Your Favorite Live Prince performances... What performance live that you've seen of Prince, either in the flesh, or on TV. do you consider your favorite?
Mine keep changing but lately, I've been LOVING his performance of Dolphin on David Letterman's show. It appeared that David was genuinely impressed and surprised. The sound was great. You'd think that it was a studio recording. Also, as cheesy as this is because it was lip synced, I love his American Music Awards performance of Gold Experience material. Where there's a video montage in the beginning, and a figure that appears to be prince descends down some steps. Only to reveal the real prince is up in the front of the stage, cloaked. The he ends his speech with "Like a eskimo..chill. iz'all good. Peace N be Wild" And he's chewing gum the entire time!!!

The February 9, 2007 aftershow at 3121 in Vegas. Dude was practically in my lap. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

The ones I've been in the audience for.
I LOVED seeing him in Salt Lake City in 2004. It was an outdoor show...PERFECT night...third row center... But as for just in general...those that are recorded and can be viewed...I don't know. I really haven't seen enough of them. I do know I LOVE the late 1980's early 1990's performances. It's like Prince is just channelling music and energy. The recorded performances I've seen are stunning!!! I'm firmly planted in denial

And he's chewing gum the entire time!!! I feel exactly the same way about that one. Maybe because, even though he's lipsynching, he just looks so cool. Or maybe it's because he pretends to blow Tommy Barbarella. It's like he's saying, "Yeah, you want to give me a big award, that's great, but I'm still gonna make those rednecks at home really, really nervous." Did you notice that they go to a still shot of the audience at one point? God, I love everything about that performance.

I thought his initial dance moves during Billy Jack Bitch were very smooth. He didn't attempt to overdo anything. he just moved very nicely. It was quite sexy.
