No that's called being considerate of other people's views and feelings.

In your opinion. I call it being naive.

You may if you wish. Personnally, I call it "being positive" (as opposed to "being negative").

Naive? Over-optimistic maybe sad though I don't it's too much to ask of anyone to be mindful of other peoples feelings.

Do you think Prince was thinking of his fans feelings when he sent cease and desist orders, which, if followed through you lead to the likely closure to the biggest on line community?

You will notice a common. The personal venom spitting, or dictictoral views mostly come from self proclaime positive "fams".

The people they see as negative very rarely attack other fans on here, unless provoked first.

I agree with this response, I don't like being called sheep. I like Prince's music and I enjoy coming here to share/discuss it with others who enjoy the same. I believe that is why the org was created. I could however do without others calling him disrespectful names like c**t etc (those words are not used in polite society so why hide behind your computer screen and use them here?)

You stole my words!

Yes, people, open your eyes! See how some of you felt when you heard some of the lyrics in the PFUnk song? And no one was named!

Now, imagine Prince was taking a picture of you (yes YOU!) then putting it on the 3121 website with your name written underneath. THEN he would add a text below saying: "Hey, look everybody, [name] is my ugliest fan, I think he/she's gay, he has not balls/no life, is really stupid, has no dress sense, is crap at his/her job, I think he/she should do things like this and not like that, etc. THEN, he would sprinkle some obscure unverified rumors about you (yes YOU!) on top the top. For, example, that last week you were seen cheating on your husband / or wife, with your own brother/sister!

THEN, people around you would become very suspicious, gradually more distant and eventually would stop talking to you and start talking behind your back.

Now, after all this - and please be honest with yourselves- wouldn't you (yes YOU!) at least feel like doing something about it, I mean ANYTHING to stop it? Would YOU not react?

So, the real debate should be this one:

Since when expressing yourself on the internet has allowed (I'm talking about moral rules here - not legal ones) anyone to become a racist judgmental narrow minded offensive being?

Everyone is entitled to a bit of dignity. And yes, even on the internet!

Think about it.

My kind of girl.

Yes there haters here but there are only haters when they admit it.
Anyway, inspite the fact that they have the right to express there opinions, thoughts, and etc. the way they come off is annoying wall ignorant and immature. I mean seriously if you don't like Prince 1) Why the hell are you here then that's just reduntant just to come here and be disrepectful 2) If you going to critize Prince at least be sane and serious about it. You just don't know how many times people used "Prince sux" as a valid answer. That's some great reasoning right there rolleyes rolleyes 3) Just get a damn life and move on if you can't do #2.

imo it is very disrespectful to name call anyone with that word in public and I don't use the word "like" frequently either. I'm sure Prince does not want anyone calling him c**t.

Fine. You don't like it. No problem with that. But if you were to take a stroll down parts of East London for example, you fill here the word "cunt" is as many conversations as you here the word "shit" in South LA.

In areas, the swear work becomes part of everyday language.

The difference is, you are stating in a thread that you believe your choice of words should be used instead of what other people choose themselves.

Thats simply being dictatorial to people.

Can I just butt in here.... Yes the word c**t is used a lot in East London, but it's still rude and that still doesn't make it acceptable to the general population does it? That's a small area of the world your talking about!

Maybe the question of this thread should be re-worded. Maybe Slave to the music vs. FAN of the music. There is a difference between being a fan and being a slave. A fan you can voice your opinion if something is wrong. A slave u must stay quiet. A fan will come around when thick is no longer thin-but point out the negative. A slave will praise you even if your wrong.

Me personally..Im a fan..and I really love Prince's music..It always will have a place for it in my heart.

But it seems that in recent months that alot has been going on. Its one thing after another. I came here to talk and share about Prince (Other forums is an extra) and thats what I will do forever. Whether negative or positive (Hopefully ALOT more positive). I was upset when he moved forward with all these suits. BUT that dosent make me a hater of him.

It seems like my fanship of prince (and maybe others like me) is like a marriage. I will always love him and u gotta take the good with the bad if its gonna last. Its just when the bad/negative happens time and time again..I'm gonna have something to say about it. lol

But good music soothes the soul. wink and I try to keep everything positive.
U want to know the secreat of love and happiness? Love GOD with all your heart, mind soul and strength. And love your neighboor as yourself.

"Its still rude"? In your eyes, not to the person who uses it as a casual profanity.

As far as the use of the word cunt is concerned, its no more or less offensive than a word like nigger. Its all depends whos saying it, and in what context.

Some people hate it, but it's ok to use on records?

Bad language is objective. Its not exclusive to whats acceptable in mainstream USA.

You're a strange one! wink

You list your fan level as "Enthusiast" yet you seem to love coming here baiting as much as possible, whilst blaming everyone else in the process.

Its like the thread you started in the concert section a few weeks back. There we had a bunch of honest fans, feeling aggrieved trying to get refunds for their £235 VIP seats which ended up restricted view, and you decided, that you should start a thread to tell them all to stop moaning and worship the fact that Prince was in town.

You had nothing to contribute to help them. No reason to be there, and no reason to dismiss what some people believed was a legitimate complaint. Instead you waded in like some upstart and told them all to shut up. Not just in response form, but you even started a thread to tell them to shut up.

If thats what being a fam is about, god help us all.

Really like your post. I've sent messages to the authors of some great posts I've seen amongst the negative ones.

I know exactly what you mean.
I bet people just are dying to put me under the "slave" category because I rarely have a bad thing to say about Prince.
Truth be told, I don't think he's perfect and I don't love 100% of his work. But I do like a very good %age it and give some albums/songs more chances than most people here would.

haha... people will come after me for this as well. The whole thing about liking Prince being like a "marriage"... taking the good with the bad... It feels like the same thing wiht me too. But I hate speaking badly of him, but there are sometimes where it can't be helped. Comes very rarely for me, but I try to avoid it.

I like sticking with the positive myself... that annoys people, sure, but it doesn't stop me from being honestly postive, haha. Music is meant 2b a positive experience because there's enough in this world to bring us down. Music is like our escape for harsh realities. But when the harsh realities come here, things get pretty ugly.
So I still listen to the music like I always have and enjoy it all the same despite the hate towards its creator cool

Edit: just wanted to add that a lot of people asked me to stick around because my positivity has inspired them. I don't mean 2 sound arrogant, but I feel like its up to me and other positive thinkers to stick around to keep this place from being plunged into the darkness of negativity.
