It's similar to a big hollywood production where they hire lots of extras so there were ads for volunteers...the ads were even posted here and on hq. Team leaders had to recruit as least 10 people to register and we had to sign all sorts of releases and confidentiality agreements because the show content was a big secret. it must have been a fab experience 2 b part of the rehersals etc! sounded like a military operation! i'm amazed the stage was built in just a few mins. sounds like prince really enjoyed himself 2. i suppose it was a big deal, even 4 him. It was a huge operation and very detailed. I have mad respect for the stage crew. That stage was something like 16 huge pieces that had to be moved and put together in a few minutes. i imagine he is an excitable person, so it's great u kinda confirmed tht & he must have enjoyed u & ur friends showing him lots of The superbowl is just about as big as it gets in the US. It was downright cute to see how excited Prince was...it took all of his cool just to keep from grinning ear to ear. I wish more folks could see that side of him. chasing the golf cart... sounds hilarious! Most of the volunteers were kids under 21 who mostly know hip hop and plastic r&b. Seeing a real master musician in action blew them away! LOL. sorry 2 hear u also had various traumas.... hope ur knee is fixed now. did u need surgery? i'm very glad u still managed 2 watch the show. Thanks. In spite of everything I'd do it all again because two of my favorite things are football and Prince. No surgery thank goodness, but I did have to use a walker and endure two huge injections in my knee...ouch! cool! thx

just watched it again, one of the parts i love the best, is when the brass & reed march band arrives out, I was part of such a band for over 10 yrs and we played and marched in competitions against some of the biggest bands in america at the st patrick day parades in ireland, the amount of work that goes into getting the choreograhpy and movement right, is unbeliveable, and i was really touched when I saw the band arrive out in the superbowl video, although you cant really hear them. Great memories, roll on Tom Petty, another fav of mine If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

You don't have to be into football to know that--a quarter past means 1/4 of an hour...a quarter piece of pie means 1/4. I mean, I know y'all use the metric system but c'mon.

yes - not bad show but not hugely exciting and finished already Snooze fest. I like Tom Petty, but that was boring. It was like, 'play one hit song. Stop. Play another song. Stop.' Give me Prince's performance anyday--and I *hated* that he did the Superbowl and didn't even like his performance that much...but compared to this he was infinitely better.

5. Super Bowl I, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Green Bay Packers -- University of Arizona and University of Michigan Marching Bands The very first Super Bowl halftime show was quite modest, but trust me, you'd take two marching bands over some of the crap that followed every time. Plus, this is still the only time an organized unit from the Grand Canyon State has ever taken the field at the Big Game. 4. Super Bowl XXV, New York Giants vs. Buffalo Bills -- "A Small World Salute to 25 Years of the Super Bowl" with New Kids On The Block, Disney Characters, Warren Moon, 2,000 Local Children and an Audience Card Stunt A landmark show, it actually wasn't aired until post-game as a result of Persian Gulf War coverage interrupting halftime. Unfortunately immediately after the show, the 2,000 local children were sent to Iraq. Well, maybe it was their older siblings, but these kids would get a chance of their own to visit the Middle East just a few years later. 3. Super Bowl XXXVIII, New England Patriots vs. Carolina Panthers -- Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson, Nelly, P. Diddy, Kid Rock Best known as the moment a naked breast was broadcast into the nation's, nay the world's, living rooms. Armageddon was only narrowly averted thanks to the FCC's subsequent crackdown on broadcasters. What's weird is the way Nipplegate has completely obscured our memory of the remaining performers. Well, that and the fact that they sucked. 2. Super Bowl XXXVI, New England Patriots vs. St. Louis Rams -- U2's Tribute To 9/11 Victims In a surreal display of America's ethical duality, U2 brought the most macho football fans to tears with a mini-set that was flanked by the names of 9/11 victims. Meanwhile, competing network NBC tried to lure viewers away with Playboy Playmates eating maggots on "Fear Factor." Fortunately, most viewers kept their eyes glued to Fox for one of sports broadcasting's most cathartic moments ever. 1. Super Bowl XXLI, Indianapolis Colts vs. Chicago Bears -- Prince They finally got it right. Keep it simple. Recruit one dynamic, virtuosic, mind-bogglingly talented showman and take the leash off him amidst a torrential rainstorm. But watching the one and only Mr. Prince Rogers Nelson blast through wind gusts with his guitar as if it were dictating their path and take an entire stadium -- not to mention a worldwide TV audience -- into his hand like a grain of sand wasn't just good entertainment by the Super Bowl's standards. It was one of the best televised live performances of the year. U didn't even mention the '93 SuperBowl show. Michael Jackson per4med & it was the most watched, ever!! ...most watched...but not voted one of the best...in fact, I think it was voted one of the 10 worst...use the link n my first post to this thread to get to the article...

Naw ya, was Petty any good? and why does that stadium have a roof? If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

No, I thought the same thing! Freakin' biters, even the fireworks outta the stage was a straight rip of P last year. I like and respect Tom Petty and I'm always glad to see/hear real musicians. But he's not the liveliest or most exciting guy on stage. He looked like a stiff corpse. He could play the Kim Basinger role of corpse in his video Last Dance with Mary Jane. Sorry, but this paled (literally and figuratively) in comparison to lil man last year. On a side note Jordyn Sparks' rendition of the anthem was pretty good, but too bad she wasn't singing live! punk ass!
