest live and viewing audience EVER!!!!

If just an ounce of me...KNEW...that I were the baddest musical artist of our time...I'd certainly be on that stage!!! But hey...like I said...whatever! shrug

Well, WELCOME 2 THE DAWN. Of course he should play there but I doubt he will if he doesn´t even vote. Then again, if it´s ok for him to play for big money somewhere in France or for some Russian billionaires in Moscow, then he should definitely play for the first black president. He´d look like a fool and hypocrite if he were to boycott that event.Prince is too smart to boycott that.

i say that it depends upon what the Karma is for the whole situation. If Prince is meant to play there he will,if he isn't meant to play there he won't. i hope that helped. smile smile smile

Bruce Springsteen has been a big vocal supporter for Obama, taking every opotunity to play at Obama events. He has spent his whole life advocating worthy cause working for the working man.
Springsteen should play, and get a little recognition for his selfless giving.

Prince, i love his music, but fuck him he's ignorant
