But they were seperated tword the end of that cd The One was the last vid they did 2gather sad. He does romantic song like that right b4 a split.

I am curious as to what is the turnaround time for Prince to get inspiration for song, write it, produce and record it, and then make a video. Yah know what I mean? I have a feeling that by the time we hear Prince song... it is old news for him... and so whatever was the inspiration for the song is long gone by then.
Wasn't that a problem for Prince and Warner brothers? They wanted him to slow down between songs and let the fans savor a CD but by that time Prince was bored with it and wanted to move on?

Also, the whole vault thing... he writes songs then put them down sometimes for years... who really knows when the song was written?

Insiders have said that TAC was written during the Emancipation era and reworked for a release years later... the video was shot during the breakup with Mani.

shrug

yep i heard that too. that warner bros thing...damn fiasco. I'm sorry but Prince I think was trying to milk that 100 mill deal. He was supposed to get 10 mil per album with Warner's determining the release schedules but he wanted to release more than one album at a time under the pretense that the music was flowing so strongly and he had to release it, like he couldn't put it in his vault with all the other recordings. Also, I don't think he was concentrating on putting the best compilations together. I've always supported him wanting to own his masters but he has to be business smart as well as marketing smart! Overexposure never worked for anybody! Take your entire stash, convert from analog to digital, release a dance track before a ballad and make a hot sexy vid...you can't lose!

The song is sooooo not about Mayte.

I think from now on, we should make it clear: No woman with a name that starts with an "M" was involved in the inspiration or creation of this song.

It is for his first wife, his spirit wife who prays for him. The one he prays for.

I don't think he wants her as anything more than a muse or else she is the one he is not strong enough to acquire.

The answer He gave

I'm recalling that request from NPGMC a long time ago about them wanting members to send in their photos for a "video". Maybe someone pictured inspiered him to (re-)record "The Dance" for example..?

The video of "Te Amo Corazon" may not have anything to do with the meaning of the actual song. It was Salma Hayek who directed it. Maybe the one Prince is singing about was someone he saw on a moviescreen in an airoplane? Salma, for example...wink

(Btw, what happened with Salma and her little baby-girl, after separating from the father? Did they move to Princes castle, maybe)? eek

Yes, my fantasy has gone totally WILD! wink smile I'm sure the truth is something completely different, but I still think those photos may be a clue...

falloff 42,000 feet? Keep in mind that the typical cruising altitude for transcontinental airliners is 35,000 feet, almost a mile and a half short of 42,000 feet. http://209.85.173.104/sea...=firefox-a

At 42,000 feet above the sea
That's where you and I first came to be
From the dust of the earth and the knowledge tree
Te amo corazon

At last I can tell you what I've known so long
My heart's been crying out to sing this song
I don't care who knows it
'cause there's nothing wrong
Te amo corazon

I'm so scared of losing you
I really don't know what I'd do
Can't bear the thought of another day apart
My heart, my heart, corazon

Once when I first laid eyes on you
I saw heaven and earth anew
Everyone else saw my brown eyes no longer blue
Te amo corazon

At first I couldn't find the words to say
How much you changed me in every way
I just wanna thank you
Each and every day
Te amo corazon

I believe its about Mayte. If u listen 2 the words it speaks of the earth and the knowledge tree. This is Ethiopia. Speaks of eyes no longer blue. Mayte was the 1 luv of his life besides GOD. crysball

Well, I can remember a discussion a while back here on the Org.

It was said that the song was an outtake from the Emancipation era... (this one and the Dance) and that the song was about Mayte...

But the video with Te Amo Corazon was scripted to reflect the break up of Prince and Mani.

There was some talk about Te Amo being words that he whispers on a earlier song from either Emancipation, or The One from the Come On CD. Emancipation CD and The One was obviously inspired by Mayte.

he sings te amo at the end of friend/lover/mother....

It's a great song that shouldn't have been the 1st single for 3121. Should have saved it for last, if at all.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
